Window to Love

Aarti was stunned by the vision that she beheld. He was the hottest specimen that she had ever seen. He was standing the balcony of the house next door, and from her bedroom window she had a perfect view of his perfect upper body. He was having an energy drink and his hair was wet and plastered to his head and face from the sweat. He had obviously just finished working out. She could not tear her gaze away. In fact she was so entranced by him that she did not even realise that he was looking back at her for a long time. And when she did she saw the strange look he was giving her, she was mortified. She quickly drew her curtains and turned around and sat down on the window seat on which she was standing. Then she saw her reflection in the mirror and she let out a scream. She had forgotten that she was wearing her mother's old caftan, her hair was in huge curlers and she had on a facemask. She was getting ready for her party later. She was even more embarrassed that this gorgeous creature saw her like that.

The new neighbours moved in the day before. The Dubey's lived in one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Mumbai and about a year ago, the 2 houses next to them were sold. Both the houses were demolished and in its place arose and mansion bigger than any of the others in the area. Apparently the family was insanely wealthy and hailed from Bhopal. They had business interests throughout India, but their daughter, who was also the youngest, was starting at the Mumbai University the following year and that is why they decided to move here. Apparently her parents had met the family before but she hadn't. She wondered how and where the hunk fit in. She knew that the eldest son was married and then there was a middle son and then the daughter.

No matter, she thought. She had just finished high school and she had lots of parties to go to before she went off to Dehli to study. And she was taking special care of her appearance tonight as Prashant would be there. They had just officially started dating, even though they had liked each other for a while. Her parents only gave her permission to have a boyfriend after she had finished her final exams. Everyone knew that her results would be good, it always was.

Yash was annoyed. He had specifically instructed the architect about his section of the house. He had his own wing. It consisted of a bedroom, gym and office. He told them that he wanted this balcony built in such a way so that no one can see onto the balcony but he had to have access to all the views around him. And he had that strange looking person staring at him. He wanted peace and privacy at his home. He was considered one of the 10 most eligible bachelors in the country and he had so much unwanted attention. When he was younger he lapped up the attention. He had a different girl every night. But now that he was older, he wanted to be taken seriously. When he started at the company 3 years ago, he realised that people thought that he was just a playboy with no skill. He had set out to set the record straight and worked hard to do so. Now he was respected in his field. Not just as SP Scindiya's son, but as a force to be reckoned with in the Events Organising Industry. He now was sought after by, politicians, Bollywood and TV stars, and everyone that was anyone to arrange events from weddings to film premiere's and concerts. He still had his lady friends but these days he was much more selective of his companions and he resented any untoward attention as he was just too busy. From a player of note he has now become a 24 year workaholic. Everything and everyone had to work around that.

He was the driving force behind this move to Mumbai. Firstly it was way more metropolitan than Bhopal and then secondly, he couldn't just let Neelam move that far away. He didn't mind commuting between Bhopal and Mumbai, besides he travelled all over India all the time anyway. Besides Pankaj and his family still lived in Bhopal, as his law practice was there. He was not ready to move. So whether he was in Mumbai or Bhopal, he felt at home. He just hoped that this neighbour thing was not going to become a problem.

Aarti was busy in the kitchen. Her parents had invited the neighbours over for supper. They had become quite good friends after her mother took some supper over a few days after they moved in. Neelam was great. They had become fast friends. The two of them spent most of their time together at either house. She had introduced Neelam to her friends and she fit in so well. She found out that the hunk was the middle brother and that he was hardly at home. But she put that out of her mind.

"Di-di, Ma says they are starving you must bring the food." said her 8 year old brother.

"Yes, she says you and Neelu-di must stop chatting and come."

Neelam and Aarti burst out laughing at Aarti's brother and sister. Her parents had trouble conceiving after her and after several attempts, the twins were conceived via IVF. They were the apple of their di-di's eye.

"You cheeky monkeys, tell Ma we are coming now."

"They really make me Miss my Vendant and Vedhika. I have to go and visit Bhopal before the first semester starts. You must meet them too Aaru."

"Well from what you have told me about them, they sound lovely. I can't wait to meet them."

"Bhabhi is probably so happy that we left. She had her hands full because Yash bhayia and I spoil them rotten." she laughed. "But now we have to go, else we will get in trouble."

The two of them cooked and now everything was done, so they took it out to serve their two families.

Aarti was surprised when she heard Neelam squeal in delight.

"Bhayia, I didn't know you were home." she went to him and gave him a tight hug.

"Aaru, this is my brother, Yash."

Aarti blushed at the thought of their first encounter.

"Namaste Yashji."

He nodded.

