Dear Tani,
Sorry for the late reply...I was in a tribal area with barely rare network coverage... So you finished them at last. Must say my vacation helped to catch up. 😊 Now I'm late. STill I'm in a bus with 9 hours journey ahead.

You're a good writer too, just our genre is different. Jhooti ha? 😆 I still feel mortified while reading my first chapters! They are so immature! 😊
Hope someday they would get better! If SR forum stays open I might get chance to write my 2nd or 3rd attempts. Perhas they would get better!I already have plots but don't dare to start another project now!

I hope you'll enjoy for many more days as the story is long.

Hey girls! I'm back at last! Sorry for keep you waiting. As you know I went for a vacation, then had kind of writer's block. This chapter is not up to the mark, but it is a base for the next phase of the story. Bear my torcher ok?

CHAPTER 18

Airforce Command Hospital, Bangalore

The clock on the wall striked 9.00 a.m. Sanskar was seated in the long hallway outside the ICU, where his heart was ticking inside, threatening to stop any moment. It was a night he never wanted to go through again. Neither by experience nor through memory...

The emergency medical team was not of much help for sinking Swara, as the bullet had hit near a critical artery... The team doctor couldn't remove it on spot as it would have released the pressure from the hole it had provided on the artery, that meant more bleeding and more possibility of her rapid death...Sanskar felt his world was slipping away but decided to admit her in a modernised city hospital with better facilities. They raced against time to reach Bangalore and less than 2 hours, Swara was admitted in Air Force command Hospital after availing special permission, as the patient was civilian. In the meantime she had gone into cardiogenic shock in spite of transfusing 5 bags of blood in her body. Doctors announced she might notsurvive or slip into coma if once the shock proceeded into irreversible stage. Sanskar was enraged beyond limits! He was about to charge the young doctor who transpired the bad news but AK stopped him. How could they utter such rubbish about his love? Swara can't escape from her fake fiance cum husband ... and this time Sanskar will cage her in his heart and never let her go...

Next few hours were a test for doctors, to snatch their sorority sister from angel of death... A test for Ayaz, to support his friend to keep composed and at the same time fulfil maximum official formalities... A test for Sanskar, to realise with how much intensity he came to love her, that he was broken but at the same time prayed and demanded fervently and vowed himself to be the strongest man like Swara had wanted... For whom she had gambled everything...

Ayaz and his other colleagues watched Sanskar today in a new light. They previously watched him as Sunny who was a fun loving,charming,carefree, a bit flirtatious youth... They watched him in SSR avatar in missions who was ruthless, steely resolved, precise fighter with no strings attached... But never had they seen him as Swara's Sanskar who was passionate,emotional yet very mature... Who was Sunny and SSR combined,yet much more...

" No AK, how can I relax when she is still unconscious? Do you think even a morsel would go down my throat until I see her with my own eyes?" Sanskar protested vehemently , when AK asked him to have something and freshen up.

" But you are starving... Your clothes are covered with blood... And Major (Doctor) Sharma assured her life is out of danger. He said she would regain her senses within few hours. Why are you being so stubborn Sunny?" AK tried to coerce him, even tried to raise his voice.

" Leave him darling! Why are you pressuring him? In no way he's gonna be allowed to meet her in this.. err... unhygienic getup... Perhaps he is too tired to even change you know? Visits can wait, what's the hurry? Let him rest na!" A tall lady of around 5'8" height, burgundy hair, fair skin with olive undertone and green eyes held Ayaz's hand and signalled him with eyes.

"Oh, so that's the case?Sorry Sunny I'd been so inconsiderate. Really! Kiara understands you better than me, See she even got your sandwich packed so you don't have to move even a bit!" Ayaz supported her words.

Sanskar looked vexed, "Perhaps she does, but she should not comment about my priorities!" He got up from his seat and took the packet of clothes from AK and food from Kiara, " By the way, thanks Bhabi.. for reminding me this..." He was about to say something more but AK cut him.

"Don't worry, we'll stay here only!"

