Chapter 37 - The Day After
Meher woke up to a pounding headache and new surroundings. Well, not completely new. She was in the guest room at Sam's house rather than her room in the Rampal mansion, she knew that much. But what was she doing here? She wondered. She and Sam had gone out with Ashlesha and Veera. But why had she spent the night here?
"Hey, you're up," Sam smiled as she walked into the room carrying a tray. She placed it on the bedside table then walked over to the windows to pull back the curtains. "It's such a beautiful day outside."
Meher immediately shielded her eyes from the bright morning light suddenly streaming into her room.
Sam walked back to her bed and sat down next to her. "How are you feeling now?" she asked.
"Not so good," Meher mumbled. She rubbed her fingers along her forehead. "My head hurts."
"Here, have this." Sam handed her 2 tablets and a glass of water. "That should help with the headache."
"Thanks," Meher sighed gratefully.
After she was done taking the medicine, Sam placed the tray in front of Meher. "And now...freshly brewed coffee...good and strong, and a plate of eggs and toast."
"Ugh," said Meher, as she pushed the plate away. The smell made her stomach turn.
Sam pushed the plate right back at her. "Eat. You need the caffeine in the coffee, and the protein in the eggs will help with your hangover."
"Hangover?" Meher said in surprise. Is that what this sickening feeling was? "Why would I have a hangover?"
"Because you got super drunk last night," said Sam.
Meher's mouth fell open. "Drunk? How? I...I don't remember anything."
"I don't know," said Sam. "I don't know if someone spiked your drink or the bartender made a mistake and gave you an alcoholic beverage instead of a non-alcoholic one. Veera and I went to use the restroom and when we returned you were a completely different person."
"Oh no!" Meher said worriedly. "I...I didn't do anything foolish did I?"
"Not unless you count sitting in some guy's lap, dancing barefoot on the bar, or ordering free drinks for every single creature there last night," smiled Sam.
"I did that?" Meher winced. Her memory of the night before was just a dense cloud of fog.
"Three times," nodded Sam.
"Three times?!" exclaimed Meher. "I can't believe it. The last thing I remember is that we were waiting for Ashlesha..."
"Uff! Don't even get me started on her!" cried Sam. "That snooty little witch ditched us in the club and went off to party with some other friends of hers. I don't know what we would have done if Preet hadn't shown up."
"Preet?" said Meher. She held her head with her hands as she began to recall clouded bits and pieces from the night before.
"Veera had the good sense to call Preet," explained Sam. "He came right over. The poor guy paid for everything and brought us home safely."
Meher gasped. "What he must think of me?"
"He was there to help not judge you Meher," sighed Sam. "He took care of you because he loves you. You pulled his hair..."
"I what?!" said Meher.
"...and threw up on his shoes, and he didn't even say a word. When we brought you home, you were throwing up again. He held you tight, cleaned you up, and rocked you to sleep." Sam walked over to the window and peered outside. "He was so worried about you, that he didn't even go home last night."
Meher looked up in surprise.
"He stayed out there in his car, all night long," smiled Sam. "You're very lucky to have him in your life Meher. He's a really nice guy. Perhaps if it had been someone else...they might have been too busy cleaning up their $600 Italian leather shoes to be bothered about you."
Meher knew Sam was referring to Viren. Her fiance hadn't even bothered to return her phone call. She slowly got up out of bed, walked over to the window, and looked outside. Sure enough Preet's car was parked out front. Preet and Viren. There was no comparison. They were worlds apart. No wonder she loved Preet so much...and the fact that she loved him was the very reason she had to stay away from him.
"He's been there all night just for you," Sam reminded her, as if reading her mind. "He really loves you Meher. If only you'd stop pushing him away." There was a brief silence then Sam spoke up again. "Speaking of love...are you sure you don't remember anything from last night? Anything you may have said...specifically to Preet."
"No, why?" Meher gave her friend a bewildered look. "Wha...what did I say?" It suddenly dawned on her what Sam was referring to. Oh my God! She quickly turned away so Sam wouldn't see look of realization on her face. Did I tell Preet that I love him? Stupid! Stupid! Stupid Meher!
"Well, if you don't remember, then I guess it's better not to upset you by bringing it up," sighed Sam. "Come on, let me help you freshen up."
A short while later...