"I'm hungry Princess Pea." said her father. He father always called her that as Aarti was the soundest sleeper ever. She could be up at any hour, especially to study but when she slept, she slept like a log and her parents had a time of it waking her up. Her favourite story as a little girl was the princess and the pea, and her parent liked telling her that as she was quite the opposite.

"'Coming dad." she served them, never making eye contact with him. Then she sat down, but the only spot available was across from him. She still tried to avoid his gaze which seemed too penetrating. And his eyes were as intoxicating as his body was that day. So she did little more than push her food to and fro on her plate and respond to the conversation half-heartedly, praying for the evening to end.

Yash could not keep his eyes off her. He had no intention of coming to this dinner but he found himself saying yes. He had come home late the previous night and everyone was already asleep in the house. He had showered and he went to stand on the balcony, not switching on the lights. He had seen a light at the same room where the person was staring at him and he couldn't help but look down. What he saw grabbed him. There was the sexiest creature dancing around in the room. She had a brush in her hand, pretending that it was a microphone. She was wearing only a vest and panties. She jumped around from the bed to the window seat, gyrating and dancing and singing. He could vaguely hear some music as the window was open. She was an excellent dancer. And she did not look like the person that he saw there the last time. She was way sexier than that. She had long raven tresses that she was throwing about in her movements and the most delicious curves he had seen in a long time. He was riveted. When she was done she came to the window and fanned herself and her hair was blowing in the wind, as she was trying to cool down. She threw her head back and shook her head as the wind blew through it. It made the most intoxicating sight and he was riveted. Finally she went inside but left the window open and went to her bed, she grabbed a Teddy bear, hugged and kissed it, and then settled at the bottom end of the bed with the breeze still on her. She seemed to be asleep quickly as he hair was still blowing in her face but she was oblivious to it. Before he knew it, he had jumped over his balcony, jumped over the wall between the two houses and climbed through the window.

He felt like a real pervert, he stood over her and moved the hair out of her face, covered her with a blanket that was on the window seat and switched off the light. He stopped and looked at her again. She looked absolutely angelic in her slumber, he removed one more errand strand and inhaled her fragrance and left the same way he came.

The encounter disturbed him as it was totally out of his character to do a crazy thing like that. What if she had woken up? Had he gone crazy? He made a decision not to do that again. He had hardly slept and got up very early to go to the office, that's why Neelam didn't see him and when he returned she was already next door. Apparently she had become good friends with the girl next door. Aarti. That was her name. He was tired and wanted an early night but he now found himself opposite her. She looked as uncomfortable as he felt, but still he couldn't keep from looking at her. Her eyes were as beautiful as the rest of her and he felt as if he was drowning in them. He was annoyed with himself. She was only 18 for goodness sake. She was his baby sister's friend. Had he gone completely insane?

He excused himself eventually. He had a dinner date, but he called and postponed it to later for a coffee date.

"Princess Pea, let Yash take some cake with him for later. Yash, my Princess makes the best chocolate mousse cake ever. You must take some."

He tried to decline but now he was standing in the kitchen while she was cutting a piece of cake for him. Her fingers got dirtied and she licked them clean. His breath caught at the sight and he felt a movement in another part of his anatomy.

She handed the cake to him, again not meeting his eyes.

"So now you can't look at me. You didn't mind the day after we moved in."

Aarti's head shot up as she gasped in shock. He cheeks were bright red.

"Well, you shouldn't be standing around outside half naked, should you." she said indignantly.

"I was on my private balcony, you were standing on a window seat."

"I ... I was fixing the curtain."

"Then you just stared at me. Did you like what you saw?'

"I have a boyfriend"

"And I have a few girlfriends but that doesn't answer my question."

"So your girlfriends don't tell you enough how hot you are, you need me too?"

"Hot, huh."

She closed her eyes, once again her tongue worked faster than her brain.

"I mean ... What the heck we both know you are hot. Now just take your cake and go."

Yash was highly amused. He managed to contain his laughter. She was so different to anyone he had met before, it was a pity she was too young for him. He took the cake and said:

"Good bye, peeping Tom."

A week went by and she didn't see him again. She was quite disappointed. Nearly as disappointed as hearing he had a few girlfriends. He was travelling as usual. She was lying next to their pool. Neelam was taking a call from one of her friends from Bhopal. She was half asleep when she heard Neelam come back.

"Please can you put some sun block on my back" she said stretching her arm to give her the sunblock without looking back.

But when she felt the person sit next to her she immediately knew it wasn't Neelam. But she didn't move. He was only applying sunblock, but it felt more like he a sensual caress. Her rubbed her shoulders and moved down to her back, which was naked except for the strap of her 2 piece bathing costume. His hands rubbed all the way down to the start of the bikini bottoms, then back as his hands dipped down the side of her breasts. Aarti, gasped. Her whole body was on fire, from more than the sun.