They watched Sanskar to move hurriedly. "I tell you, he would hardly take a bite or two! He looks so lost! It seems his soul is joined with hers!" Kiara exclaimed, "So that's the lucky girl to whom our Sunny finally gave his heart!"

AK held his wife in a side hug and looked at the direction of ICU door, "I'm not so sure who's luckier, Kiki. Sunny never settled for less or ordinary. This time too he set his heart for a rare gem... To be precise, a Kohinoor diamond . You know Kiki? Those diamonds are most precious which have numerous cuts on them..."

"And Swara is such a diamond, right!" She completed his words. "Oh I'm so happy for him, Azi!"

She was running through a desert. Her throat was parched as paper, when drops of tears touched her face... And next moment rainstorm flooded the desert. She was drowning in deep tumultuous water... She tried so hard to float and swim but in vain...her limbs were frozen in pain... water climbers crawled on her body and tied her up...

" Swara, hold on! Tumhara Sanskar hamesha dhaal baan ke khara rahega! Aaj bhi maut ki muh se mein tumse cheen lungi!" He freed her from the vines and pulled her out of the water...

"She's blinking Sir! I think she'd just got back consciousness. Miss Bose! Miss Bose! Can you hear me?" She could hear some unknown male voice. But where's Sanskar?

"S-San-Sanskar! Sanskar!"she was moving her head and becoming restless. Where is he?

Sanskar got up from his seat when a nurse came outside. She asked them,
"Who's Mr Sanskar here?"

"I'm Sanskar. Why? How's she? Is she alright?"He almost ran near her.

" The patient is getting restless. She's calling your name. Please go inside at on--!"Nurse
couldn't finished her sentence, before that Sanskar dashed inside.

"Swara!"Sanskar called her.

She opened her heavy eyelids with a great effort, in an ardent desire to see his face... Lights flashed her eyes, she tried to move her hands but distorted her face in pain.

Sanskar felt burdened discerning the scene before him. She looked pale, frail and warped... Always free spirited, courageous Swara Nose was bedridden, tubes and wires were attached to her petite frame,she looked so helpless. Her one shoulder was heavily wrapped in bandage where small bandages covered her neck wounds. He vowed to crush the existence of Black wolves once again.

Major Sharma now opened his mouth, "Mr Rathore, she had been restless for you since she got her senses back. I guess you're the only one she could trust after that hijack incident. I think you should stay with her only. She'll be shifted to the cabin 402 within one hour."

"Dr Sharma, you know she still has risk of further attacks. Her cabin should have maximum security. Can you assure me about that?" Sanskar uttered in a no nonsense tone.

Major Sharma was a man in his early forties . Seeing Sanskar's concern for Swara he smiled inwardly,

"Mr Rathore, this is a military hospital, you know that right? Even a fly would need special permission here for entry! Don't worry, your special friend and counterpart in mission will be perfectly safe here! Now if you excuse us... "Thinking for a while he addressed the other doctor and nurse, "Captain Agarwal , please inform Mr Khalid about her conditions and medicines to buy. And Sister Shikha, do the necessary for her cabin transfer. Mr Rathore, if you need anyone, just press the buzzer."

Major Indrajeet Sharma may be a middle aged military doctor, but his experienced eyes could perceive a budding love story on the verge of blossoming ... He left those two aching hearts to heal themselves with each other's magical touch.

"SEE? I TOLD YOU!" Looking at the morose, silent atmosphere of the room, Yudh taunted his partners in crimes, "Millions of time I had told you, those docs are up to no good... We should've killed them at the first chance. For the first time I REPEAT first time any prisoner escaped from our clutches!" He threw his hands in frustration.

Chief Nakshatra tried to keep himself composed, but feeling of blinding fury and bitter taste of defeat from someone they had underestimated, were reflected in his voice. " Where's Laksh and Ragini?"

" Don't know chief!" This time Arjun answered, " Because of his wrong assumptions we're in trouble, Chief! He insisted to spare them even fought with us for this purpose! "

Agni felt humiliated earlier, when Laksh termed his decision to execute the prisoners as "Bewakoofi". He couldn't stop himself from supporting Arjun and Yudh, " Yes we all did blunder by trusting them, paying heed to Laksh's words. But we've our shares of fault and carelessness too."

