So I have these random thoughts as I ponder about all we see in this show. I would like to share these.
I was watching another favourite TV series of mine today and in relation to it and after introspection I realised how well dev's character has been chalked out. It's real for the very reason that it's imperfect. We will all agree that we have hated him as much as we have loved him. At least I have!
This is where he as male lead is so different from others who are monotonous if you know what I mean. Mens always very good doing all the right thing, or always dumb one understanding nothing. There are no shades, layers, dimensions. They are monochromatic, one sided.
But real people aren't like that right. We don't have to go to the virtual world for that. I see my own father... While he is the best father one can be, he can really get on my nerves sometimes. He has some views, or habits which a abhor. And these two sides of him is one person only. And it is also not that he has changed for good a lot over the years. It's really difficult to change such fundamental things about once self. So why do we expect dev or sona to do so?
In fact I love the character for the fact that he is one the one making the most mistakes in the show even though he is the lead. That's a real bold step I think!
Another aspect I want to mention. I absolutely love can't get over the fact that here we have to leads who despite knowong that they love and are loved by the other... Are in a place to accept that they were not meant to be and can't be together. At some place they are also aware of the mistakes they made, his mom made, the circumstances etc etc. Though he still tries to catch her attention trying to see whether she is burning as much as she is, but for most part this separation is much more mature than the previous one. And well dev was always the less mature one!
Related to this dev having learnt to live without her love, having acknowledged only a hate relation with her, sona accepting her having been at fault, jatin talking about how some people just can handle one relation at a time.. All of this seems to mature for a show on Indian TV that it amazese. This show too has its faults and lows but that doesn't take away the fact that it has etched some really beautiful characters. And it has always tried to make up, which is why I love it. There effort can be seen!
Sorry, thora heavy dose ho gaya lagta hai but I thought since its a quite weekend we can afford to mull over some tights. Would love to hear your thoughts!!
