I think they are taking the Beauty and the Beast route.
Beauty was the daughter of a merchant. When the merchant was to leave for a business trip, Beauty asks him to get her a scarlet rose as gift on his return. Merchant finds that rose in Beast's garden, he gets the rose and is treated well, but the Beast extracts a promise that one of his daughters must come to the castle and live with him or he will destroy him. Upon learning this, Beauty owns up responsibility and goes to the Beast's castle willingly. Beast is kind to her, he secretly provides her with everything she needs and more, but never reveals it to her. He talks to her over the dinner every night and asks her to marry him, only to be refused by her. Beauty dreams of a handsome prince every night. She doesn't realize that the prince of her dreams is the Beast. Beast was actually the Prince, who was cursed by a good fairy for being mean to her. (Another version is that an evil witch cast a spell on him when he refused her.) The curse will be broken only if someone loves him in spite of his ugliness. After a few months, Beauty visits her family and doesn't return by the time she promised to the Beast, as she was held back by her family longer. She dreams that the Beast is dying, so she runs back to him and hugs the dying Beast with tears flowing down her cheeks. Beast becomes the Prince of her dreams as soon as her tears touch him. The Beauty marries the Prince and they live happily ever after.

That's the most compact version of the original story ever! Now replace the Beast with Shaurya and the Beauty with Mahek. The good fairies who cursed him are Karuna and Mahek. The evil witches who cast a spell on him are Svetlana and Shruti. The ugliness could be the past connection with Mahek's parents' accident. May be Shaurya was somehow involved in it. The weird expressions started only after he opened the pandora's box, that has Mahek's childhood memories. Before this incident his thoughts were clear to us. After this, I think he was in two minds, about whether to go through with the marriage or not. He was feeling guilty for not revealing the ugly past to her before marriage. The red cloth that he was holding in his hand that day, when he kissed Mahek after the cocktail party, it's like blood on his hands, which means he is guilty of something. He wanted to marry Mahek without revealing his past, but when he saw her walking down the aisle, he couldn't go through with it. Because whenever she comes to know of that past, he is afraid that she will hate him. He is scared of rejection, so he escaped from the situation to shield his heart or what is left of it, and made up this stupid story. He might also be trying to convince himself that he is a Beast indeed like everyone thinks. He has gone crazy.
Now you must be wondering about my mental health after this post. You might even think that I am bipolar, for ranting like hell one day and going gaga the next. But there is my theory for all of you to poke holes in.😃
P.S. If they show Mahek being abused by Shaurya or a forced marriage, I will hate them again. For now I decided to love them a little, hoping that KK and MS will return in this track somewhere.😳
P.P.S. Can we have some nice conversations also between these two (both Shaurya-Mahek and KK-MS), instead of just stupid eyelocks and trip-fall-catch scenes.😊 I don't mind physical romance, but aren't words more romantic?😳
