They can afford to get whoever they want. If they really wanted someone else, it's not like Deepika's 40% reduction matters at all.
People accuse DP's PR of being so hostile but I'm sure other stars do all the same stuff. Seems like DP is going to get this deal so they want to put as much negativity around it as possible.
All are crabs in a bucket.
It's naive to think that multinational corporation aren't sensitive about the amounts they shed to get an ambassador. They do work on budget (allocated per world regions, departments and projects).
Following the financial crisis, every corporation has been careful about the money they pay and ensured it would bring some benefit. Alas, Katrina's dud as their ambassador was a lesson they had to learn and I don't think they want to take another risk.
Katrina was big when they chose her but the ROI musn't have been sufficient hence her being replaced.
Deepika isn't such a big star for l'Oreal to go out of their way to get her. Otherwise they would have chosen her over Katrina two years ago as even then, Deepika was big in India at the time.
If they were to make a survey in India, I'm sure Katrina and Deepika would arrive on top of Sonam, Aishwarya and even Freida but from experience, the three girls have brought them more than Katrina did so they might consider that taking Deepika is risky too.
I won't mention XXX as the discussions regarding this deal might have been taking place before the movie released.