Chief stirred with uneasiness, " Guys, this is not the time of counting mistakes, rather we should do some damage control immediately. About Laksh, I'll deal him as soon as the crisis is over. And Agni, you're right! We all have our share of mistakes, that includes me too!"

" Sorry chief I didn't mean it that way!" Agni looked startled,but Chief stopped him raising his hands. Then he addressed all,

"Any more updates?"

"My cellphone is missing Chief, and switched off.Looks like the sim was changed. We can't even trace as it was made tracking proof . Worst part about this missing phone fiasco is, if some really great hackers get it in their hands , we'll have to pay a lot as this phone was used during past missions and some blueprints were being made for future attacks!" Vikash informed in a tensed voice...

"THAT'S IT! THEY CAN'T FLEE AT ANY COST!" Chief roared. " I want Dr Bose and Dr Oberoi, DEAD OR ALIVE!!!"

Time had ceased for them at the moment... Numerous emotions could be deciphered from those molten caramel and deep hazel irises... Glistening tears, admonishing glances, yearning for each other, relieved expressions... everything... All the verses together had composed a surreal, sublime ballad, along the dancing amber and golden flecks of his and her pairs of lorn orbs...

Sanskar dared to tear the aching enchantment of tranquility between them. "What was that, ha? Tum kab sudhroge? Did I ever ask you to prove your fearless attitude? Each and every time of crisis you lay yourself in the line of fire!" His voice was breaking as he uttered the next words, " Those marks on your necks are result of pushing Laksh's limit, turning him all riled up! A shot injury on your shoulder... You braced that bullet yourself, attempted to die by saving my life... Kyu Swara? Kya har bar mera imtehan lena jaruri hai? Kabhi socha agar tum yeh larai har jati toh?Meri agle haar jeet iss har ki gham ke piche kho jate! Mere liye yeh zindagi sirf ek bojh baan jate! Kya har bar ye ehsaas dilana jaruri hai ki mein kitna useless hoon?"

" Shut up, Sanskar! Dare you call yourself useless! Tell me, Ye larai mein kaise harti?Tum mujhe kabhi harne diya kya? Akhir hum jeet hi gaye na? See? I'm fine!" Swara smiled weakly.

" I can see how much fine you're!" Sanskar was still angry at her. He sat near her, his eyes turned soft when he noticed her pressing lips together in pain as she tried to stir, "Don't move Swara! Is the pain too much to bear? Should I ask the nurse for more painkiller?" He caressed her face and silky brunette tresses with his slender long fingers.

"No Sanskar,they gave me all the injections. This little pain is normal. Just feeling exhausted. Did you have anything?"Swara enquired.

Sanskar didn't answer. Instead he planted a feathery kiss on her forehead and pinched her nose. "Pagal ladki! It's you with who's lying here, covered with loads of bandages and had a massive hemorrhage. Don't you think your question is silly?"

"Don't try to change the topic,Sanskar! Kuch khaya ki nehi?" Swara threatened him

"M.mm.. Yeah.." Sanskar answered looking at another direction.

"Don't believe that liar,Swara!" Ayaz entered, " Sunny the cheater! How could you ignore that food? Kitni pyaar se Kiki tere liye le aye the? How could you insult her love ha?"

Kiki! A girl who loves Sanskar?Her Sanskar? Swara's eyes were threatening to pour pearl like droplets , This piece of information caused h more agonizing pain than her physical wounds were causing. Her heart, her entire existence burned... Jealousy, the green eyed monster ravaged her soul brutally... Did Sanskar love that Kiki too?

"Oh so you're Swara! Thank God you woke up!"Kiara entered and then started to blast Sanskar ,"Sunny! How could you skip the meal? All these years you did fake praises, you hate my cooking isn't it?"

"For God's sake,spare me you two! And I'm sorry but really wasn't in mood! You know very well how much I love your cooking!" Sanskar looked apologetic.

