Eros Says Bye Bye Bhavesh'
This movie has been in the news since Vikramditya Motwane decided to make Bhavesh Joshi, and that was three or four years ago. There was a legion of names mentioned as probables for the title role but the film never went on the floors.
Finally, a few months ago, the film began to roll, with Harshvardhan Kapoor playing the title role and Eros coming on board to fund it. Shooting proceeded smoothly, till it ground to a halt recently. There's talk in the trade that Eros has pulled out of the project. We'll just have to wait to see who comes on board next.
Kahaani SKF Ki
Now this one's no rumour but a hot topic of discussion in the film trade these days. The talk is all about one of the biggest superstars of all time, Salman Khan. And the topic of discussion is that, in the last couple of years, not one or two but six films have been shelved or his company opted out after they were announced by Khan's company, Salman Khan Films (SKF).
Starting with Happy Days (a remake of a Telugu film with the same title), followed by Mahesh Manjrekar's Hindi remake of his Marathi hit Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho, and another film with director Nikkhil Advani and actor Sooraj Pancholi post Hero. That's not all.
There was also a film to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, a joint venture between SKV and Atul Agnihotri's production house (a remake of a Korean film, An Ode To My Father). The company was also to make a remake of Punjabi film Jatt & Juliet, which was to launch actress Bhagyashree's son.
Last but not least, another joint venture was announced between Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and SKF, to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Mansukhani recently started shooting the film, titled Drive, featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez - no, SKF is not a part of the project.. Strange but true!
Quite Strange
This industry is all about rumours but then, there's no smoke without fire, right? Now what we've heard is unbelievable but that doesn't mean it's not credible. The news is that Fox Star Studios recently met with the Disney India team and expressed their desire to acquire the all-India distribution rights of the latter's next Hindi release Jagga Jasoos featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
PS: Let's make one thing clear - we aren't sure if this is true and we won't take any responsibility for the outcome. Chew on that!
