I want to write today in two parts
From the makers POV
What is the purpose of this show? I mean the REAL PURPOSE
Make Money. Bottom Line if we don't make money it is a losing proposition. This show has run almost for an year. It seems to have a lot of fan following ..I heard there are other channels Non Indian also going to run this show .
What is the main selling point of this show.?
Let us not get carried away that it was a story?, It was also a story but the story was nothing new . It was the phenomenal cast that the makers had..More importantly the main leads looked awesome together. So how can the makers cash in on this by making a new story from the old ..A tried and true method for Soaps. Some American soaps ran for 50 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why because the leads in the show had a crazy following and people who watched it felt that they were part of family.
How do we market any product after it loses it charm.?
.In my opinion this show in the current format was losing charm... maybe refurbish it to bring in new nuances and maybe take a gamble that because of the curiosity the old viewers will stay and new ones will come in just to view a new story.
Is this a gamble Yes, But 'Life is a Gamble so throw the Dice' approach is what makers have taken
Now to the Story:
Yesterday I wrote a Post 'after all it is fiction' and I believe it was HDGranger who wrote a beautiful post saying that even though we say it is fiction if we discuss it, analyse it it influences us that post really woke me up because even though I thought this show was a fiction it really was affecting me personally.
How would I wean from this?
Maybe try to watch it with no baggage's or personal expectations and then came the news of this Leap or whatever and thus has given me that opportunity to view this as a new story a story where we wanted a strong female lead maybe we will get that , a male lead who doesn't only look nIce but is strong too..I think even though his external appearance will be drastic I am thinking he will be shown not caring and that is new characteristic of Dev because Dev's weakness was he cared too much .. BUT about the wrong people maybe it is time for him to care about the right people. Last but not least we want Easwari to get her dues and I think she will.
Life is about learning lessons and maybe this separation is needed for BOTH Sona and Dev to learn theirs whether it is to be together or separate it is their life and it really does not affect ours unless we let it
Ending with a favorite quote of mine
Life is a gamble and I am calling its bluff
We always have the opportunity to call the makers Bluff we can stop watching thereby hurting their purse strings the power is with us
So let us start a brand new journey no baggage, no expectations, afresh and this time let us try to maybe not get too emotionally vested in the characters..me included
This is just my opinion of course everyone is entitled to theirs
