'Afsar Bitiya' actress Mitali Nag is PREGNANT!

New Delhi: Its time to congratulate TV actress Mitali Nag. Well, the actress who rose to fame with the character of Krishna from Afsar Bitiya is set to embrace motherhood.

The actress who tied the knot with longtime beau Sankalpp Pardeshi in year 2014 is pregnant and the baby is due in January. The delivery would take place in Mitali's home town Nagpur.

The would-be-parents have also decided the name of their child. While talking to leading daily Times Of India, Mitali said,"We have decided to name our child after Lord Shiva, be it a girl or boy."

Unlike other TV celebs, Mitali has not taken any leave. She said, "I do all the work, be it cooking and cleaning. It's a beautiful experience and women are strong to take on everything. I would love to shoot till the ninth month of my pregnancy."

"I'll be doing a play. I don't play a pregnant woman in that, and will be wearing loose costumes to camouflage my bump. It's interesting that my baby kicked me incessantly during the first reading of the play," the actress further added.

Did You Know: Afsar Bitiya' Fame Mitaali Nag Was Rejected Many times Because of Her Dark Complexion!

Do you remember serial Afsar Bitiya? The show revolved around the lead female character, Krishna Raj's dreams of becoming a block development officer (BDO). This show witnessed the entry of actress Mitaali Nag in the television industry.

Serial Afsar Bitiya which premiered in the year 2011 was very popular amongst the audience. After running successfully for a year, the show bid adieu to its audience. However, during this one year journey, lead actress Mitaali Nag's acting skill was highly acclaimed by the viewers.

But did you know Mitaali who is also known as the dusky beauty of television faced few hurdles in the initial stage of her career. Well, the reason behind it was nothing than her dark complexion!

Recently, in an interview with Dailybhaskar.com, Mitaali Nag said, "Initially, I did face few hurdles in my acting career because of my dark skin tone. I was rejected many times. In fact, sometimes it happens now also. I still face the situation where people don't call you back. And I remember during Afsar Bitiya time, I did come across some people for whom only fair skin was important. No matter, how good actor you are; it was not taken into consideration by many of them. But yes, television is progressing now; the situation is not the same. I don't know how long we as actors will have to face color blind casting in this industry. I am desperately waiting for that day where people just don't see what color you are and they just accept you the way you are."

Interestingly, the makers of Afsar Bitiya were very much happy with Mitaali's acting skill. In fact, they asked the actress to apply a darker tone of makeup for their show.

Talking about the same, Mitaali says, "Yes, it's true. In Afsar Bitiya, I was asked to put a darker tone of makeup. In reality, I wasn't that dark which audience saw me on the screen. I had a lighter tone. My producers were very much happy with the way I carried myself on the screen."

Mitaali Nag who was born and brought up in Nagpur came to Mumbai in the year 2007. Before joining Afsar Bitiya, she participated in few reality shows. She was never sure about acting because of her non glamorous looks.

The actress says, "I always wanted to become an actress but I was not sure about my looks. Usually, people prefer fair and tall girl as the lead actress of the show; I always felt that I am not an actress material. One day, while I was on my way to my hometown, Nagpur, I got a call from one of my friend for this Afsar Bitiya role. Since, I was travelling, I couldn't give my audition. I recorded my video with just basic makeup and an old pair of clothes in Nagpur. Surprisingly, channel people loved me and I was selected for the show. It was a big break for me."

She was just 25 when she got the role of Afsar Bitiya. The lady was offered similar kind of roles which she refused doing it. "This is the drawback of television; you get typecast. Just because I have a dark tone, I do not want to get typecast for a certain role. I could fit in other characters also," says Mitaali Nag.

Apart from Afsar Bitiya, Mitali has also done shows like Draupadi, Anudamini and Code Red. She studied in St. Joseph Convent School in Nagpur. She further completed her studies in Hislop College, Nagpur.

The beautiful lady is now married to Sankalp Pardeshi who is an interior designer by profession.

Mitali's mother, Nalini Nag is a trained singer. In fact, Mitaali was pursuing her singing career before Afsar Bitiya. But because of her hectic schedule, she could not continue with it. After the show ended, she again started concentrating on her music career.

So far, this beautiful lady has achieved lots of awards for her acting skills. But winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award was the best moment for her.

"Out of all the awards I won after my acting career started, the best achievement for me was winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award. At such a beginning of my career, I have been conferred upon such a prestigious award. It was a very big motivation for me. I will surely live up to it," said Mitaali Nag.

The actress has recently recreated her own version of Mere Desh Ki Dharti' on YouTube. It has got a very good response. She has already started working on her next song.
