What did Maya do to deserve life long sentence. I just do not get it.

i think it has something to do with her nana ji's death (maybe around maya's ninth bday)

and for some reason i feel like ashwin had killed him because in one of the episodes he said mujhe chuhey maarne ki aadat hai

and after that i think ashwin got fake proofs to show that maya did it and proved that her mental condition was not sound

and from then on i think maya has been scarred for life, and her depression probably began then