Meher walked out of the bathroom, towel drying her hair. The long hot shower she had just taken had made her feel a lot better. Sam had left clean clothes out for her on the bed. As she walked towards them, she passed by the window and paused. Preet was still out there. She had to go out and talk to him, she decided. It was going to be super embarrassing to face him after last night, but she had to thank him. To let him know she was alright, and to let him know he should go home.
Moments later...
Meher stood in the back of Sam's house holding a cup in her hand. Preet had not only come to her rescue last night, he had also remained out here just in case she needed him. A cup of coffee as a show of gratitude was the least she could do. She took a deep breath, walked up to his car and peered inside. The front seat was tilted back, and the windows rolled down half way. Gently snoring, with his head slightly slumped to one side, Preet was inside sound asleep. Half-buttoned shirt, hair tousled and falling into his eyes, she smiled at just how peaceful he looked. Even heroes needed their rest, she thought. Her smile suddenly disappeared. Oh God! Had she really sat in some stranger's lap? Would Preet despise her for her behavior? A look into his eyes would tell her. What about her drunken confession? Maybe he hadn't heard her. Yeah right...that was wishful thinking on her part.
Meher cleared her throat, but Preet remained asleep. She carefully placed the cup on the roof of the car then turned her attention back to the driver's side window. She coughed out loud several times, but Preet did not wake up.
Meher thought for a moment, then opened the car door, and leaned inside. "Preet...," she said nudging him gently on the shoulder. He finally responded by moaning softly and turning his head the other way.
Meher bit her lip trying her best to resist the temptation to push the hair back from his eyes. She reached out and gently patted him on his cheek. "Preet..."
Suddenly his hand shot out pulling her towards him. He grunted as she landed right on top of him.
"Meher?" said Preet. Still groggy from sleep, his words were muffled. "Woah...am I dreaming?" He pulled her closer, and squeezed her affectionately. "You feel so real."
"That's because I am!" cried Meher.
"Aray wah!" smiled Preet. "Iss ko kehte hain...jab upar wala deta hai to chappar phad ke deta hai (Oh wow! Now this is what is known as...when God delivers, it doesn't rain, it pours)."
"Uff ho! Mazak karna bas karo aur chodo mujhe (Stop joking and let go of me)!" Meher squirmed in his arms.
"You know I hate it when you say that," sighed Preet.
"Preet please," pleaded Meher. "Koi...koi humay dekh le ga (someone may see us)."
Reluctantly he let go of her, then smiled as she scrambled to get out of the car. "Wah Preet beta...of all the girls in the world, you had to go and fall in love with the one least interested in you. Or at least she pretends to be uninterested."
"Kya (what)?" Meher frowned at him.
"Nothing," chuckled Preet. He was wide awake now and slowly got out of the car and stretched himself out. "What are you doing out here anyways? Didn't want to start your day without seeing me first, huhn?"
Meher shook her head. Her headache wasn't completely gone and she didn't want to get into an argument with Preet. She was here to thank him, not to get upset at his silly little remarks. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of baiting her. "Coffee," she said. She picked up the cup and held it before him. "I thought you might like some."
Preet nodded. He the cup from her and took a sip. "Mmm...it's real good. Thanks."
"Thanks toh mujhe bolna chahiye Preet (I should be the one saying thanks)," said Meher. She bit her lower lip nervously. "Sam told me about last night. I'm really sorry for all the trouble I caused. She told me I threw up on your shoes."
Preet smiled. "Lucky for me, they weren't...Italian leather."
Meher gave him a weak smile. She was going to hear that joke over and over again, wasn't she? "I...uh...I still don't know what happened or how things got so out of hand. But, I will be happy to pay you back for the bill. How much do I owe you?"
"Woah...woah...hold on there Meher," said Preet. "You don't have to pay me back for anything. I was just glad I could help. And I'm relieved no one was hurt."
"Yeah...me too," agreed Meher. "So...um...would you like to come in and freshen up. I'd be happy to fix you some breakfast afterwards."
"Are you sure you're up to it?" asked Preet. "I mean, you don't have to."
"I know," said Meher. "But I'd like to."
"Then I'd like that too," smiled Preet. "I'd like that a lot."
A short while later...
"Jaldi karo na (please hurry) Meher," said Preet as he took a deep breath and inhaled the delicious aroma floating in the kitchen. "The smell from your cooking is driving me nuts."
