Chandra gupta Maurya was a great emperor but here he is shown as an angry revengefull man who is mean to Nandini.
He keeps saying revenge. If it is for his father he has killed all the brothers of Nandini. How many more does he want to kill? he might as well kill her too.
This kind of hatred makes him look bad.
Agreed Nand killed his father and imprisoned his mother.
But Chandra has killed all her brothers actually massacred them when they were not armed.
All the brothers except Dhananand were killed when they were captives.
After that he is still swearing revenge and is mean to Nandini.

I can't digest the way CGM wanted to kill the mentally challenged brother of Nandini when the person was not even knowing that he was the enemy.
Characterisation is such that Chandra GM is not showing any magnanimity.
As far his looks CGM with his triangular bindi and hair that looks like it needs head and shoulders shampoo (dandruff) he does not come across as as impressive as he should be.
Nandini on the other hand is fine she is a normal girl as well as loving her family as she should and also being nice to CGM's family as and when required.
Which foolish king will keep all his wive's relatives whose husbands are his sworn enemies inside the palace allowing them to roam freely?
