We are selfish when it comes to eating the food we like, we don't eat everything our mum or dad cook for us. Surely she can be selfish when it comes to the person we love?

However we are in real life we want the leads of a movie or serial to be perfect or make us feel sympathetic towards them, many a times even anti hero's have been successful in evoking this feeling. Regarding choice one always has a choice, it is what one chooses. As I said Vividha choose this path. She was okay to trample on someone else feeling and secondly the makers have portrayed her more selfish and self centered

Selfish for Atharv, yes and that won't change. She wants him and she's been clear about since that revelation to Ravish. I don't want my leads to be perfect, why should I? I've felt sympathy in their imperfectness.

I've been giving a real life example but no-one is really giving me an appropriate response. Is a girl who chooses to marry a stranger being selfish when her own life is in danger? She goes along with all the rituals miserably to marry that guy her father has picked. She could attempt to run away, that would be her CHOICE but she's too scared to do that in the fear that she's found and killed. Would
You call her selfish?

I would call her selfish, one may understand the reasons but it doesn't deny the fact that she is selfish. In reality also all of us are selfish and think only about ourselves we don't reflect to think about the repercussions of our actions on other but when we watch a movie or serial we do want things to take place in a particular way, Ram is a hero for many and is worshipped and for some villain depending on ones perspective. We want the leads to behave in a particular manner depending upon our values. Overall it is the writers fault that some are not able to empathise with the female lead.

That's what I'm saying, being selfish is in our nature. If we want something, we want it. In the process we may hurt others but it's not done intentionally to hurt others.

We can't blame the writers for being able to create a FL whom isn't perfect. Why do we want everyone to agree with what she's doing? The whole point of fiction is that we can analysise actions from our perspective.

I gave that real life example because millions of girls go through that situation everyday in remote areas of India. They marry to save their own life, or the family's honour...these things do happen! By all means if you call that selfish then so be it but not once can anyone say that the girl is happily doing this whilst 'cheating' another family!

If Vividha cheated Ravish & his family then so has every girl who married in to a family they didn't want to because by logic, all of them had a choice but they succumbed to fear!

That's way the difference is isn't it.
We basically watch TV or movie for entertainment, we also like to see how our favourite character reacts in a particular situation. It is not necessary that all have the same point of view, if some don't like what is being shown it is their choice, you cannot force them to change their opinion... People who bash a particular couple here for getting forcefully married or continuing love affair after marriage give different opinion in another forum for the same. Each to their own. Anyway it was nice discussing with you

You too Neeraja :). Good to have a decent conversation!

Faryal - there was nothing sexual to that hug (she's done it before) or kiss on the cheek. It was out of pure love & relief thinking he's back!

That 1999's Nandini was far better than 2016-17s Pathetic Vividha Even if cvs showed ViTharv reunion Viewers like me will praise Ravish but will remain DISGUSTED with Vividha Kashyup because it wont be the greatness of ViTharv love which bowed the society in front of them Its the greatness of Ravish Vashist who saved ViTharv lives and united them They are indebted to him While Vividha only gave pain to Ravish, he made her life Some other woman will come in Ravish and will do damage control in Ravish's life The damage that this VIVIDHA did
What is greatness of ViTharv in this ? zero
