Do outsiders do more harm to other outsiders by keeping quiet?

..on nepotism. While we cant expect people like Sonam, Aamir, Alia, Varun or KJo to speak up against nepotism as they are all here due to nepotism but I think the greatest harm is done by outsiders like this:

New Delhi: She entered Bollywood without a godfather but actress Swara Bhaskar says her experience in the industry has been anything but nepotistic.

The 28-year-old actress agrees that there is an element of feudalism in the Hindi film industry but says she has never felt that people are prejudiced against her.

"Bollywood as an industry is based on relationships, it has always been star-driven and it has an element of feudalism. So, it would be difficult for an outsider but my experience of Bollywood is not nepotistic at all," Swara told PTI during a visit here.

"I think people, who have been most warm and nice are people like Karan Johar, Sonam Kpaoor and even Aditya Chopra. He has always been very responsive and helpful." Swara's Tanu Weds Manu' co-star Kangana Ranaut started the debate on nepotism by calling host Karan Johar the "flag bearer of nepotism" on his show, which led to a war of words between them.

The actress says Johar has always been very helpful to her and even agreed to launch the poster of her upcoming film Anarkali of Arrah' on social media. "Since the whole nepotism debate is going on, I just want to say that Karan has been a revelation to me. He is an industry elite but he has been a wonderful surprise. He launched our film's poster despite me not knowing him personally."

Swara says though Johar could not come onboard as a distributor, he was supportive of the Avinash Das-directed movie.

"His tweet added a certain credibility and gave visibility to our film. He is a very busy man but he replied to all my messages. When he tweeted our poster, people thought I had paid him. All I want to say is, I can't afford to pay him."

Swara says she does not agree with people who judge directors based on who they cast.

"People should have the freedom to cast whoever they want to cast. If Avinashji wants to cast me, then he should not have the pressure to cast Alia Bhatt or Shraddha Kapoor.

"Similarly, if Karan Johar wants to cast Alia or Shraddha, he should have the freedom to do that. He should not be judged for that. Sometimes that much openness is needed."

While Anushka is a A-list star and has got good launch and exposure right from the start despite being a mediocre actress for most of her roles but she got her chances and still gets them despite her outsider status.

But the same cant be said of Swara who is a better actress than most including her bestie Sonam and yet gets passed over for A-list roles and awards. Last heard Sonam was bidding to play SRK's heroine while Swara was offered her mother's role. Swara also unlike many BW folks is outspoken and isnt scared of Namo who is India's most powerful man yet she is scared of the Bollywood mafia led by KJo as we see in this article.

What about shahrukh khan and akshay kumar , if they dont say anything , why blame small celeb like swara who btw is pretty vocal on other issues 😆

How can they speak against nepotism when they have not been exactly on the receiving end of it? Shahrukh always says he was welcomed in the industry with open arms.. He shot to fame soon after gis debut.. Akshay got a gazzilion movies which were not decline with flops.. So if we take example of these two people, you wouldn't really have much to say about nepotism

SRK and Akshay are already insiders. They are both preparing to launch their own kids which is still ok. But both launched kids from star families already albeit unsuccessfully. Like Anushka they will say they never faced nepotism.

Bhai , akshay is an insider since he is rajesh khanna's SIL...some intellectuals on this board declared it some time back !!

OT : even outsider rajkumar rao said I love watching talented actors on screen, I don't mind if they're somebody's son or daughter in the industry. everybody will support their children. If in future I have a child and he/she wants to be in this industry I will obviously train him that way.

^^Can you blame them? If these makers take business decisions then so do the outsider stars. Everyone is here to make their career & outing/voicing displeasure on the one fact about the industry that everyone is sharply aware about, but cannot talk about publicly is career hariki. Difference between bravery & stupidity & all that & taking Swara as an example, I doubt she came to BW to be a huge massive "star" actor, I think it seems like she always knew she has solid talent & that's the one thing she can bank upon--- From that end she has always been welcomed completely & accepted readily because she *is* an excellent actress & not a threat to the big star actresses like Alia, Anushka, Kat, DP etc. She's also close friends with Sonam & KJo has praised her a lot. She has no reason to talk about something that doesn't even really affect her.

The key here to take away KJO refused to distribute. That is where he would lose money. He does not lose anything by tweeting and poor Swara is so kiss ass she thinks she has to pay him to do that. 🤔. It is the mentality here, that somehow KJO is superior because he is an industry elite. This is almost like a slave mentality. "Thank you master from the crumbs off your table". 🤢

This is why I like Kangy. She is arrogant and in your face. She does not think her place is not deserved and people who do not accept her can eff off. You can debate if Ranveer is an outsider or insider, for me he is an outsider, but from the beginning you see the arrogance that makes it clear that he thinks he has a place in the industry. That is the difference between an attitude of success and failure.

Outsider or insider, every single one who has succeeded has been arrogant enough to decide that they deserve a place in the industry and they will do what it takes to get there. It is SRK's story. If people think he built Mannat or Red Chillies by being in awe of industry insiders, well go back and look at his interviews. The one defining trait is his arrogance. Swara will never succeed unless she thinks she deserves to be there and there is no hierarchy.

People like SSR and Tapsee starts shouting outsider/nepotism whenever they are not invited to parties/award nights...But as soon as some amends are made,the tone take a 180 degree change...Will again go back to fraternity is close knit family yada yada🥱
