Okay, I am not going to be that coherent here, so you are forewarned😃
What a smashing episode, I just loved it to bits. It was full-on angst: painful, gut-wrenching, khidkitod angst throughout. But man, the FEELS.❤️ In my humble opinion this episode goes down as one of the most poignant episodes in IB ever!👏
Episode starts with Mrs Kapoor playing her trump card and trying to make use of Anika's memory loss to expedite the divorce. The sheer illogicality of this aside, I loved the myriad emotions and reactions it brought forth in Shivaay and Anika.❤️
Anika confronts the painful truth that Shivaay was about to divorce her. And yes, as the rest of the family except Dadi-Pri demonstrated, they hate her and want her out of their lives😡 What a bunch of turncoats, the Oberois, especially Tej and Shakti! This was the same girl who saved your sorry as*es, but they have forgotten that of course!🥱
I LOVED how steadfast SSO was today, standing up for his wife. She was his focus throughout, the rest of the world be damned! 👏The look of anxiety and concern that he gave Anika when Mrs.Kapoor and Pinky started spouting their crap, he was only worried as to what effect it would have on her fragile emotional state. And the way he shut Tej down and asked him not to interfere was 👏
There were two lovely, wholesome scenes. The first was their conversation where Shivaay tries his best to explain to Anika that his heart was not really in the divorce, while telling himself that he cannot reveal the truth because Anika doesn't know and understand him any longer, and Mrs Kapoor is also forcing his hand. And gotta LOVE how Anika asked all the pertinent questions: why are they together, when there is no love in their relationship, when the whole family hates her to bits, when he is the father of Tia's child?
I especially loved her remark about why he made new memories for her and asserted himself to be her husband when they were going to divorce anyway. Why couldn't he have let her just forget, only to remind her and give her unbridled pain with all these revelations? The STRICKEN look on Shivaay's face said it all!
SSO however resorts to his defense mechanism and says that she trust him unquestioningly, and seals the deal with a PINKY PROMISE⭐️ What he asserted, however, was significant-- that he can never, ever, let her go, that he can never see tears in her eyes And that irrespective of what happens, he will always ensure her well-being and wants to see her safe and happy. He also blurted out, "mein tumse...", but was unable to complete the sentence. As always, Shivaay shows how bad he is with words. 😳 But if the rest of the episode was an indication, his actions spoke volumes!❤️
The fact that THE GREAT WALL OF SHIVAAY was ready to leave his home and his family in the dark so as to ensure Anika's recovery in a better environment- Woah. If this doesn't delineate the magnitude of his love, I don't know what does.
Anika is the one who has apparently told the family about them leaving, and Shivaay is LIVID. The look of betrayal on his face was heart-wrenching😭 That despite him telling her to trust him, she had broken the sanctity of their pinky promise. And when she, of all people, told him to marry Tia, he looked as if it was his personal apocalypse playing out- as if everything had come to an end!😭
The second scene by the tree was even more angsty- SSO confronts her angrily, expressing his hurt at what he perceives to be her betrayal. SSO questioning her about why she cannot embrace the ehsaas that remains, the essence of their relationship, despite her "dimag" giving way- why she cannot listen to her "dil", her heartbeats- MY GOODNESS. This role-reversal, would we have envisaged it ever? To hear the great Shivaay Singh Oberoi being so vulnerable, so stricken, so heart-broken, talking about the potency of emotions...❤️ That he would side by "dil" in the eternal struggle of the head and the heart? And the look of sheer devastation and loss when she said that she cannot remember the ehsaas because she has no memories, and also because he doesn't care to clarify the nature of their relationship, even now.
Anika again reveals the myriad doubts that plague her about the status of their relationship, that remain irrespective of her memory loss. I loved how she voiced them today, her memory loss gives her the apt pretext to voice all these questions. What is their future, what validation does he give her, other than asserting that she is important to him. Ehsaas agar rishte ko jodta hai, Naam usse pehchaan deta hai. Why is he so hesitant to bare his feelings in front of her? So it is evident to her that they are two people with no past (as far as she is concerned), no future, staying in a loveless relationship without validation. So she asks him again to let her go and marry Tia.😭 Again he is on the verge of confessing a truth that he fully doesn't realize, the enormity of what she means to him, of how he can never do without her, the magnitude of her presence in his life...but it is too late. 😭Episode ends with the all too familiar stubborn expression on Shivaay's face which makes it clear that he is on the path of self-destruction- if he is experiencing boundless pain, if she is going to destroy everything that they have built and experienced together- so be it. He, the master businessman, will return it in spades! 😭
All I can say is, my heart went out to both of them today!😭With Shivaay I could understand where he was coming from, he is by nature not so demonstrative and lets his actions speak for himself. Anika too, I understood where she was coming from, because relationships, especially a fulfilling, meaningful and functional marriage, needs validation in the form of revealing your innermost selves to each other, acknowledging what you mean to one another. So yeah, this episode was the MOTHER OF ALL ANGST-FESTS. Shows you why we love and adore this couple so much. ⭐️
PRECAP: Anika leaving and Tadibaaz SSO asking her to plan his wedding. Is this his last-ditch attempt to get his Anika back, by going to their beginning and recreating it, or is he reciprocating the pain that she has given him? Either way, it is heart-breaking!😭
P.S. The Oberois are such ingrates/meanies. With the exception of OmruPri-Dadi-Jhanvi and SSO, of course. I hope the rest of the bunch rots in hell!😡
