I think they changed the story line after Shaheer signed his movie, and they have been scrambling since to settle with a storyline. That is why if you watch the episodes they each are fine if you watch them as stand alone episodes but if you try to follow them as a story there are glaring mistakes and random changes. Things don't add up or are reversed in following episodes.
For example in the first episode after the leap where they introduced Dev he seemed up beat about his life and he seemed to have a purpose there is a line he says in his moms room like "people think I'm running around aimlessly but I'm not I have a reason/purpose". He seemed to know what his family was like, but today's Dev doesn't display that same persona and he now claims that his life has had no purpose since Sona left. Ishwari hasn't been the depressed lady she was in the initial episodes even before they told her about suhana.
They have closed the chapter of Vicky's fraud and have no explanation for Devs supposed one night stands. I feel like Jatin was a last minute introduction to cover for Shaheers absence during the movie shoot, but since the viewers freaked out they had to change the story line again to not upset loyal Devakshi fans. Also the remarriage track was dropped abruptly.
The fact that Dev didn't once check up on Sona is not at all like his character. I think cvs hoped that loyal fans would overlook that with the change in storyline after Shaheers movie signing and it seems that the fans are forgiving as long as there is scope for a reunion however illogical it maybe now. I think they are trying to find a way to keep the audience hooked and they have found it with Dev and Soha pairing so they are no longer rushing the Dev Sona reunion now which they would have if viewers hadn't gone gaga over the father daughter bonding. The mother daughter chemistry wasn't that great initially to keep loyal viewers happy.
The story had a lot of hope and potential in the first week of the show until they realized Shaheer was doing a movie and then it all went downhill. The first week of the leap almost seemed like we we're going to get our happy upbeat KRPKAB back like the first 100 episodes of the show. Dev would have been the ML all the loyal viewers were hoping for, but it was not to be not we have a butchered character.