Swara felt betrayed... she couldn't stand Sanskar and Kiki easy camaraderie! She closed her eyes and uttered rather coldly,

"Sanskar, go and eat now! Can you people please leave me alone? Feeling exhausted and need some rest."

Sanskar became tensed again, " What happened Swara? Are you feeling worse than before? We should call the doctor ! AK call the doctor now! Bhabi, can you bring water for Swara?

"Bhabi" this word extinguished the fire in Swara's heart. She held his hand,
" I'm alright Sanskar, just a bit tired! But yeah, I'm definitely furious and you should be sorry!" She glanced towards Kiara, "Bhabi, can you please bring his food here? I'll see how he skips it!"

Kiara abided immediately, and AK smirked looking at his friend's condition.

Sanskar huffed in fake anger and punched AK, "You dog! Tu aur tera biwi! Jeena haram kar rakha hai mera tum logone! And Swara, meet the overly pushy, irritating couple. This is my buddy cum colleague Ayaz Khalid, you saw him before... and ye uss ka biwi, Hispanic - American Kiara Castillo Khalid, also an agent."

"You can call us Bhai and Bhabi, Swara! I'd definitely love to have a younger sister!" AK proposed cheerily.

Swara nodded and beamed. Suddenly her world was full of laughter, warmth and happiness... May be something more?

"Sunny , Shinde Sir wants to talk to you. He says it's urgent!" AK handed his phone to him.

"Hello SSR, good job and welcome back !Now listen to me very carefully. You can't stay in Bangalore for long time. You have to leave within 6 hours! " DCS Prithviraj Shinde let him know the reason of his urgent call without wasting any time

"But Swara is injured, Sir. How can we shift her in this condition? It's too risky!" Sanskar too voiced his apprehension.

" You know Black wolves are after you right? Longer you stay here means more possibility for them to find you." Shinde explained "And I've arranged for air ambulance for Dr Bose. Air Force authority will be taking the responsibility of it. After all,she showed a lot of courage in our mission. She even didn't fear for her life! It's the least we can do for her!"

" Where are we supposed to go? I know Delhi is out of options. Then?" Sanskar enquired.

Shinde had shared the most vital information at last. "We'll meet you both in our headquarters in Mumbai tomorrow. Then you'll leave India, both you and Dr Bose!"

Interpol Safe house, Mumbai

"No Sanskar please!" Swara pleaded, "Why are you tormenting me so much? Don't think I'll take all the troubles without any protest. Mera haat jakham hua, pair nehi. Agar jyada pareshan kiya toh mein yaha se bhaag jaungi!" She tried to get up from here sitting position but wobbled.

Sanskar immediately held her, supporting her back with one hand and wrapped her waist with the other one. Swara had closed her eyes in fear and pain. He became irate at her childish antics,

" Swara! What's this? You could hurt yourself more and worsen your conditions! All for escaping a bowl of soup? You're doctor but behaving like a very bad patient yourself!" He was scolding her, but soon smiled noticing her puppy eyes look, " Aur kaha bhaagogi meri jaan? Tumhein bhaagne ki koi mauka hi nehi chodunga!"

Pink shades again tinted Swara's pale face, her lashes again became the bodyguard of her bashful doe eyes. Sanskar mentally kicked himself for his slip of tongue. Earlier he teased her a lot, enjoyed flirting as he found her shy reddened face very adorable and cute! But since he came to realise his feelings, he didn't wanted his endearing words for Swara to be perceived as joke. He wanted his every heart felt sweet words to be etched in her heart.

Now Sanskar Singh Rathore is madly, passionately, irrevocably in love with Swara Bose. He needs her not as mere friend or mission partner, he wanted her... to be his, his lover, his betrothed, his soul mate, future Mrs Swara Sanskar Singh Rathore! He wanted to confess his love in a very special way, on the 31st night, the date which marks the end of a year, and a new beginning!

