The Weakling or the Survivor

Priyanka had not been able to sleep much. She went downstairs for breakfast and to get herself a cup of tea. Or perhaps a delicious coffee made by Shivaay. That might give her an extra energy boost for the rest of the day. She did not have a clear plan yet, but she knew she had to take actions.

All night long the Chhabra's and the ACP had been on her mind. She had come very close of telling everything to Shivaay. He would handle it. He would hire a private detective. She changed her mind though. Shivaay had been preoccupied with his wedding. It would not be right to burden him with this now. She would handle this herself. She would show him she was not weak at all.

It had bothered her too much seeing it highlighted: Weak Link. Her whole life had she been labeled as the baby. The sensitive breakable Oberoi. Just a pretty face. Good thing she was born and raised into a rich family, or else what would become of her.

She loved her family dearly. Her brothers protection had always felt like a warm blanket, especially the past 2 years, for which she would be forever thankful. But she could not shake the feeling to break loose now. It was time to show them, the world, or perhaps just him that she could stand her own ground when she needed to.

Deafened by the noise of her own emotions and thoughts which ran through her mind, she did not notice someone calling out for her. She felt someone softly holding her back by her wrist. It was Soumya. The poor girl was panting heavily since she was practically running after Priyanka.

"Gosh Priyanka, are you that hungry? You were walking so fast. I just could not keep up with you. And I was calling and calling you. But no response. What's going on? Everything alright?"

"Good morning Soumya. You are up early. Any special plan?" Priyanka had responded evasively, successfully distracting her.

"No.. Yes.. No.. I mean, Rehaan is coming to pick me up. Sheetal aunty wants to discuss designs of clothes and jewelry with me. Nothing special. But I am not feeling well. Like my stomach is in a knot. Twirling around. I don't know. I thought perhaps I should eat something. That might make me feel better."

"Soumya.. Perhaps you are not hungry but just nervous? After all you are going to meet your in-laws and discuss serious wedding stuff."

Priyanka smiled. Sweet, bubbly Soumya. She had become a part of their family the very instant she set foot in the mansion. When would she realise her youngest brother had a thing for her. It was very obvious she had taken a liking towards Rudra as well. They were elder to her but Priyanka had always been fast to pick up such vibrations quickly. She could not understand how people could be so blind to such emotions and attractions. Look at Dev and her. Dev...

She just realized she had not thought of Dev much these days. Ever since she left the ashram, she had not spoken to him. The only person in her mind had been the ACP. How could one person be so arrogant, dominant and then so caring as well? Split personality perhaps?

Priyanka thought again of all those names on the whiteboard. Rehaan. What if she could talk to him. Perhaps he could give her more information. She could inquire about Dev as well. When would he be back? Would she dare to speak to Sheetal aunty about this?

"Soumya.. Shall I keep you company and come along with you? I could help you. I love picking out clothes and jewelry."
