Hi All,
I was revisiting the old Shivika Scenes, and I thought of writing my take away from some of them. It is going to be a long post. 😳

Although it is underrated, this is one of my favorite scenes of Shivay and Annika. It lasts only for few seconds and there are no dialog.

The scene packs a punch, especially in hind sight. After the reveal of Tia and the plan of our musketeers, when you look back at their scenes, lot of it becomes more meaningful. Another favorite one is where Annika is in full 'Pati Parameshwar' mode and serves tea to Shivay. I will probably write about that next. Coming back to this, we really need to place this scene in context.

First lets talk about Pinky. I know it is sore spot for all of us, but work with me here folks. For years now for Pinky, Tia was her DIL. Tia was everything she was not, educated, sophisticated, aristocrat etc. May be she thought Tia would be the bridge between Pinky and Shivay. Anyway, all that changed when Annika became her DIL, totally anti-Tia. And everyone could see the connection between Shivay and Annika. So much so that Annika could reach out to him as no one could, not even Pinky. Then Daksh poisoned her mind. After everything, Shivay still supports Annika which means only one thing to her. That Shivay would become a puppet to Annika. She almost lost her son because he was busy saving Annika. Thus started the series of insults and taunts to Annika. And every time, Shivay has stood up for Annika. He was very vocal about it too. However, once their drama started, especially the wedding drama, Shivay could not be very vocal in supporting Annika. He did stop Pinky at times, but they had to be careful of showing support and concern openly. Annika had to take the sole burden of hearing insults day in and day out.

Then there is the fact that Annika is in close encounter with the public enemy number one and two aka Tia and Svetalana. Even though the plan was carried out from all of them, Annika was the one who was in dangerous situation throughout. Remember, Annika was the target of their assaults. She was being shot at, she was being framed for the Rudy's wedding leak. She was in constant danger.

Thirdly, Shivay had started their own game of 'Phark and no Phark', in midst of an already chaotic mess. He simply could not help but want Annika to feel the pain of his closeness with Tia. Because he feels the pain too. He cannot be with anyone than Annika. Every time he touches Tia, he hates it. He hates the fact that he is marrying her, even it a fake wedding. Because he would rather marry Annika hundred times. He hates the fact that he has to go through with it. He simply wants to know if Annika feels the same. This game within a game has taken its toll on both of them.

Annika is being pulled from all directions. Stress of dealing with insults from MIL, from all the acting, from being close with Tia, from having to see the person she loves being close to someone else, even if it is an act, stress from their Pharak games. Annika is in the center of hurricane. And She has to be strong. Shivay can see this and helpless to stop any of it. They have come so close to the completion of their plan. If they stumble now, all of this hardship would have been for nothing. What Annika is going through breaks his heart, her tears are tugging at his soul.

All the emotions comes out of them just before this sequence.

She comes and helps him out with wearing his sherwani. She cannot help but touch him, to offer him comfort as well as take comfort in the name of helping him with his clothes. Then she asks about his dinner. He does not look at her, he cannot look at her, for he is feeling so much at that time. He knows he will lash at her. But she insists. She is equally hurt that he is not even looking at her. The dam breaks and all the frustrations come pouring out.

Shivay is frustrated at the lack of progress. He was unable to find Romi. Upon that his mother is forcing one function after the other. He is angry at himself for forcing Annika to accept the 'Phark', but angry at her too, for why the hell she can't accept it when it is clear it makes a difference to her. He lashes out at her, and she requests not to do it. Not then, for she is feeling vulnerable right now. So close to the finish line, and she needs strength from him. But, he needs her strength too. This fake wedding has tied him in knots, he hates from the bottom of his soul. If something goes wrong then Shivay has to pretend to be married to Tia for longer time, thus cutting him off from Annika. Tomorrow could be the end of their problems, of the beginning of their separation. They pretend again and hurt each other.

Again they meet in Om's room. Her sadness reflected and reciprocated from him. He again asks if she wants to talk. She was already feeling the pinch of their separation. They are unable to find Dushyant, unable to find the chip. Things are not looking good. And Shivay will have to live with Tia till all of this is sorted out. She may as well say goodbye to him when there is a chance, this could be the last day they can acknowledge their relationship, whatever that may be. For him it feels like she is already giving up, on their mission and especially giving up on them. He does not want her to give up like this. This is not the end of them for him. He refuses to accept defeat and refuses to accept her goodbyes. He shouts at her. The entire thing is hurting them so much.

