I'll always take the "old classmates" take on celebrities with a grain of salt.
Every human goes to reunions and meets people that make them go "did they really attend our school". Every human goes to reunions and meets people who say "um, I'm sorry, I cannot place you"

C'est la vie.

Every school has groupism and bullies.. Nothing new!
She should be thankful that her school life is over and move on with peace..college life is better than school IMO!

Our society is classist. It's not like today Alia or any other actor invite ordinary folks to their home. Cliques exist everywhere. Not condoning Alia or anyone but who cares...form your own group and move on. I wonder what the non-Bollywood children have to go through in Dhirubhai Ambani school. Bachchan baby and Aamir's son might get all the lead parts in Dramas.šŸ˜†

In my school one of my senior was an MP's son. He was a spoilt brat. He actually brought beer on the day of farewell. Another was vice principal's son he used to get all the leads in school programs.

If Alia was always been the same (class conscious) then why does it bother whether she recognize the other classmates or not later after getting success !!

But from personal experience it hurts if a childhood good buddy ignores you after getting success though they are often extra nice in their struggle period..šŸ˜‰ And it particularly happens with film and television "actors"..The other successful friends like a very successful academician or renowned poet or journalist or a rocket scientist or even a director doesn't generally have these kind of hung ups..

There is this funny obsession all teachers have with any kid who is even remotely associated with Bollywood..
atleast here it is "Alia bhatt" getting the lead roles in dramas then and now in the movies..

back when I was in college..Parzan Dastur who played the silent Sikh kid in KKHH was my junior..and he grew up to look really awkward and gawky..šŸ¤”yet he got the lead roles in dramas..and I dint see any great acting talent in him either..which could overshadow his not so great looks...šŸ¤“ there were far better lookers and actors around, yet just because, he played a really random role as a kid..he got preference..wierd af!🤪

ehhh.
I studied in some school and my bestfriend is an immediate relative of a big celebrity here in Telugu film industry - such kids do not speak to many because usually the world is harsh for them, like in junior high she was bullied by some peeps, and class-fellows would hate her, poke fun at her, try hard to find faults in her just out of spite.. Teachers would favor her obviously because of the name and also try to be protective of her. She used to talk to few and avoid many in the beginning, she was suspicious of other girls too who would feign friendliness with her. However, later on, as times passed she learnt to be friendly, but not everyone can do that because, it's risky.

So, when schools have groupism some kids either learn to break the walls or they just stay in their comfort zones...

It's easy to be judgemental, but everyone has a reason for the way they are - a genuine one, everyone have their share of struggles..