The smell from her cooking was driving Meher nuts too but not in a good way. "I'm coming, I'm coming," she said. She walked over to the table carrying a plate with a small stack of pancakes hot off the griddle and placed it before Preet. She passed him a bottle of syrup, and a bowl of fresh berries, then pulled out a chair for herself and sat quietly watching him eat his breakfast. This was so nice, she thought. To be able to sit down with Preet and just be normal. To be able to enjoy each other's company, like they used to, when he was working on the hotel in Ludhiana. Before things became so complicated. If only they could turn back time.
Preet took several bites from his breakfast then glanced up from his plate. He caught Meher staring at him and smiled. She quickly looked away as if she was searching for something on the table.
"Where's Sam?" asked Preet. "Won't she be joining us?"
"She already ate. She's...uh...on the phone with Gaurav," explained Meher. "He's out of town on business, but you probably already know that. She'll join us as soon as she's done with her call."
Preet nodded. "Aren't you going to have something?" He asked.
"Just toast and coffee, I guess," Meher clutched her cup and shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know if I could stomach more than that. She rubbed her hand over her stomach. "How long are the effects of a hangover supposed to last?"
"Can't really say," said Preet. "I've never had one. I guess it depends on how much and what you drank." He looked her over carefully. "You seem to be recovering remarkably well though. I'm sure by tomorrow you'll be perfectly fine."
Meher gave him a weak smile and nodded.
Preet put his fork down and gently placed his hand on Meher's arm. "Meher, I'm glad we have a chance to be alone like this," he said. "I wanted to talk to you. Do you remember what you said to me last night?"
Uh-o, Meher braced herself. Here it comes. She focused on her cup to avoid making eye contact with him, then looked up at him blankly. "Last night? No...I'm afraid I don't remember anything," she lied.
Preet sighed in disappoint at her complete and utter lack of memory. Was she lying? he wondered as he searched her eyes for clues.
"It's funny you brought that up though," remarked Meher, as she quickly averted her gaze again. "Sam was asking me the same thing earlier this morning...and I gave her the same answer. Why? What did I say? Something foolish, I'm sure. I apologize if I..."
"You told me you loved me," Preet interrupted her.
"What?!" Meher immediately rose from the table. She knew it was true, but wasn't about to admit it. "You're making that up."
"I'm not, Dharti Ma ki Kasam," said Preet.
"Then you...you must have been mistaken," stammered Meher.
"It was no mistake Meher," insisted Preet. "I heard you say it and so did Sam." He got up and took her hands in his. "You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words from your lips."
"I can't believe this," cried Meher, as she quickly turned her back to him. "I can't believe you would start up your nonsense again. What is this another ploy to convince me to marry you? I never should have asked you in."
"I don't understand why you're getting all upset," frowned Preet. "You were fine just 2 minutes ago. We were sitting here peacefully enjoying each other's company...just like old times."
"Things can't be like old times again Preet," said Meher.
"Why not?" he asked.
"Because circumstances have changed drastically," Meher pointed out. "Your family needs you and we're both engaged...to other people."
"...that neither you or I love," added Preet.
"What makes you say that?" asked Meher. "I...I can see myself spending the rest of my life with...Viren."
"That's not love Meher, that's a compromise," Preet corrected her. "Love isn't about finding a person you can live with, its about finding that one person you can't live without. Meher please..." He took hold of her arm and turned her around to face him. His fingers meshed with her's pulling her close. "I love you...and last night you told me how you felt too."
"I'm sorry to disappoint you Preet," Meher said firmly, as she took a step away from him. "You see, even if I said something like that, it doesn't count. I...I wasn't in my senses. I was drunk, remember?"
There was a look of hurt on Preet's face. "Meher, I..." He never got a chance to finish his sentence, because Sam walked through the door.
"Hey guys, look who the cat dragged in," sighed Sam.
"Ha Ha...very funny Sam," Ashelsha rolled her eyes as she followed her into the kitchen. She turned to Meher and smiled. "Hey hey! I told you I'd pick you up in the morning and here I am. And look who I brought with me. Tan Ta Da!" She motioned towards the door and Viren walked in.
"Hi Meher," smiled Viren. "Ash told me you were sick, so I came right over."
Preet looked away as he gave her a hug.
"Funny I didn't really picture you as a drinking woman," remarked Viren.
"I'm not," frowned Meher. "It was a mistake."
"Of course it was," chuckled Viren. He glanced up at Preet and gave him a questioning look. "What are you doing here?"
"Preet brought the girls home last night," said Ashlesha.
"Did he now?" frowned Viren.