Then comes the time when he sees her during the dance. Everyone is happy, dancing and laughing, except her. She is apart from all of it. Never part of the family, nor a separate entity altogether, she is bound to him. They are both bound by this invisible thread. Every time they are apart, they are snapped back to each other. He crashed into her and remembers everything, how they fought, how they hurt each other. But mostly how he hurt her, because of his games, when the stakes were already high. She came to him and he lashed out at her. As she moves away from him, because she remembered it too, he goes after her. He holds her hand, offering the comfort she wanted sometime back and seeking comfort too. She again tries to move away, they are in public. They cannot afford to be seen like that. But he does not let her go. Not like that, not after they fought.

He looks at her like the miracle she is, she stood next to him time and again, even after everything he had done to her.
He looks at her like the solace she is, she offered him comfort when things went south.
He looks at her in wonder, how she could go through all of this for his sake.
He looks at her in silent apology, for hurting her with his games.
He looks at her with affection, she did so much for him already
He looks at her with reverence, wowing be worthy of her sacrifice.
He looks at her with fear, he may loose her tomorrow.
He looks at her with that unnamed emotion which binds them, finds it reflected in her eyes.
He touches her face oh so delicately, as delicate as the feelings between them.

She could see all of this and more in his eyes, in his touch. She almost lost her composure then and there. But she had to be strong, when he could not. She remembers their mission and what is at stake, when he could not. With great difficulty she moves away from him. He goes to her again, looks at her. He wants to make sure if she is alright, if everything is alright between them.

One the beautiful scenes, conveyed so much without a dialog between them.

So, what do you guys think? Please add your observations too...

Love
Kshithi

To be honest it is one of my favorite scenes too. NM & SC are just magic. They make us forget that it is just a show & we get entangled into them, into ShivIka. I loved your description. Sometimes I feel that we really need some closure in the show about what they went through back then. But this what you have written was just everything! Beautiful! Loved it!

What a wonderful analysis.

Enna Sonna is actually my fav song seq too. I think it's one of the best acted AND directed NM and SC scenes ever

Surprisingly, I was watching this very episode yesterday and what you've written here is EXACTLY what hit me, too.

In fact, I believe that fake marriage was prolly Anika's idea and Shivaay was mainly frustrated at three things: a) having to marry her and b) Anika saying no faraqs c) their plan failing till then.

You could see the adoration, helplessness, longing and love in his eyes. He wants to stop the nonsense but he can't. He knows what's at stake and what all Anika has had to go through.

The pati parmeshwar bits -
I'd live to hear what you've to say about it. Because it looked to me like anika was taking badla from him for chakku and forcing her to sleep on his bed. She was doing everything she KNEW would annoy him

Great analysis!

Amazing analysis. Beautifully written.
This is one of my favorite Shivika scene. NM and SC nailed this scene. True their expressions in this scene said what 1000 words could not have said, the fear and pain of loosing each other, tension as things don't seem work their way, frustrations and anger going on between the two. The song enna sona enlightened the whole scene by adding more beauty to it.

Such a heartfelt write up...❤️

I too agree that they had some genuine angst during the fake wedding buildup. SHivaay was genuinely upset, and wanted to hurt her for her indifference. He was showing so much inadvertently, and she was hiding behind her " faraq nahin padta hai" . Not a hint.

Every time, it was Shivaay who was wondering, Did it matter to you at all?

Every time he touched Tia, gave Tia lauding praises that he'd never given her ever.
Asking Tia to give him a head massage, dancing closely with her, blowing in her ear and fixing flowers in her hair...he wanted to know how Annika was feeling about it.

Every time he had to do all those outwardly romantic things, he found a way to show her that he valued her more. Each moment has him looking at her while she looks away.

But one name, Rohit. and his arrogance was reduced to smoke.😆
This man is a fool in love. Thankfully Annika is one who would stand by him no matter what, or how long it takes for him to feel what she feels.

Hi Ana,

Thanks for the lovely words. Yes, I would like a scene where they discuss what they went through during ML games. Not sure we will get one though. Things are already moving ahead with other tracks.
