Loved your thought process for both Dev n Sona.

First few lines of your post...Dev says the exact same thing to Ishwari too...he says to Sona we are one...n same to Ish ..tht we are special n one.

He has understood the problem...Ishwari's insecurities, not ready to accept Sona but he doesn't hav d skill or sensibilities to resolve it. In such close personal matters...he tries to avoid direct conversation..he himself tries to resolve everthing on his own like he has always done..n many times he falters coz he tries to solve emotional issues like a business problem. He has always acted like a saviour to his family n wants to do the same for Sona...only difference is Sona is not a damsel in distress waiting to be rescued. She wants his support...like Dev said abt Sona...unhe kisi ke sahare ki nahi, saath ki jaroorat hai. Hope Dev remembers his own words n stop rescuing Sona from destiny..they have face all problems together.