"Well yeah...his sister was with them," Ashlesha pointed out.
"So why is he back here this morning?" asked Viren.
"Yeah...why are you here this morning Preet?" asked Ashlesha.
"Woh...he...he came by...," Meher was searching for the right words, when Ashelsha suddenly snapped her fingers and a broke out into a smile.
"Let me guess," she said. "I told you I'd be here in the morning so you came to see me."
"Right," nodded Meher.
"Wrong," said Preet. Meher frowned at him, but he ignored her. "I was concerned about Meher and wanted to make sure she was alright."
"By having her make you breakfast?" asked Viren. "Well, thanks for being concerned about my fiance, but I'm here now."
"And where were you last night when she needed you?" demanded Preet.
"Some of us need to work for a living," Viren snapped back. "Besides, how was I supposed to know she'd do something stupid like getting drunk. I've never seen her drink anything harder than a Coke before."
"She didn't do it on purpose!" cried Preet.
"Will you 2 please stop!" sighed Meher. She held her head in her hand. Her headache was returning. "Preet...I really appreciate everything you did for us last night, but I'm fine now...really. Perhaps you should go home now."
"Are you sure?" asked Preet.
"I think that's what she said," said Viren.
"I didn't ask you, did I?" said Preet.
"Yes, I'm sure," Meher spoke up quickly.
Preet glanced between her and Viren, then quietly headed out the door.
"Preet...," Meher called out. "Thanks again...for everything."
Preet nodded and gave her a soft smile, then left.
"What did you mean by everything?" Viren asked with a raised brow. "And why is it that whenever I come to see you, he's always already there?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," sighed Meher. "He's a concerned friend."
"Is that all?" asked Viren.
"What is that supposed to mean? And where were you?" Meher tried to change the topic. "I've been calling you so many times every single day. Why didn't you return my calls?"
"Because I never got them. I spilled coffee on my phone and it died out on me," explained Viren. "I've been working back to back shifts, so I still haven't got a chance to get a new one."
"Oh," Meher sighed in relief. "I thought..."
"That I was upset about you what happened at the farm?" asked Viren. "I have to admit...I was...but Ashlesha made me see things differently."
"You're welcome," Ashlesha winked at Meher.
"I still don't like the fact that Preet was here though," frowned Viren. "I mean..."
"Oh God Viren!" cried Ashlesha. "Do we really have to go over this again? Preet and Meher are friends. And friends help each other out in times of need. What do you want to insinuate here? That Meher has a questionable character? That something is going on between them because he gave Meher a ride home in his car...along with 2 other girls...including his own sister? Or because he stopped by to see how she was doing this morning and as a courtesy she offered him breakfast?"
"No, I didn't mean...," tried Viren.
"You know she didn't even call him for help...his sister Veera did," exclaimed Ashlesha. "If Meher was a guy you'd never think twice about it, but because she's a girl, it's suddenly wrong for her to be friends with Preet. He's my fiance, and I don't doubt him in the least. And I know Meher all too well. She's incapable of doing anything wrong!"
Meher looked at Ashlesha. Although she appreciated her coming to her defense, she was laying it on a little too thick.
"Really Viren!" continued Ashelsha. "I thought you being educated and all...your thinking would be a little above average. You know beyond the stereotypical double standards, but I guess I was wrong. Wait until mother hears about this. I doubt if she'll take kindly to you thinking so less of Meher. Perhaps you don't deserve everything she's done for you after all."
"Heh-heh...not at all Ashlesha," said Viren. "You've got me all wrong. I have no problem with Meher being friends with anyone whatsoever. The fact that everyone is safe and sound is all that matters. I just wish my phone hadn't broken down. I would have liked to be there for Meher."
"Hmm...that's better," said Ashlesah. "Hey Meher, how about whipping up a batch of pancakes for the rest of us? I'm starving."
A short while later...
Preet walked into the Juneja Mansion. He had just reached the stairs leading to the upper level of the house when Veera spotted him.
"Bhaiya, thank God you're home, I've been so worried," said Veera. "How's Meher? When I spoke to Sam last night she said Meher was throwing up quite a bit."
"She's fine," said Preet. "She still has a bit of a headache and a queasy stomach, but other than that...she's doing quite well. Listen...I'm going to go up and take a shower and change. Be it a little late...but I still have to go into the office. If anyone asks..."
