My first post here, after giving limited replies. Beyhadh has an interesting plot and here goes my interpretation.

'Learn to play many roles, to be whatever the moment requires. Adapt your mask to the situation."-Robert Greene. The
48 laws of power

In the game of chess, it is the King who has the kingdom, and power but the queen has the control. Prior to Arjun, Maya played the role of a King, but she was controlled by Ashwin and it was that control that suffocated her. She needed that control to make herself good. For that she needed a King who could have that power, but could be controlled by her.

She fell in love with Arjun when he went against Ashwin, her control. Despite having powers Maya couldn't defeat Ashwin because he controlled her.

But Arjun, the pawn, the duffer, the mere soldier could do it because he was an outsider. Now ideally, when a soldier reaches the other kingdom he could choose any post other than King, he would have chosen the highest one-the queen/minister. But clever Maya gives him power and chooses control. She controls him, can move in any direction and controls the pawns of opponents by her strength. Arjun will soon feel suffocated with the controller and sneak back to his previous minister who loves him and allows him to do mistakes for which she pays price. Maya seeing this decides to wash out Saanjh. For Saanjh, herself a minister when escapes death, like @Shruthiravi once mentioned the Madhav, Ayaan will guide her to victory. In this process, she will herself be the king or Arjun will come back as Her king.

Maya here puts various masks, once that of a victim of torture of his. Previous kingdom to cut off his Alliance with them and then that of the. Controller. She is also the king because transfer is illegal and hence she is now both power holder and control holder.

Her extreme moves have left us audience astonished.

'When the kingdom is weak, attack.'

P.S.- In my view, the show is a mere power game, there's no true couple out there. Despite Duryodhana being that strong, it is the side of Madhav that wins. Feel free to post your views.
