I think the difference in time lines is just teething issues.. I think the makers are experimenting with the spin off for the first time. They will take some time to figure timelines etc.
Once the 2 shows have moved onto the same set it will get easier to match the time lines and incidents.Like in both Shows Om is back in Oberoi Mansion as is Rudy

A spin off by defenition is not an "extension" of the original show. This is coming from someone who has watched many spin off's! The spin off consists of some characters from the original show. People from the original show can make "guest appearances" in the spin off, and visa versa (if the original show is still running). In some cases when the spin off started they were not, in some cases they were! But there is no issue of timelines matching. The idea is that BOTH shows can be viewed separately without any connection to each other! The only "confusion", if you can call it that, is for people watching both shows!
People need to stop viewing IB and DBO as an extension of each other! They are two shows with the same characters and some new ones. But not everything will be running parallel to each other. The idea is if you want to watch one or the other, you should be able to. Someone who never saw IB can watch DBO and there is no confusion. Same applies for anyone just watching IB and not DBO. Don't know why everyone is hell bent on connecting the two shows all the time. They can run separately. But for Indian audience this is a first, and it is a first for channel and show makers too.Don't forget that the DBO outdoor sequence was being shot from somewhere is Jan. So parts of their timeline will not match IB. It will take time for the two time lines to merge of sorts and people can move between the shows with ease. DBO was operating on a seperate parallel for two weeks. They were somewhere else. Both Om and Rudra. But now they are home the story can equalise. Maybe then audience watching both will not be confused. But the idea is to get anyone who has not watched either shows to pick one up and continue without wondering what is happening. That is the idea of a spin off. NOT to act as an extension of the original show.

Yaar even in the west's spin offs. The stories, esp the characters, have continuity. They don't have characters acting one way in one show and in another way in the other show. Look at TVD and The Originals.
Writers really need to work on this because right now, they're promoting the 2 shows as extensions of each other