"Preet, thank God you're home," cried Heer, as she and Kulraj. "You didn't come home last night with Veera. I was so worried."
"Bauji knows," Kulraj warned him. "When you didn't show up for breakfast, he had a servant check your room, and your bed had clearly not been slept in. He's not too happy?"
"He's never happy with me," sighed Preet.
"So...where were you bro?" asked Kulraj.
"Hmph! I know exactly where he was!" cried Lalit.
Preet rolled his eyes as he saw his father and Maya Bhabi approach the group.
"He was out partying all night with those jokers he refers to as friends," Lalit said accusingly. "I have a glass of wine and he looks down his nose at me and nawab saab khud apne doston ke saat club main ghul chadiayan udah rahe thay (the young prince here was enjoying happy hour with his friends).
"The credit card company called this morning to verify a charge on his card," explained Maya. She held out a piece of paper with a large number written on it for Heer and Kulraj to see. "Just look at the amount of his bill! Everyone is working their behind off in this house to save the company and he decides to pour our hard-earned money down the drain as if it was water."
"Maya please," said Heer. "Stop adding fuel to the fire."
"Fuel to the fire? Ha! You call speaking the truth adding fuel to the fire," scoffed Maya. "Someone has to rein him in after you've spoiled him beyond repair."
"What were you doing Preet?" demanded Lalit. "Drinking? No...you're too good for that. Then what kept you out all night? Girls?"
Preet glared angrily at his father.
"He got engaged...joined the office...and I began to think that this laad saab (spoiled brat) is finally growing up...but no!" Lalit exclaimed. "It was wishful thinking on my part! He's the same as he always was...useless!"
"But Bauji...Preet bhaiya...," Veera was about to say more, but Preet put a hand on her arm and stopped her.
"No need to come to his defense Veera," Lalit shook his head. He looked sternly at Heer and Kulraj. Heer especially looked like she was about to speak up. "In fact, I'll not hear anything from anyone! Especially you Heer. Maya is right. You've all spoiled him. What if the Rampals find out? Has he even once stopped to think of the consequences of his actions? Listen here young man..." He waved a finger accusingly at his son. "As long as you live under my roof, I will not condone such flagrant behavior!"
Preet stared at the ground gritting his teeth.
"And I suppose you think you can head upstairs and go straight to bed," added Lalit. "Wrong! I'm leaving for the office in 15 minutes. I expect you to meet me back down here changed and ready to go by then."
Lalit looked around. Everyone had grown quiet. "Well come on...I'm sure you all have things to do, so get to them!" he ordered.
Kulraj and Heer slowly headed towards the kitchen.
Preet headed up the stairs. Veera ran after him.
"Preet Bhaiya...wait," she called out. "Bhaiya...I'm sorry. Bauji ne aap ko itna kuch suna diya (Bauji said so many bitter things to you)...aur aap ne agay se kuch bhi nahin kaha (and you didn't say a word in your defense). It's all my fault. I never should have agreed to go anywhere with Ash. I'll go and tell Bauji the truth right now."
"No Veera, it's okay," Preet said quietly.
"But Bhaiya...," protested Veera.
Preet patted his sister's cheek. "Bauji already has a long list of reasons why he hates me," he sighed. "Adding one more to them won't make a difference. Now if you'll excuse me, I have only 12 minutes left to get ready."
Meanwhile...
Ashlesha strolled into the Rampal Mansion, followed closely behind by Meher.
"Uff...I'm so tired," Ashlesha yawned. "I'm going to have a nice, long, hot bath and then go straight to bed."
"Just a minute young lady!" said Daljeet as she met the girls in the foyer. "You didn't come home last night! Do you have any idea how worried I was?! Thank God your father doesn't know! Where were you?!"
"I was out with Meher, Veera and Sam," replied Ashlesha. "You yourself gave us permission to go, remember? Really mom...you're beginning to forget things."
"Shut up Ash!" cried Daljeet. "I gave you permission to go out for dinner, not stay out the entire night! You do realize that you're engaged to Preet now. What would the Junejas think if they found out?!"
"Mom...take a chill pill," chuckled Ashlesha. "I told you I was with the girls the whole time."
Meher looked at Ashlesha in surprise. She was lying to her mother!
"We had dinner at the restaurant, and then we thought about going dancing, so I had the driver take us to a club," said Ashlesha. "The line was too long, and I also remembered how you don't approve of me going there in the first place, so we decided to leave. Veera went home early, because of her wedding preparations. Sam's parents were out of town, so she invited Meher and me back to her place. We snacked, painted each other's nails, and got so absorbed in girl talk that we completely lost track of time."
