It's gonna be a looong read so please, bear with me! 😛
Maya Mehrotra has been intriguingly pulling me towards her character - There's something about her that feels oddly familiar to me, maybe it's her no-nonsense attitude, or her display of power in the way she talks and walks. I've always wanted to be so powerful that everyone has to stand up whenever I walk into a room, that's my aim 😆 But not only that, it feels really weird saying this out loud but I suffer from seasonal depression so some of her words and tendencies really do reach out to me. I may not be as extreme as Maya, but I can put myself in her place and understand why she'd do things, especially given her story. I hate it when people call her evil because she's not - Maya isn't evil, she is disturbed. The difference between that is huge but to make it simple, whatever Maya does, she does it because it's the only way she has ever known. With parents like Jhanvi and Ashwin; both of who are nowhere near sane, she has never really seen normalcy closely. And this way she uses - her establishment of power, has always worked. Therefore, she never looked for any other way. I'd really, really hate (and will definitely stop watching) if they make Maya negative because along with being the most cliched thing ever, it would also be very unfair to the story line - just like making Viraj negative and inconsiderate then completely destroying Niraj in NAUC was. There was so much potential in that, like there is here in Maya, and I'd kill me to watch it being ruined! I believe Maya can be cured if she is led to that aid, and I really hope she is, too.
Now, coming to ArYa - I do ship ArYa. I've always been very "I SHIP THEM!!!" about shows because I'm a cheesy little person who loves those lovey-dovey moments between people, it's what makes the show even more enjoyable for me. 😆
When people say Maya will ruin Arjun's life and stuff, it kinda irks me because I think Arjun's love will be one of the most important factors that bring her back to normal, if she doesn't turn negative and the story goes that way. I don't think you guys have watched it, but there's a Bengali movie called "Hemlock Society." It's a movie I hold really close to my heart and it's about a girl who attempts suicide but is saved by a guy who takes her with him then slowly shows her how important life actually is - and part of that process was making her fall in love with him, even though he has a fatal disease. And honestly, love is a beautiful feeling and Maya has never had anything like that, so she is using that only way she knows to keep this going. Maya falling for Arjun wasn't her fault at all because that's a girl who had her walls so high up, she never needed anyone; and even if unknowingly, Arjun kept becoming a part of her life and tbh if I was Maya, I'd fall for Arjun too. She didn't just look at Arjun and fall for him because he had a pretty face, no - she fell for him because he gave her the strength she couldn't muster up even after all those years of facing the same fears. Maya needs help that could bring her out of this darkness and no one around her has ever been sane enough to take that step towards the help - I really hope Arjun becomes that person and leads her to the counseling and medication she needs, to get out of this mess.
About Saanjh - I really liked Saanjh in the beginning, she seemed very sensible and smart and it was nice to see. But slowly, she turned a bit annoying - It was her and her family (and Arjun's Mum too) seeing Maya as some third person who snatched away Arjun. I don't think it was Maya's fault Saanjh didn't confess her feelings earlier, and so Maya was the first to get through to Arjun. I don't hate Saanjh, but her reluctance about certain things feels untrue to her character to me. Moreover, I can't picture Saanjh and Arjun as a couple. I don't know what it is, but something never feels settled when it comes to them.
Saanjh and Arjun are soulmates, platonic love at its purest, just the perfect friendship. But that's all I see there. And I really hope Saanjh gets over Arjun because I know the love runs deep and far, but he takes her for granted and she's generally a great girl who deserves a guy that loves her from the first glance, taking in her kindness and chirpiness. And honestly, Saanjh has that backing - If she makes up her mind to get over Arjun (which she almost did!) her family will be right there, supporting her and doing everything in their might to help her through it. So I hope she takes advantage of that and ends up with someone a lot better, who loves her for who she is, not because she has been there throughout his whole life or helped him (Ayaan/New entry maybe)! It's just not fair to her to be suffering like this, neither is it logical. Instead, I hope she'll help Arjun if he tries getting Maya back to normal, because she seems like that level-headed person; even though it seems like Arjun takes better decisions sometimes but then again, character development is a good thing. 😛
Basically, my ideal story line/ending would be this: We get to see Maya's "Beyhadh-ness" (that's what gives us all the thrills! 😉) and at a point, Arjun and Saanjh help Maya get out of this state of mind she's stuck in, while Saanjh ends up with someone who actually deserves her - with the moral of the story being that problems like these aren't always indestructible and the people suffering don't necessarily have to be disdained or isolated from the whole community or called pagals. 😊
And lastly, SORRYYY for such a long post! I've thought about penning down my thoughts but never got around to it... But today, after seeing Maya's scene when she's rocking back and forth and trying her best to stay in control, I really couldn't hold back because that scene really touched my heart. I hope you all enjoyed my post and if you did, please do leave a comment! I'd love to get acquainted with you all 😃
Hope you all have a lovely day ahead, thank you for reading it all if you have 😛 xx
