My parents used to watch these pageants when I was small, they say girls were prettier back then, and we used to watch entire show.. it was kind of a big deal back then, wasn't it? now not so much, sirf headlines.

I follow pageants from time to time, so I would say it's not that girls were prettier back then, but they had more personality. Nowadays, a lot of them seem frivolous and don't have the kind of panache that Sush, Lara, PC, Aish etc had.

More than looks, pageants are about the package. There needs to be some 'dum' in their personality.

The girls who won before really stood out. Srinidhi Shetty won Miss Supranational and Rohit Khandelwal won Mister World recently. MU and MW are harder to crack because of the competition and also because other countries send their best to these pageants.

Pageants are a big deal in Philippines, Indonesia and Latin American countries.

Congrats to Sush. Miss her on screen.

Lara and Sushmita are probably the best winners from India.
