Loved what Nitesh said about handling the crew-the whole surviving first week of the shoot and no shouting on set.❤️ However, I completely disagree with what he said about reality vs creativity and the same old 'this is a film, not a documentary'.One living example of making a project commercially viable yet retaining it's originality is right across the table-Ram Madhvani. Creative freedom should be there and yes, real life is not a screenplay but I still feel they could have done something much better than the whole coach angle in Dangal. That honestly was just playing for the gallery and playing safe.
Coming to what they were discussing about the lower footfalls and low interest in films, I would actually blame them or rather the production houses for this. There's so much of investment in promotions and everything is literally out there for the audience on Youtube and press that the excitement for the film automatically dies by the time the film releases.I used to love when trailers weren't released on Youtube. There's so much more excitement in waiting for the trailer to drop at the theatre and watch it. I did the same for Jagga Jasoos. That experience is magical and if you take that away from the audience, everyone is bound to lose interest. First look, first teaser, motion trailer, teaser ka trailer..so many things!

And lastly, I didn't find this roundtable a misfit. That's what I love about Rajeev. He always selects people involved in a range of films and not all of the same kind. You get to understand the opinion and point of view of a variety of people and their school of thoughts.I really enjoyed Karan Johar's presence and I'm sure if someone else was there instead of him, I definitely wouldn't have known about how Saturday is a multiplex day and Sunday is a single screen day and the economics of the film business.

And Ram Madhvani is like that uncle who sends unfunny whatsapp forwards in the family group followed by a '🤣'.

KJo is quite entertaining and speaks very well. I think that's why Rajeev called him. 😆

AAZ & KJo shouldn't be here. KJo should be slapped twice every day for ADHM!

Yes KJo can be real articulate when he wants to be, can make good movies when he wants to which is what makes ADHM even worse. There is always this sense of KJo wanting to take over whenever he's invited to IVs.

It's telling how even when there are far better directors the eye goes to KJo most because he is charming & articulate when he isn't obsessed with people's sex lives.

Kapoor and Sons is hugely overrated I couldnt even finish the promos 🤔 what was so path breaking in Kapoor & Sons? More than KJo I think Shakun Batra doesnt deserve to be there!

I don't think there has been a more overrated film than K&S in recent years. I found it so boring and pretentious.

I found Pink and DZ to be extremely overrated, and I'm glad both those directors aren't here. 😆

I loved K&S, and that might be because I agree with Shakun. I never related to the family dramas in the 90s etc and always longed for some subtlety in Bollywood, which K&S delivered for me. So well-deserved, IMO. Not too sure about UP, but it was highly talked about, which is probably why Abhishek has been called.

Very Boring round table conf... not much insights provided .
Wished there were better questions asked...as most of them had only 2-3 films directed ... that too not some Path Breaking work done .
Entire Intv I kept looking for something that I dint knew or something Interesting , but that point never came ,

Also I waited for Nitesh to speak something on his entire Dangal making process...but Karan and Ram kept talking , talking and talking...

Ali Abbas Zafar ...shouldn't have even been called . There was nothing that he added to the Disc...

LOL...at Shakun and Kapoor's Saga...

Seems as if it was the KJO show. But unlike Shoojit last year KJO didnt really seem to try and interrupt alot of people. The other 5 didnt seem to mind KJO talked the most.
