Hey guys in this thread I am going to be discussing the ArYa wedding promo. [In case you haven't seen it, here's the link. Credits go to the respective owner: https://www.instagram.com/p/BP7p8jZA9p3/ ] I will begin with my personal opinions on it and the proceed to an analysis.
[This is my personal opinion. It is not meant to hurt anyone's feeling. It is negative criticism, so if you have any problem with that, skip to the analysis.]
To be completely honest, I am not the biggest fan of Maya's wedding look. Her makeup looks terrifying, she looks like she could be the Indian version of the zombie bride!! I know it isn't the makeup artists' fault and I'm aware her makeup was meant to look like it did, but it's a bit too scary for one's own wedding. I absolutely hate her makeup, I expected so much more on her wedding as Maya always looks great. We mostly see Maya with very neutral and subtle makeup, and while change is good they didn't need to make her look like Maleficent.
Coming to her outfit, I don't have any problem with that, it did, in fact, look quite pretty from the glance we got of it in the promo, the colours really suit Jenny so I think neck down she looks great. But Good Lord, I am never going to stop complaining about her makeup.
Analysis
There's several things to be discussed about this promo, I'll begin from the beginning 😆:
1. I think by now we all know that Maya's solution to her smudged mehendi will be a permanent tattoo of Arjun's name on her arm. I expect Maya to say something along the lines of mehendi eventually fading with time but her love, like her tattoo is permanent and will remain there forever.
2. In the promo, it is said that "Haldi ghulegi, par rang kuch aur hoga". As we saw in the promo, the haldi is replaced by blood in Arjun's hand. While this could mean many thing I have a theory different from what I have read so far in the forum.
Theory 1 (Read somewhere in the forum): I read some people on the forum think that the blood on Arjun's hand could symbolise that he will be accused for Ashwin's death or something of the sort. This is completely a possibility, but I think it may have a deeper, not so literal symbolism.
Theory 2 (My theory): Haldi and blood, yellow and red respectively are two very different colours. In the promo we see Arjun shocked to find blood on his hand, since he was expecting haldi. I think this could symbolise the future lives of Arjun and Maya. After the wedding, I think their lives will turn out to be much different than expected. The same way Arjun expected haldi in his hand and found blood, I think ArYa will come to face unexpected obstacles in their journey.
3. Anyone else noticed how when Arjun and Maya were getting married in the promo, no one else was around? It was only the two of them. This may mean that they get married without the blessings of the elders, which would be considered inauspicious according to Indian rituals (Not that ArYa cares about this kind of stuff).
4. My last and most important point. Elements. In an interview with either the director or one of the Beyhadh writers, I can't remember clearly, the interviewee said that elements play a very big role in ArYa's relationship and that one more 'hatke' element would be added to their relationship on the wedding day. As we have seen so far, Maya proposes to Arjun on a hot air balloon - air. Arjun proposes to Maya under the sea - water. Arjun and Maya will take their pheras around the agni - fire. However, I do not think fire will be the only element added during the wedding. The pheras around the fire, are not at all hatke and I think that for this too, I have a theory:
I'd like to believe that the element added to the ArYa wedding may be death. In the promo we see Maya and Arjun take their pheras around Ashwin's funeral pyre (this may be just an indication of death in the series and not the literal scene). I think death can be the major hatke element of this wedding. Maya may decide to start this new beginning from another person's ending, we all know that seems like a very Maya thing. While Saanjh has seemed to understand the fact that another person's sorrow cannot bring ourselves happiness, I think Maya would not bother thinking twice if someone's sadness made her happy. We have seen in one of the recent episodes Maya's satisfactory and proud grin after having stood up to and threatened Ashwin. I think Ashwin's death would bring Maya a lot of happiness after all he has put her through, and I think she may want to establish the foundation of her relationship with Arjun on this happiness of hers, even if it is another person's death.
