JNDSD~ My take Thursday 16th February 2017 ~ This lady is not for turning!
Madness is clinically seen as mental illness, which come under the stages of mild to severe. There are many words equated with madness and define its range. In its severe form its described as insanity or lunacy. In mild form it may be referred to as folly. A moment of sheer madness where one commits an extraordinary task under dangerous situations. One can seem mad with enthusiasm! or become mad with rage that may well suggest loss of control. Or be fury which can lead to destruction verging upon madness. Love though is often seen as an emotional state related to the heart that fills a being with senses and emotions that can only be termed as a much desired willing madness. The characters in today's episode all in their own way throw some light on what madness lurks within them.. and how each's madness has impact upon circumstances .
At the dining table Atharv feigns a brought upon madness .. his "madness has method about it! He's testing the boundaries of Vividha's perseverance! Alongside, Atharv ensures he remains the centre of attraction of all at the table. His mad streak continues with his, so called jests and twinkly cheeky tongue sticking , pouting and teeth flashing silly grins. How his demented gestures, contrast with Vividha's screwed eyes and cold stares.Her freeze in fact grills him. But his motive to put her off is stronger than his caution of not to give her grief.. finally he gets to his plate, that shows him his worth in this family. Atharv's plate is his destiny upon which its Ravish whom Atharv wishes to dish out his share. In doing so Atharv takes away Vividha's prerogative of dishing out his food.. in fact he aims to show all, how he now renounces her duty of care!Atharv in the main is a victim of Vividha's piercing stare, if looks can kill, he is history! Still he is ready to take spoonfuls of poison to see her happy in the long run..
Suman s madness is her bitter rage at both her and her son Ravish playing the second fiddle to Suman and her son Atharv. Her stroke of madness forces her to jump to assumptions only to feed her mad whims of getting Vividha and Ravish back together. So when she orders the mandap to be taken off.. Atharv enters the clearing session. What stroke of luck the intent in his madness is taking effect . All signs of traditional marriage are being removed! Madness of him and Vividha getting married is thanks to his feigned madness becoming unlikely. All is well till the love of his life arrives and demands to know why the requisites for the wedding were being removed? Atharv gives a hand in tidying up.. any signs of his marriage.. distant and detached he gathers the vermala ..its flowers are colorless and scentless for him .. love's fragrance is lost and the colors faded .He dare not face Vividha.. but he can hear the crossfire of challenges, defiance and protest Vividha launches on Suman at the removals of the ritual arrangements. Vividha is filled with the madness. Aright to love!and the rightful madness to marry Atharv. To Vividha the likes of Suman who see a problem in Atharv are the ones who are foolish! Yes! and yes! she will marry him and on the double too regardless of the state Atharv is in! Suman in her uncontrolled frenzy against Atharv and Sujata leaves no stone unturned to prevent vitharv marriage! But then Vividha bound by the madness of her love for Atharv proves to Ravish , Suman, Sujata ,Uma and Atharv she is no shrinking violet!! Atharv bears the pain... the last thing he wanted was families coming apart!...His Vividha's disoriented, infuriated, love for Ravish is clashing against his deceptive mad love..
The madness of her belief in her love.. equips Vividha now to wage war against all sorts of so to speak well meaning opposition to her marrying Atharv. Atharv too within himself knows that Vividha's mother and his mother will challenge her decision.. I think he also knows that Vividha will kick up a fuss and oppose all that Uma and Sujata suggest, like she did with Suman and exclaimed rather vehemently to the world that she will marry Atharv no matter what! But this stubborn madness of Vividha does not suit the purpose of his mad love!
Sujata and Uma try to dissuade Vividha that as much as they wanted Atharv to marry her.. things were quite different now they raise the question of his disability.. but Vividha is not the lady for turning.. she challenges their narrow ,stereotyped view of his disability making him any less than her! yes she would care for him regardless !whereas Sujata looks out for Vividha in terms of losing out on her dreams, of a young girl by spending her life in tending to her sons needs .. Uma is more interested in Atharva being unfit to fulfill his responsibilities towards Vividha. But Vividha too disputes their views by throwing back at them.. had Atharv suffered this illness after marriage would Sujata and Uma suggest then too! that she should abandon her husband?? Vividha boldly tells them she loves Atharv and rituals did not bind her ..she had long ago accepted Atharv as her husband! As far as she goes the marriage will go ahead right away! Such is the madness of her love!
Vividha needs support, although within herself she is pleased her positive madness has infused her with much determination in digging her heels. Still she looks for Ravish to brief him about her decision. Ravish as always bends backwards to assist and support. As she expects he assures her that he supports her decision.. Vividha knew he is one objective, calm person who always believed in uniting her Atharv. He is a friend figure and as such she does share with him, what people think about her as being mad in marrying Atharv in his present state condition... Vividha reiterates, that life for her begins with the name Atharv and will end upon the same name! such is her madness ! Ravish adds to her comment love without madness is not love.. Ravish's love for Vividha is a madness that forges her with her true love Atharv. Atharv's mad love is his foolish belief that Vividha and Ravish have an eye for each!..all nothing! but the folly of his eyes!! .. foolishness Atharv ..partly true, as Ravish loves Vividha but Vividha only loves the pretend madman called Atharv !
For Atharv there are people like Ravish and Vividha who still show sanity and thus are likely to thwart his plans of calling his and Vividha's marriage off. He has to become his mother sane son and confesses he is well! He realizes he has to take his mother into the loop of his act of madness!tell her it's his act! that works to a hidden agenda..he baffles Sujata, but manages to convince her that she too will see in due course that Vividha and Ravish love each other .. Such mad contradiction of perceptions..Ravish appeals to his mother..this planned marriage will go ahead! As Vividha and Atharv love each other.. Vividha told him so how she feels about Atharv!
So we have it three strong minded individuals all committed to their own madness that revolves around their perception of how they see love..will they come together towards a practical solution which makes them see some sanity in this insane circumstance of love..only time will tell. The episode though belongs to Vividha.. she will not carry out Uturns when it comes to Atharv.. no negotiations as Vividha only follows the madness of her heart..
Precap: if he wants to play insane games then Vividha too will become his doll and like before ask him to marry her in all her child like innocence.. Atharv plays on.. NO! Vividha has to seek out the inference.. which Atharv rejects her.. mind you which ever way shelooks it ..her reaction will be, he is mad! Hamlet53 17.2.17
