In anticipation of today -
He tripped
He turned
His eyes wept
His Heart Burned .
He looked at the pile of wrapped up lies
He searched the truth in their lying eyes
His love, now smoke and ash
His dreams, shatter and crash.
He crumbled like a house of sand
He held his grief with a trembling hand
His eyes splintered with heavy tears
Voices echoed, pulled at his ears.
His eyes, they splintered with heavy tears
Like a broken mirror, reflecting glorious years.
Voices, they echoed in his ears
as the violent wind proclaimed his fears.
His love, now smoke and soot-
dying embers beneath his foot
His dreams, they shatter and crash
like a glass ceiling, broken in a flash.
His eyes wept
silently, his rage crept
His heart burned
His life, upturned.
Silently, he came undone
Slowly, he broke into a run
Whispers of undying love
came from a mourning dove.
Night walked in, wearing black
filling darkness into every crack
He stood alone in an empty space
confused and in a daze.
Whispers of undying love
wafted in from up above
He heard the silent cries of a gentle dove,
perched near a tall alcove.
Slowly, he broke into a run
to find the early morning sun
He followed the dove into the maze
in search of a peaceful place.
From the deep crevices of his heart
emerged a love that never did depart,
As dawn broke the nighttime sky
he awoke to a soulful cry
The dove, a symbol his love
Smiled at him from up above.
