Shiv-Shakti-Shivraatri (Symbolism with Shiv Mythology)

I had said that Omkara's story is a beautiful combination of various parts of the Story Of Ram and The Shiva Mythology.
They even brought the Sufism and Meera's story beautifully into it.

In here I speak with respect to the Shiv Mythology.

Sati had given her life by jumping into the yajna organized by Daksh as he had failed to invite her husband Shiva to disrespect him. Shiva was deeply pained upon hearing of his wife's death. His grief grew into a terrible anger when he realized how Daksha had viciously plotted a treachery against him; but it was his innocent wife who fell into the trap instead of him. Shiva learned of Daksha's callous behavior towards Sati. Shiva's rage became so intense, that it was capable of destroying the entire world. At that time Brahma and Vishnu requested him to calm down.
There after Shiva went into deep meditation.

Her Omkara is in the transition from the rage to meditation mode.
The rage caused by Tej and Shwetlana, the pain caused by his mother's almost suicide. I feel now he will go into the deep mediation mode, impling that he wont be affected by what people do or say.

Sati reincarnated as Parvati, the daughter of the King Himavantha. The first word Paravati uttered was Shiva. But since Mahadev was in deep meditation Himawantha feared that Shiva would never accept Parvati as his wife. Narad told him that Shiva could be only won by meditation and devotion. Parvati took severe austerities and gave away all her royal privileges and went to forest.
She served and prayed to Shiva. Though Shiva was pleased with her devotion he took several tests.

Here Gauri has accepted Omkara as her husband. She now in course of time will show her devotion to her melt him, bring him out of his pain by her care, love and devotion.
Just the way paarvati did.
And also Om might test her. Test her the hard way, to free his heart from fear and accept her wholly.!

The test are necessary. If he doesn't test her now, there will be doubts in his heart and where there is doubt love can't sustain.
( Much Like Siya's Agni Pareeksha )

In one of the final tests, Shiva disguised himself as an old sage and told Paarvati that there was no point marrying Shivaay, he was a loner lived like a beggar and had nothing.

Om might test her this way and she will pass it. Because Gauri has already accepted him as her husband from all her-heart.

Shiv is incomplete without Shakti,
Shakti is incomplete without Shiv.

(Shakti is the name of Paarvati/Sati itself)

When these two energies combine the world exists.

Different legends describe the significance of Maha Shivaratri.
One of them says that on this day Lord Shiv married Paarvati.
On this day, many unmaaried young women observes fast and pray to the Lord Shiv to be blessed with a husband like him, as Maa Paarvati did.

While couples perform Pooja on this day, and pray for their relation to be like Shiv and Shakti's.

Coming to the episode,

They show Omkara leaving Gauri and the Thakur's men digging her into ground.
But Gauri's VISHWAAS stayed on her Lord Shiv, she knew he will be her protector always.

"Jiske Shiv ho Rakshak,
Uska Kaun Bhakshak!"

The one whose protector his the DESTROYER OF THE BAD- SHIV himself,
No power in the world can destroy that one.

She closes her eyes,
She doesn't look around for help,
She simply closes her eyes and kepps her Vishwaas,
Take's the Lord's name.

The snake around the neck of Lord Shivaa is the king of serpents Vasuki.
Another legend has it how Vasuki protected Sati.

Same thing happened here, The Snake emerged from behind the Shiv Ling, and became the protector of Gauri when her Lord was away.!

Then came in the children, don't we say Children are our the reflection of God.
There we had them sent by Lord Shiv himself.

Gauri runs, but is caught and brutally beaten.
This scene was just symbolic to the severe austerities Paarvati had to go through to attain Shiva.

The entire marriage sequence was like the parallel summary to their entire story.

And the we saw anger in Omkara's eyes.
When Shiv is angry the badies suffer,
Kali Thakur Messed with Lord Shiva's Bhakt Gauri, So he will have to pay for it.

He marries her, fills her maang with blood.
And at the background we have the tribal dance that is performed at Shivratri to celebrate the wedding, even the Gulaal in air, yes even during Shivraatri Gullal is played.
It marks the celebration of Union Of Shiv And Shakti.

Only When Shiv and Shakti are together can the world exist.
In terms of the modern terminologies, the Male and Female Energies.
Only when these two energies combine the world exists.!

Happy Maha Shivraatri...!

May the Lord always shower all of you with his blessings..!

I kept this post as small and crisp as possible.
Will talk about the Samundar Manthan and Shiv-Shati a little later...it is a long way for that to come.

This post is entirely based on my opinions as an individual.
Not meant to cause any offense to anything.
I also agree that a few of your opinions might differ from mine.
Tried to say it all in a nut-shell.
There could be different view to it as well.
I m sorry if I went wrong somewhere.

Cheers.

😊

I was in fact contemplating to write this up as my next post. ...😊

It's absolutely true...A lot of parallels are being drawn here...and the symbolism shown is relevant

Bahut acha likha hai.shayad vasuki naag ka compariso bahut acha laga.shiva dressed as old sage.here om as an artist or drug addict pata nahin
Shiv aut parvati ki baat chal rahi hai tho mujhe kuch yaad aaya hamare yahan bhajan hai ja shivji gangaji ko jata mein lekar aate hai.tho parvatiji ko bura lagta hai aur uttna bhi kehti hai ke aap agar jo nahin maane ke aapne uss lady ko jata main laya hai tho maon aapki jaya khulba dungi par who bhajan light mode mein hai abhi nahin bolna chahiye.par jatadhari shib shakti yeh sunke reh nahi paayi.par comparision bahut khubsiutat hai plz aap aisi likhte rehna aacha lagta hai.

I'm glad you wrote this, you have highlighted some really beautiful parallels between the two stories. I'm somewhat surprised that Gul thought so deep into this but it is a refreshing and much welcome change nevertheless.
I loved that marriage sequence even though I'm not very familiar with shiv mythology I could spot the symbolism there.
Enjoying the show more nowadays and so do your posts. This one was as beautiful as the one you wrote on vanvaas. Keep up the good work!
Love,
Sakura