Interpol headquarters had a festive mood. After long days they had a major progress regarding Mission Black wolves. Secondly, their favourite jovial colleague SSR had returned in one piece, who were immensely popular among female agents. Last but not the least the entire Mumbai branch were eagerly waiting to meet Dr Swara Bose, who did around 25 surgeries and inserted the trackers successfully, being a normal girl she went through a traumatic month yet kept calm and aided SSR.

Sanskar reached the HQ supporting Swara by held in her carefully. She was wearing an off shoulder blue floral long dress paired with a slate blue Cashmere wrap. The bare shoulder was wrapped under dressing and she was wearing an arm sling. Her hair was open, placed on the uninjured shoulder. She had only pink tinted lip balm on her lips, yet Sanskar had a hard time to resist himself from ogling. He himself was looking handsome in grey blazer, white T-shirt and black pants. His stubble was trimmed, giving him amasculine, rugged look. Swara felt swooning over him again and again, like a silly teenage girl. Sanskar Oberoi looked kind of cute with his clean shaven look. But SSR with stubbles was drop dead gorgeous, macho, oozing raw temptation.

Everyone present in the large hall room greeted Swasan as they were soldiers returning from war front. A black recliner was placed for Swara. Sanskar seated in the chair next to her.

Prithviraj Shinde introduced himself. " Good morning, Dr Bose. I'm DCS Prithviraj Shinde. I'm glad to meet you personally at last. We owe you apology,Dr Bose. Firstly, we couldn't save you and Dr Mathur. (Swara was silent!) You had to spend a whole month in that hell for the sake of our mission. Moreover your life, career everything would not be the same."

"Don't be sorry for what happened to me. And Baba , I mean Dr Mathur was killed by the terrorists in a flight. You had nothing to do! You lead a dangerous life, take risks and dare a so that rest of us can stay safe. I feel honoured to contribute my part. I may be a civilian, but I never planned to have a safe career. You can do me one favour. Just arrange for my academic and training certificate from Delhi. I'll surely manage."

" You'll receive them in 24 hours. You can join your family in Canada. But at first you have to accompany SSR to Washington DC . You both have to report in our branch there. Then we'll dispatch you to safety. And SSR,you would be transferred in Washington. It's better for you to stay away for some time. AK and KC (Kiara Castillo) would accompany you both. I hope these arrangements are perfect for you"

Sanskar and Swara's dreamland was shattered in a moment... Their blissful journey has come to end? They never expected this, impending separation.

"Sanskar no! You can't lose her! Humare rastein alag kaise ho sakta? Par mein kaise rokungi? Kya Swara bhi usi dard, usi takleef se guzar raha hai jo mere dil par beet rahi hain? Kya woh bhi meri tarah khwab tootne ki gham mein toot rahi hain? Uski dil mein mere fikr hain, par kya woh fikr family se badkar hoga? " Sanskar's inside wrenched in pain.

Swara's condition was no better than him, "If I knew I'd have to pay such a heavy price for my freedom, I would've stayed in that hell forever! Sanskar! mera dil kehta hain, tumhare dil mein bhi mere liye kuch hain. Kuch adhuri baatein hain jo abhi bolna baki hain! Kuch adhuri ehsaas hain jisko hum dono ki dil mein manzil milna hain! Tumhari zindagi ki liye maine maut ko bhi gale lagane ki himmat kiya. Ab jab mein zinda hoon, toh tumhein mere zindagi se door kaise jaane de sakti?" Turbulent thoughts troubled her mind, yet she was determined to fight for her love.

She took a deep breath and announced, " Sir, I'm extremely sorry, but I've some problems with this arrangement."

Hi Kriti,

I was missing you all soo much, but this stupid chapter troubled me a lot. I'll really miss writing Swasan's forest romance! Still haven't decided what twist I'd bring after several chapters. I hope I can surprise you in the next chapters.

Glad that you liked this slow paced update. I still have to struggle with emotional scenes...

Dear Sushma,

Thanks for your compliment. Yes Sanskar and Swara are deeply in love. Their love grew in such a short span of time, as they together fought to escape death, supported each other through thick and thin. You know every relationship is tested truly through "Agnipariksha"(I don't know the English term). That's the reason they have rock solid faith.
