What is Nach Baliye, the new show you are working on, all about. Can you throw some light on it?
I call Nach Baliye the Sholay of the small screen. It is a dance competition between 10 "real-life" celebrity couples on Indian television. The show promises a whole lot of dancing, great music, loads of drama, a little bit of romance and real action. I am sure it will provide maximum entertainment for the viewers at our cost.

Of late we have a deluge of reality television shows providing a platform to the new talents. How is Nach Baliye different?
The USP of Nach Baliye is that it's not just a dance competition, there's oodles of love, tears and sweat involved in it. The factor that runs common for all of us is that none of us are trained dancers. For instance, my wife Mansi Joshi has two left feet while I am quite passionate about dancing. So you can understand the precarious situation. Besides, the viewers will get a sneak peak into our lives and also catch a glimpse of our family and friends. So, enjoy all the pyaar and taqraar on this show.

You are the talk of the town as Karan Pratap Singh in Sarrkaar. How was it sharing screen space with brother Ronit Roy for the first time? What about the controversy of Ronit quitting the serial?
I am pleased to be a part of Sarrkaar. The serial is truly hatke from the regular fare on television and I identify with the character I am playing. Karan is brash and a go-getter. Working with Ronit surely provides a comfort zone. He plays my elder brother in the serial as well. So, inevitably real reflections spill on the reel. As far as Ronit's quitting fiasco is concerned, the media sadly blew a small issue out of proportion.

What about the comparisons with the late Sanjay Gandhi and your role in Sarrkaar?
Well, this being a political drama, drawing resemblance to the Gandhi family and that of my character having shades of the late Sanjay Gandhi, is but obvious. If the story revolved around a business family then people would have drawn parallels with the Ambanis. Personally I endorse Sanjay Gandhi's policies — one being the family planning. Don't you feel this country needs a youthful leader who dares to take challenges?

You didn't have a smooth run with Balaji Telefilms. Are there any chances of Ekta Kapoor and you joining hands in the future?
I did Kkusum, which couldn't continue for long as I needed a month's break to go to America for a shoot. And I prefer doing one serial at a time. Currently, I am occupied with Sarrkaar on Zee and then of course, I need to shake a leg for Nach Baliye.

Are you satisfied with what's happening on the Bollywood front?
Aah! can we skip this one? (laughs) Plan failed and I was just a part of Kucch Meetha Ho Jaye. Coming up next is a cameo role in the Fardeen Khan starrer Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, to be released shortly.

Are you satisfied with the way your career has shaped up?
From Swabhimaan till now, it has been quite a roller-coaster ride for me. It's a different matter that my wife Mansi didn't like my performance in it. But then, the better half is always like that. Even Jayaji is so critical of Amitabh Bachchan's works. Oh! I just realised that with Mansi, Ronit and myself featuring on the tele- skyline, we are emerging as the first family of television aka the Kapoor khandaan (laughs).

Arre I hope it is a small issue as he says and Ronit is not quitiing. He may be stuck between Ekta's popular shows and this. Why can't they tell us yes or no and end the suspense
