She doesn't need to fake her accent, Salma Hayek never neither did many others

Belittling our own mother tongue.. putting English on a pedastal and looking down upon people who either can't speak or speak English in their mother tongue's accent. Celebrating a normal thing like retaining an Indian accent as if it's an 8th wonder of the world...to name a few. I see all these things as colonial hangover.

It depends on the role.

Her role in Triple X didn't have to have be from a specific country like USA or the UK, so it was good that she talked with her real accent. I think in an interview she said, that she talked with the director and both decided that she could go with her real accent.
I think as it was her first role she wanted to keep it real. In my opinion it was great that she talked in her original accent, because there is nothing to be ashamed of.

But someday there will be a role, where she plays someone who was born in the USA or UK and than a specific accent is needed.
But we will have to wait and see what will happen in her future.

DP's accent is very thick and it doesn't sound very pleasing. I am not belittling her...there are many people who have desi accents but they do not sound as bad as she does. It's just an opinion of mine just like how I find Shreya G's voice too screechy! As a matter of fact I liked Raj's accent in TBBT.

I think it depends... I find some BW actors accent so terrible I wish they would give IVs in Hindi

Deepika has thick accent but still I find it's not as bad as many in BW...
She is from southoern India and I think people from other parts of India may not like her accent nd find it unpleasant

Some here mentioned Salman Hayek' accent... She has a cute accent, that cuteness is missing in Deepika's accent..

Besides I think if Salma Hayek had American accent she could've reached greater heights, I always thought she deserved a better career
