Karan Oberoi was in for a shock when, on December 31, 2007 the Band Of Boys was performing on stage at Mehrauli grounds in Delhi before nine thousand odd audience. After the performance Karan was signing autographs backstage when a male fan came rushing, grabbed him by his hair and smooched him.

The actor-cum-singer is still reeling under the shock and is yet to share his horror story with girlfriend Mona Singh. Says Chin2, one of the singers of Band of Boys, "We were in Delhi performing in a huge open-air ground in Delhi. Normally after the performance we encourage fans to interact with the performers. Delhi audience has extreme reactions - if they like the performance they shower love on the performer, but god forbid if they dislike it! We were back stage mingling with the audiences, clicking pictures and signing autographs when a fan jumped out of nowhere. He was sozzled, he came close to Karan, smiled at him and suddenly caught him by his hair and gave him a lip to lip. Even before Karan could react the man vamoosed."

Chin2 adds, "Karan pushed the man aside and called the bouncers to take him away."

Still sounding shocked, Karan recalls, "I was embarrassed to death, completely shocked, I still haven't got over it. I was not angry but did not know how to react. My Band boys tease me so much. Our band mostly has women fans but off late we have acquired male fan following too. I will make sure that I don't encourage fans backstage in future!"
