Dev slapping Bijoy is a crime...I will not get into whether it is intentional or unintentional because a its a grave mistake. But the big question is what next? What could be the disaster management steps?
Here I want to share a real life incident which happened in 2011. In my year2 undergrad class one of the students hasn't met the requisite attendance and his mother came to pay the defaulter fee to admit him for the exam. I could feel the tensed situation as both the mother-son due were agitated. Mother started complaining and comparing this boy with his elder brother who was a high achiever. In a heated moment the boy got up and raised his hands on his mom and he banged on the table and left the room. Mom was completely shattered, I consoled her with a heavy heart. This incident stayed in my memory for many years. After that the boy went to UK completed his BS and Masters. I also forgot about him with the commencement of new semester new students etc.
I met him last year. I cudnt believe my eyes from an angry bullying teenager he has transformed to a handsome young man and settled well in life. I kept my apprehension away and asked him about his mom. Here goes his response
"Doc you know what kind of relationship I had with her. But she didn't loose her hopes on me, she trusted me and stood as my pillar of confidence. What I'm today is because of her incessant support and trust ".
His mother could have created a big scene at home and humiliated him. But she took the correct step and moulded him lots of care and concern. ( I'm presuming that as I was not privied to what transpired between them after that incident).

So friends pl share your thoughts. Dev has committed an unpardonable mistake. Does that mean Sona should leave him? Divorce him? Or take corrective steps to restore her happiness ( which we weren't feeling but she was definitely).

Yes she should leave him because he has slapped her father. This is unpardonable. No amount of grovelling or sorries will do the work. Also, if you are trying to apply the mother - son example to a husband - wife relation then I think it would be a wrong comparison. Sona isn't Dev's mother. A mother's choices are limited and it is one of her duties to ensure that her child is raised well which the mother in your example did. Here Ishwari has failed in her upbringing, that is no reason for Sona to suffer.

Better choose temporary pain & separation by choosing self respect & your father than choose a life time of pain & humiliation at the hands of all & sundry because you married a temperamental fool who is the product of bad upbringing. A father like Bijoy over a wimp of a husband who can man up only in front of his wife Dev any day.

i want to share a real incident where son hit his father with umbrella. These ppl are our neighbors, here the son is a dentist and younger is a lawyer and father is retired from NDPL. After that the father called the police and mamla rafa dafa kiya. (mother worked as sr.nurse in AIIMS.She is retired now) Yeh educated family ka haal hai.
Society mein aese itne examples mil jayenge ki hum count bhi nahi kar sakte.

What is this ? Are you comparing Moron Dev with a teenager ? If so he shouldnt have married SO young dear..

Sona and Bijoy are not mothers to withstand any amount of crap they dissed at them.. A guy who slaps my father doesnt deserve to be in my life - that's the bottomlife..

I know dev have made a mistake or you can say a crime but leaving him is not a solution In this whole incidence dev is responsible but at the same time I feel Baba bose is also responsible we all know Ishu is a bad mother no one should get the mother like her but still she is his mother and some how baba bose has touch a very sensitive topic in his anger that is his struggle for money. many times when our row nerve get hit we react in a very different way and after some time we get surprise that how we have done this . After seeing the episode I am sure dev has not done this purposely and sona knows this. She is the only one who know the actual dev . and I feel sona is making the mistake by selling the property and shares. Having pride is good thing but you need to be practical.

Bang on dear...you nailed it...yes Bijoy's reference to their poverty ridden days made Dev loose his cool. As you rightly said itcwas an impulsive reaction.

Well right now that slap has caused the Bose family humiliation and now a very big debt sure divorce is not the solution but Sona also understands now Dev cannot hear or see anything when it comes to his mother
he freaked out the moment he saw his wife stand with her father instead of him the husband .
how does someone like him start respecting his wife's parents when the first time he apologized to his mother he said he called Asha maa and that was a mistake and this time he slaps Bijoy
Dev will first have to hit rock bottom for him to truly realize what he has been doing just to keep his mother happy to respect her he neglects all other relations
Dev will have to find himself from ground and then start lifting himself up and I somehow think its only possible when he losses something in his life then only he'll be able to hit rock bottom