"Is that so Meher?" asked Daljeet. "Did you spend the night at Sam's place?"
Meher nodded. She had certainly spent the night at Sam's place, but why had Ashlesha lied about doing the same?
"Well, why the hell didn't you call me?!" demanded Daljeet. "Nor did you bother to take any of my calls!"
"Woh...actually mom...it's Meher's fault," said Ashlesha.
"What?!" said Meher.
Ashlesha put a comforting arm around Meher's shoulders. "She got sick. I think something she ate or drank didn't agree with her. The poor girl spent the entire night throwing up. Sam and I were so tired by the time we got her cleaned up and in bed that we found the nearest bed and fell into it like a log. I guess I must have left my phone downstairs or something. I didn't see your missed calls until this morning."
Daljeet looked at her daughter with narrowing eyes, as if she was trying to determine if she was speaking the truth or not.
"Just look at Meher's face mom," said Ashlesha. "Doesn't she look unwell?"
"Hmm, she does look a little pale," said Daljeet.
"And if you're worried about what the Junejas will think," continued Ashlesha. "You'll be happy to know that Preet and Viren joined us for breakfast this morning."
"They did?" said Daljeet.
"Yes," smiled Ashlesha. "You see Sam was talking on the phone to her fiance Gaurav, and told him that we spent the night at her place. Gaurav is Preet's best friend so of course he told him. And then...well you know how boys are...they found out we were alone and showed up at our door. But don't you worry...we had breakfast with them...that's all. In fact, Meher made us all pancakes, didn't you Meher?"
"Yes," Meher said quietly. She was still trying to comprehend the clever lie Ashlesha had woven.
"So mom...if you're done questioning us...I'd like to go to my room," said Ashlesha. "Meher showered at Sam's place, but she didn't have all the bath oils and soaps I use. And the bed there was nothing compared to the one in my room. So...while I did sleep there...I didn't get any rest."
"Fine," frowned Daljeet. "But next time...call me!"
"Yes mom," sighed Ashelsha.
Daljeet walked out of the house shaking her head, and Ashlesha headed upstairs. Meher caught up to her just as she reached the hall at the top of the stairs.
"Ashlesha wait," said Meher. "Why did you lie to your mother just now?"
"What are you talking about?" said Ashlesha.
"We both know you didn't spend the night at Sam's place," said Meher. "So where were you?"
"What difference does it make to you?" asked Ashlesha.
"It makes a difference Ashlesha. It makes a huge difference," said Meher. "Your mom is right. You're engaged to be married. You can't be disappearing off to who knows where. If you don't care about what Mrs. Rampal or the Junejas would think then what about me?"
"What about you?" asked Ashlesha.
"You had no right to put me at the center of all your lies," complained Meher. "If something goes wrong..."
"Nothing will go wrong," Ashlesha rolled her eyes.
"Oh really," said Meher. "All your mom has to do is ask the driver and she'll find out you were lying."
"He won't tell her anything," said Ashlesha. "I paid him enough not to."
"Paid him? But why?" asked Meher. "Where were you?"
"That's none of your business," said Ashlesha.
"Fine! Have it your way. But if your mom asks me again...I...I won't hesitate to tell her the truth," said Meher.
"Like hell you will," cried Ashelsha. "Now you listen here Meher Maan...where I go and what I do is none of your business! You should thank me for not telling mom that you got drunk last night. Or wait...maybe I should rewind further than that and tell her that you kissed Preet at the dinner party the other night. Preet. My fiance Preet! She'll love that! So will your parents! And Viren's parents! You ungrateful little wretch! If it wasn't for me, Viren wouldn't have been so forgiving of the incident as he was this morning! I brought him over because I knew how worried you were. I was acting like a friend. But instead of thanking me...you're actually threatening to tattle-tale on me. Go ahead Meher. I dare you! I'll find one way or the other to get out of trouble...but will you?"
Ashlesha turned on her heels and left Meher standing in the hall to ponder on her words.

Fatimaaa! Nicey update love. I loved the morning scenes with Meet. But then again Viren and Ash uff. Ash is totally upto something. So curious to know that. I loved the little sibling scene of Veera and Preet. Such cute bonding na? Oh I hate Maya just like I hate Ash and Viren in this story :S
