Is Abhi teaching Pragya to love herself?

I was incredibly impressed with Abhi's dialogues in the February 14th episode when he was emphasizing to Pragya that she should have a care for herself. He asked her to consider her own safety and when that didn't impact her he pointed out that she needs to keep in mind what her loved ones would feel if something happened to her. Pragya held her own by replying that she was motivated for his safety, but I was still really pleased and gratified that this conversation happened at all.


Abhi is telling Pragya to value herself, which she doesn't do most of the time. She values him and her family and her duties but not herself. Her safety and her happiness are less important to her than taking care of her loved ones. Right from the beginning when Pragya was experiencing heartbreak with Suresh, I hoped and wished that Abhi would be the one to bring light and love into her life - not just by loving her but by making her feel and understand that she herself is valuable too.

Seems like we are finally getting that, at least for the space of one scene!!! Here's hoping it continues. This is a great demonstration of maturity and care from Abhi, that he's able to channel his own need to see Pragya safe and happy into helping her see that she needs that for herself. On the surface we have a situation where Abhi is asking Pragya to care for herself for his sake - even if she doesn't care what happens to her, he damn well does. But if it has the effect of making Pragya care for herself, I definitely see something to celebrate!
