i want Bir Bulut Olsam as zindagi is bold enough to show that drama. it highlights alot of issues like forced marriages, cousin marriages, marital rape, women's financial independance. you get to the see the dark side of rural turkey which is very similar to rural communities in our part of the world.
The show made so many people fights and divided families it was a dinner table discussion.
everyone was talking about it n there were polar attitudes towards mustafa bulut. one side totally crazy for him defending him and other so baffled by the character and hating his actions but loving Engin so much. you really start to appreciate his talent after watching the show there is alot of range he shows, he goes from bitchy and sadistic to mellow and puppy eyed in less than a split second.
even here on the channel's fb page fans were always fighting and cursing the response was so extreme what we call 'jazbaati ho jana'
BBO in short is an excellent depiction of an all consuming love echoing the sadistic obsessive love of SRK movies from the mid 90's with a rural turkish twist rarely seen, where women are deprived of basic human rights, men are abusive and class struggles exist complicating matters. 😛
an did u know halil from feriha was a copy paste of mustafa bulut but a really bad crappy copy lol they even copied his look. if u hated halil wait for mustafa Bulut u will claw your eyes out with anger and frustration but still love him so much. hes a classic ' i love hi but i hate him yet i love him' kind of character.
I found this summary of the show online on 'Bir Bulut Olsam' ( i wish i was a cloud) it is written by some fan. after reading it i said i will watch the show and i did enjoy Engin alot in it.
"BBO is the story of Mustafa Bulut and Narin's intertwined fate and whether Narin will get to escape her husband Mustafa Bulut's all consuming love...
Mustafa is obsessed with Narin. He is not normal, he is Epileptic, psychotic and crazy. But he is also a genuine and true lover..who loves alot but does not know how to show it the right way..For him love is the same as owning. Deprived of societies acceptance due to his medical condition, Mustafa longs for love. He is fixated on Narin, keeping her in captivity tied to himself with chains.
Each morning forcing her to walk on mines near the syrian border, he wants to proove to Narin that each moment she is alive is a sign of destiny guiding her to accept his love that death shall evades you as it cant claim what is mustafa's.
For Narin this love is a burden, her love for him is sisterly and the marriage a mockery of the institution.Unable to receive back her love, Mustafa gets uncontrollably violent and breaks into epilepsy attacks. ...Being the son of an influential landlord/Mayor no one dares to raise a voice against the torture Narin faces...
In the warped up mind of Mustafa Bulut, Narin is an extention of his soul. His body is left lifeless when he falls into a catatonic state at their forced seperation. Such is the pull of a woman on him whom the society deems as plain jane.
Doctor Serdar tries to help Narin be free from clutches of Mustafa's tortured love but Mustafa is not the sort to easily accept defeat. He is fixated on Narin, the centre of his universe and will do anything to have her back... if you have seen the fury of a woman scorned, be ready to see how it holds no light to the vengeful and claustrophobic grip of a man hurt in love."
