IKRS ~ Wesnesday 12th August 2015 My quality of life

Stark reality , financial backing and patronage needed to run refuge shelters for the vulnerable, in this case the Ashram.. news travels fast and along the way facts can be twisted to create ructions amongst people put together. We find out about senior Tirpathi's money making skills! cashing in upon people's weaknesses , failures by the skill of astronomy and numerology! As long as people believe ill omens cause their misfortunes to happen! his trade will never go out of business! no one questions his reasons for their low turns in life. Comfortably and with much respectability he plunders people in the name of charity and donation, he does so with great panache. His hypocrisy surfaces when he shy's from touching money .. completes his "business" deals with the jargon of connived assurance..

Now the high light of the episode for me is the play on the word colour..

Dhani's spectacle of red drenched sari earns her lewd remarks not only from the public.. but from the widows of the ashram as well! courtesy of the rakshas, she is humiliated before her mother before all present at the shelter home. all because of color! Her mother loses her rag , turns violent to bring out the gravity of the issue! All because of a color! Her mother cleanses Dhani's washes off the impurities of color! She is told a widow seen in any other bar.. white colour is a sinful act! Emphasis is placed on the plight of the quality of life widows undergo. They have to been seen as austere and lead ascetic lives! and display control and discipline.. be seen in mourning forever.. dressed in white. here the color white is not seen as pristine and pure but more on the lines of living a life of penance, for some past sin that has heaped the curse of widowhood on her!

More play on the word colour, when discussion is held upon whether the colour has come off Dhani's white stained sari.. well obviously not! helplessly she confesses she tried but it hasn't resumed to it's previous white state.. this heralds more reprimand from her mother. Good play on the word white .. once mixed with other colours it's tainted, blemished and loses it pristine brilliance.. some colors are permanent and discolour and steal the true neutral white color! her mother warns her if Dhani continues to open her mouth and confronts people soon .. the white colour of her sari will taint and blemish her virtue too!

Dhani is brave enough to fight her case eventually yes! it's conformity pitched against injustice.. shows she has the resilience to fight the battle between virtue and vice!

In the episode, loss of appetite due to grievance within the heart.. and takes the form of rejecting food.. In the case of Dhani and Dulari its fall out over the rules and regulates stipulated for widows. For Viplav it's being shown that every human being , strong or weak commands respect and should be granted dignity.

The chain reaction of hunger strike... was it a call for strike or show of support from the manager of the hostel for Dhani and Dulari?

In Dhani we see that some times.. one's ideals have to been flexed for the greater good of loved ones! She attempts to make allowances. confessions... A daughters busted forehead makes Dulari break the hunger fast! and the widows cling and celebrate support for each other! Dhani's character pans out.

girlie talk or sending feelers to ascertain Dhani's sentiments towards the obnoxious rich rogue??? More girl talk about dreams and vicarious pleasures.. only meant for females who are not widows.. indicates how widows, especially young widows have to renounce life and all pleasures and indulgences! mind you Dhani clarifies that demon is not the man of her dreams.. is this then a denial? Is she smart enough to play it safe? she certainly doesn't want her mother to repeat her violent outburst against her..

Viplav's scene in his room where he vents off.. in my mind was comparable with Dutta Bhau's scene of throwing knives at the dart board.. in which DB's reaction was cold blooded. Where as I think.. Viplav shows signs of some fear of the gods! He possibly behaved against set religious norms. .put in place for categories of people??

Also a word about his friends or close companions Viplav's are classic users, they stir , instigate him, but above all are sycophants who enjoy life at his expense! They also have his mother's support too! Dhani's.. one of them spins a story against Dhani.

Final scene ,drunk on the shores of the holy river.. Viplav's camaraderie .. celebration or testing the limits of order?? thus ends his birthday. New day begins for him in the precincts of holy ground! where he recovers from "spiritual over indulgence! "picturesque morn's picturesque view"! the image of Dhani on the banks of the mother Ganges! .. once again arouses the hunter in him.. seems her white apparel is like red colour to a bull! cosmic activity Shiva's damaru sounds! perched on Shiv ji's trident! Symbolic of the truth that positivity and negativity .. reside side by side in the universe! and what happens happens.. thus the, sacrilegious scene of the kalish of holy water substituted by unholy liquid. For Viplav it's some sickly revenge against the lowly , widow who dared to say no to him.. but for the gods it's teaching Viplav a lesson...will he mend his ways??? I don't despair yet.. precap... Grow up!!! it's not funny! ... Hamlet53 12. 8 .15

This is one of two scenes that stood out to me the most in this episode. The mother-daughter bond unlike any other. The unity in the ashram as they all felt each other's plight and sorrow. Dhani was right in saying that the love that prevailed in the ashram couldn't be found anywhere else in the world. Rajlaxmi was a horrible friend in the beginning! 😔 I'm glad she mended her ways further into the story.

The lion that seeks his prey and awaits his moment to hunt as per his desire. All because she refused him! šŸ˜† His attraction to her couldn't be more obvious in this scene. The naughty brat is mesmerized by the darling in white. šŸ˜‰ Could his mischief be seen as motive to make her his in the future? There's a very obvious connection between these two. Thank you for the post yet again, Zajie! šŸ¤— Hammie, I don't have enough words to praise your analysis. Superb as always! ā¤ļø

I agree with you Dazz. this is one of the most beautiful scenes in this episode. Love women in the Ashram is so tangible. Danh has shown that is related to her mother and other women. Viplav in the room when you sit down and think it's so striking scenes. I think he's been here, and sad and angry about Danh. When he woke up tomorrow and when he saw Danh, he was again mischievous. I did not like his way to avenge a girl who was just scared.

Wow...the ghat scenes are so picturesque , with Viplav looking at Dhani as his prey...
I can't take my eyes off...šŸ˜›
Hammie has phrased it so beautifully.
I also loved the decor of Viplav's room...Simple & says Viplav all over ...some of his pics.
