Even I agree that Saumya losing weight is not a negative thing. It could be that she decides to change herself for herself. She feels that she needs to do something about her extra weight. Yes she was happy with it before or didn't care, maybe now she does.
More than the reason for losing weight, the important part is what she will do once she has lost the weight. As long as she doesn't make herself available to Rudra I dont care. The truth is Rudra fell for her as she actually was. Now what will happen is that he will openly show it (maybe) if she is outwardly changed, as she fits Rudra's "image". But as long as she gives him the Royal "ignore" and acts like she doesn't give a damn, I am good with it!

Saumya is not losing weight because of herself but because of the taunts of Rudra n that girl in the plane, they showed her recalling the taunts of them n then holding onto her pahunch miserably
Secondly she was not fat in an unhealthy manner but was just slightly overweight, she was never shown eating unhealthy food items but paraatha or sandwich which are perfectly fine for healthAgain the issue is with the same stereotyping that you are bringing that being fair is better or being thin is great, Rudra would love her when she would become thin. We expected Rumya to break that stereotyping n hence are not happy at this change in script
