Even BOI posted about the first day in North America. Strange.
Dangal Fifth Saturday - XXX Fails In America
Sunday 22 January 2017 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network

XXX - The Return Of Xander Cage has fared poorly in India despite its first full day in India being the fifth best ever and now the film has also not performed in North America. The opening was a bit of a disaster with it only collecting $7.15m on its first day compared to the $17.31 million of the original XXX film released in 2002. The second installment of XXX which released in 2005 can't really be compared as it did not feature Vin Diesel and managed a $4.18m opening which is actually not bad compared to the present installment. The performance of the film in India is poor but comparatively the 33-35 crore nett that it will do in India looks a better performance than its likely to put up in its domestic market of North America.

America - Disaster
India - Flop (better than disaster)

So I think Deepika deserves credit not blame.
However, it was such a poor decision by Deepika to do a Bgrade HW franchise with a Bgrade hero. That too at the peak of her career. Hop she now goes back to India and pick some good movies like Piku and BM

In second is Paramount's release of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, which brought in an estimated $20 million from 3,651 theaters. The film also brought in an estimated $50.5 million internationally this weekend, finishing #1 in 32 of the 53 markets it opened in for an estimated $70.5 million worldwide debut. Of that international opening, $7.3 million came from India (including previews) followed by Russia ($5.5m), France ($3.1m), Germany ($2.8m), Mexico ($2.8m), Australia ($2.3m), Brazil ($2.2m) and the UAE ($1.9m). The film still has 21 international markets in which it will open including South Korea on February 9, China on Feb 10 and Japan on Feb 24.

Carrying a budget of $85 million, the third film in the xXx franchise received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences, of which 53% were male vs. 47% female and 62% were over the age of 25.
