Dear Shyamala,
Thank you. This was actually a poem of grief by a mother over the loss of her daughter. I stumbled on it when I was looking for such poems.
Akka.

This is truly lovely, Akka. It brings out perfectly the helpless, agonizing heartache one feels when faced with sudden, gut-wrenching loss . You are a wizard at locating such poems👏, Akka, I do not know how you do it!

Awesome update
Heera's maid always create some or the other fuss
I so wish if only Akbar would have send that flower although which seems to be impossible with present behavior
Hope the last ritual for Durga give Heera some peace
Azeez took Akbar's case quite efficiently😆
Chacha jaan succeed in making Akbar drink the sherbet👏
Akbar seems to be very poised but still one part of him is restless for Heera which is also the case with Heera
Thanks for pm

I know I'm late, sorry

Dear Periamma, thanks so much for your thoughtful response

I am so glad that you flagged this for me, otherwise I would never have seen it as I never trawl thru Lashy's gargantuan threads. They intimidate me!😉

You are not alone - I lost your response as well!

This is a genuinely fresh and original concept, using only the zergul flower as a leit motif, to which you have managed to link almost every aspect of any significance in these chapters. Very clever, my dear! It was not easy, but you have managed it. But then you can manage just about anything, and it works perfectly.

Thank you - it means a lot 😳

I of course, as you might have seen from my post, abandoned the zergul flower completely, and went on a different track altogether. That is the fun about a gripping tale with complex characters, one can look at them in so many different ways!

Yes, but I think your keeper of th flame describes how I felt Akbar wanted to protect the "zergul flower"

My favourites among your Top 10 are marked in blue.

Thank you - some of my favorites too

One small caveat. Poise, formality and decorum in Akbar and Heera, do you say?

To my mind, he is anything but poised; he is barely able to maintain the facade of being so. She does manage to look poised, but inside, it is all a roiling sea of confusing feelings. Decorum, yes, but not formality, no. If he had been properly formal, he would never have asked Heera those very personal questions about her eye problem. She is scrupulously decorous and formal, but then a young lady of her birth and breeding would hardly have been anything else with a young man she has just encountered.

A very good distinction and agreed ... He is definitely not in as much control

My name is Melisa Bernards. I saw that my poem Behind the Mask was in a post about this novel. I have only recently discovered the attention it had been getting. I really like how it was used. Thank you for crediting me.

Dear Melisa,
Thank you for the post and you are welcome to the India Forum. We normally make references to poems from the internet ,that are relevant to the context or sequence in the story in question and by giving due credit to the author as well. By chance, when I was searching for some poems to portray the feelings of the protagonist, I found your poem, got impressed by it and I wanted to use it in the context of the story, titled, "Hiding Behind a Stranger".

I have copied my post below for your reference. (Posted originally on p 88 of this thread)

Karkuzhali.
(Saraswathi Aunty.)

Dear Lashy,
I have reproduced two poems to depict the feelings of Heera and the consolation she gets after completing her task( From the words of Lashy).
I have not changed any words. You can edit it at your will.

Yours
Periamma.

Heera:

"Hiding the hurt, hiding the pain
Hiding the tears that fall like rain
Saying I'm fine, but I'm anything but
This ache in my soul rips at my gut
My skin is on fire I burn from within
The calm on my face is an ongoing sin.

The world must stay out, I've built up a wall
My fragile lie will collapse ,should it ever fall
Loneliness consumes me, it eats away the years
Until my life is swallowed by unending fears
Waiting for someone to see I wear a mask
And care enough to remove it,is that too much to ask?"
( a poem by Melisa Bernards)

What a lovely surprise to have the poetess visit us here, today
It was a beautiful poem, Melisa.
Saraswathi aunty (Karukuzhali) who quoted the poem, is a wonderful poetess herself. Sometimes, she refers to poems from the internet and picks out the best ones as and when she finds one relevant to the story/character/scenario.
Thank you so much for dropping in. 😊
