The Omkara Singh Oberoi everyone fell for, one who does not believe in perfect love and perfect marriage, who has seen enough of the pretentious relationship around him, the one who understands that love should be a matter of hearts yet refuses to believe that anything like true love would exist.
"Pyaar mere liye Khuda hai, jo hota sabke dil mei par milta sirf kisi kisi ko"
But we were pleasantly surprised when we were given this man. One who so ardently believes in the purest form of love so much that he considers it God himself. Omkara, the idealist. The one who is blind to the realities of the world, who sees the world in black and white. The one who has complete belief in love and refutes his brother's argument that love is just another deal.
"Ishq sirf ek sauda hai, jiss mei dil dekar dard sehna padta hai."
Now we have this man, who has lost all his faith in love, much like the one from the initial promos. One who is so much hurt in love that he now believes love is a deal indeed. But not a deal in the way his brother used to perceive it, not a deal for money but a deal where you sell your heart and buy pain in return. Omkara has turned a bitter man, a cynic, one who still believes in love but also has come to terms with its darker side. So his story will be his journey back to being the man he once was through the path of love.
So rejoice Omkara fans, Om may not have turned Shivaay Singh Oberoi, at least not yet lol. He has simply turned colder because he was already cold in most parts. Omkara has always been a hypocrite, even when he speaks of giving second chances like when he talked of Roop to Shivaay and Dadi, he has always been judgmental and prejudiced like the time when Tej and Shakthi were arrested under false charges. He was colder than Shivaay there, believing the charges to be true and not giving his father even a benefit of doubt. Omkara is cold. Cold to ideas and people he is prejudiced against. And this streak just grew more pronounced and I bet all my money that it is going to be because of Tej. I do not want to see Omkara turning into the Male Chauvinistic Pig that Shivaay is (Sorry fans, but the guy is clearly one. Even the actor admits) and I do not see a possibility too, especially when Omkara being a different character is the reason that he is popular and cold doesn't necessarily mean MCP. But the producer seems to be so much into disgusting MCP men too (Honestly how can someone...aah forget it). So Omkarians if you are watching the new show, hold on to your hearts.
Having said that, Omkara being cold is the only part I liked about the promo of DBO. I have resigned to the fact that this bhagodi dulhan in all possibility will be another blabber mouth girl made of sugar, spice and everything nice who will sprout mindless comedy which can only bring so much as a grimace to your face. Yo CVs! You are always welcome to prove me wrong lol. But I guess it will always be brotherhood over romance for me. Oh boys! You guys will never let me ship any one of you with your better halves like I ship you with each other. And finally Obbros fans, we totally need a break from this show and its spin off. It's not exactly what we thought it would be, IB is a love story and the spin off is IB reloaded, so forget about the brothers and a break would do us a lot of good.
PS- I see an uproar for IB- 3 in the near future and I can totally sympathize with it. But be careful what you wish for my friends.
PPS- IMPORTANT NOTE - Never watch a Gul Khan show with multiple leads and brotherhood again if you are not a fan of love stories with angry young men and bubbly heroines. Believe me you don't need another heart break.
