JNDSD~ My take~ 14th February 2017~ Having cold feet!
To have cold feet is a popular saying which means to have regrets to having agreed upon a situation which is tricky and far from easy , and is uncomfortable. Today's episode reminded me of this phrase. Who gets cold feet and on account of whom or why ? I leave up to you ..
Atharv Sujata has till date lived with his mother , a boy brought up by a single mother and well proud of the fact that as mother and son both face the highs of lows with grace and dignity. They basically got on with life. He was quite open about how he felt about his father and the rest of his paternal side. His mother fulfilled all his needs, hence he was content with having a small family . Never felt the urge to latch on to his father's side, as things were chugging along fine . He was set in making an honest living, was ,even in love with the girl next door. But then events took a turn, a wild turn in which he lost touch with time. But once he was catapulted back in time and life appeared once again as normal. Things are changing in his life. His perception of issues, especially in matters pertaining to the heart were undergoing changes. Rather subtly, being in love with Vividha is also making him realize about those relationships he was unaware off, partly because he was blank about his family. But things happen for the best. Had KK not carried out his dangerous meddling in splitting Atharv and Vividha , had not beaten Atharv to a pulp. Ravish would not have stumbled across this first part of his father's family! So Vividha married Ravish and now presently she is being formally divorced ,with the intent that Vividha unites with her true love Atharv. As convoluted as they may appear the end seem sensible , right and respectable. The problem that looms up presently is by the fact that Vividha is flanked by two men who happen to be two long lost stepbrothers..as far as Vividha is concerned she loves the brother called Atharv but was married before to the other brother ,namely Ravish .But by her signature on the divorce papers she clearly indicates her choice whom she loves!
However its interesting to note that the once only child brought up by his mother, Atharv Sujata willingly embraces the responsibility of being the older brother who can in no way over ride something for which his younger brother Ravish holds a soft spot. It's like giving up his prize possession for the sake of seeing his brother happy. But then this possession they refer to in her absence is Vividha the girl both love. Ravish , though points out its best to understand which of the two Vividha loves. Atharv knows it's him, but he is also more concerned about the love he sees for Vividha in Ravish's eyes. Even though Ravish tries to convince Atharv that's its him she loves. Within Atharv there is an underlying guilt, perhaps of what transpired between their families. How adrift husband and wife have its repercussions not just between two individuals but extends to dividing families as well. Does Atharv in pointing this out, insinuate that his mother and him stayed away and survived so that the peace of Ravish s household was not disturbed ? This confession , lumbers guilt upon Ravish and he feels more than ever determined to make it up to Atharv by giving him vivdha for all the wrongs perpetrated upon him and his mother by the Vashist family over the years? whereas Atharv realizes himself in role of an older brother and is ready to sacrifice his love for his younger brother despite the fact that he was told by Ravish and he knows too that Vividha loves him.. Atharv is far from accepting. Could this be due to the fact that Ravish apparent anguish unhinges Atharv?? All of Ravish's chivvying him for his the marriage really falls short off Atharv, as he feels weighed down by guilt that he is robbing his brother of his true love...the question that troubles me is that why and who is piling on guilt upon him? that Atharv is having cold feet about the woman he loves? This scene leaves me with a feeling.. from Vividha's point of view that both brothers are trying to upstage each other. As to who performs the greater sacrifice ? makes me wonder which of the super trio is the sacrificial lamb??
One more thing that causes unease in Atharv about his about to be solemnized marriage apart from the guilt he suffers from seeing unfulfilled love in Ravish's eyes, is to 0bserve how, Ravish's mother Suman treats Sujata. Jewelry was being thrown at her, for the new DIL of the house ie Sujata's son Atharv s wife !the older son of the household. So much so for thinking of himself as part of this household.. a son.. well!! he will always remain Sujata's son, without a doubt. But he will endeavor to be an older brother.. to Ravish.
Suman's son Ravish comes to his mother for support . His darkest hour approaches and for his sake she will have to keep up appearances like he does, to fulfill soldier's duty.. his promise to Vividha! She clearly means the world to him! Even Sujata attempts to dissuade Ravish about the marriage ,but instead he implores her to support him..
Where ever Atharv casts his roving eyes or walks into situations, he gets the vibes that all is not fine in this world here. Suddenly Atharv detaches himself.. he has things to mull over, he cannot put his finger on what he plans to do? Till on chutki's phone, he meets the trouble free, child like Atharv! This can well be an honorable bailing out! from the present grief.. a free discourse of numbness .. The hour for the wedding approaches. Chutki teases him out of his malaise ..he will have to get dressed ! and show up for the ceremony. Coming down the stairs decked as the groom, holding Chutki's hand.. he stops on the stairs. His eyes feast upon the love of his life Vividha.. stunning enough to knock him dead..she is simply ,purely, beautiful. For a brief second their eyes meet..his sparkled quizzically, but she looks away at Ravish..
This way would be better for all decides Atharv and releases his hand from Chutki's ..takes the next step ..misses! and tumbles down to the floor.. my way out is to go back to when I saw for the sake of seeing and was at a loss to perceive. ..Atharv! screams Vividha .. but he is past hearing or comprehension..
Precap: its appears the child in him returns.. is this to relive how he was..?last time he was lost ..maybe he can decipher what goes on this time ? when all around him are normal but he is not all there?or is Atharv checking would Vividha marry a child like Atharv ?
For me, as for many of us the episode has not come as a surprise. Signals were being given that Atharv and Vividha will suffer jolts and air turbulence during their flight to the land of their dreams.. apart from this, to me certain catch phrases stay with me .. nameless relationship, consolation prize..guilt on both fronts...sweeping off the guilt.. easy way out , bailing out.. moral obligation, amicable settlement.. and last but not the least when will Vividha throw the spanner in the works?