Suddenly he got up and jumped into the pool. The water splashed all over her. She screamed at shock as the cold water hit her hot body. She jumped and glared at him angrily. She grabbed the bottle of sunblock and hurled it at him, he quickly ducked under the water to avoid the impact.

He lifted his head and winked at her.

"Aarti, I am so sorry. My call took longer than expected." Neelam said,

"What's wrong?" she continued

"Nothing. I have to go home now." she said as she put on her sundress and walked off.

"Aarti ..."

"I will see you later, Neelam."

"Bhayia, did something happen?" she asked.

"No, nothing happened. She got mad because I splashed her."

"Oh, bhayia, you are such a tease. Aarti, doesn't know that side of you that is probably why she left."

"Probably" he said and continued swimming.

He got out of the pool and sat next to Neelam. She had asked one of the helpers to prepare a drink for him. If only she knew what had almost happened. What would have happened had she not come out when she had? He had come for a swim when he saw her lying there in all her splendour. And then she asked to apply the sunblock. He could not resist the temptation of being able to touch her delectable body. And she responded to his touch. Then he heard Neelam approaching. His only option was to jump into the pool otherwise his sister would have found him in a very embarrassing situation. He purposely jumped in close to her because he thought she could benefit from some cold water too.

As usual her reaction was amusing. She was so entertaining. And of course, very sexy but off limits and it was about time that it sank into his liscenscious brain.

Two days later Yas was sitting in their entertainment area. Neelam was hosting a party. Aarti was leaving for Dehli in a few days and this was the last party they would have. Their parents had gone out for the evening and Yash was the chaperone. He had a date for the evening, but he could not keep his eyes off a certain sexy woman/girl on the dance floor. She didn't let up. She danced the night away. And she danced with just one guy. He hardly paid attention to his date.

"Yashu, when can we leave? I don't want to stay here with these kids."

"Veera, I told you I have to be here the whole night. I am the chaperone and my parents are depending on me for this. Go if you want to go. I can join you later if the party doesn't end too late."

"But Yash, I want to be with you. Why don't you go to your room." she said suggestively, touching his cheek.

"Veera, please. You insisted on being here. I told you what this was, so now you can choose to stay or you can go, but I am not going anywhere with you till this party is over."

"Fine, then I will go. But don't bother to call me again. Good bye."

He looked at her but he was too polite to tell her that he was not the one that always called. So all he said was, "Good bye Veera."

When he looked back he saw that Aarti and her partner were no longer on the dance floor. His heart sank to the pit of his stomache. He too was once an 18/19 year old young man and he exactly what he was up to then.

He flew up from his chair and walked through the dancers in search of her.

Aarti was not having a good time at the party and she felt even worse as Neelam went through so much trouble for her. And Prashant was all over her. He was constantly calling her, wanting to see her and texting her. She thought that was what she wanted. But now, all she could focus on was Yash and that woman that was with him. She was so tall and thin. She looked like a super model. And she was all over him. If that was the type of woman that he was interested in then ... she stopped the thought right there. She was here with her boyfriend. And when she saw her touch his cheek and how intimate it looked, Prashant's suggestion to get some fresh air came at just the right time.

He took her in his arms.

"You look so beautiful tonight babe. I am going to miss you so much."

She forced a smile but did not reply.

"I love you Aarti."

His head came down, and all the while she dreaded his lips on hers but he was her boyfriend and they had kissed many times before, even before her parents said it was ok to date. She was so torn. But now she just couldn't do it. But before she could say anything, Prashant was dragged away from her.

"What do you think you are doing? There will be none of that at my house."

"Sorry sir."

"Get out."

"But..."

"I said get out."

Prashant left like a dog with his tail between his legs.

"How dare you?" She screamed.

"Me? You are out here making out with that ... that ..."

"He's my boyfriend!" she shouted. "And besides you were making out with the lamppost in front of everyone."

"Lamppost? Oh. What do you mean making out?"

"She was all over you."

"Oh, you noticed, I thought you were too busy gyrating with Boyfriend to notice anything else."

"I can multitask. And he has a name.

"Mmm? And I don't care about his name. You are not dating him anymore."

"Really? Since when do I take orders from you, Mr. I have A FEW GIRLFRIENDS."

"You are too young."

"I am almost 19."

"Wow, practically a geriatric."

"Sarcasm? May I remind you that you had your hands all over me the other day?"

"You asked me to." he shrugged.

"You know very well I thought you were Neelam."

"And when you realised I wasn't."

She glared at him angrily.

"I am going home."

He grabbed her hand.

"Wait. You seem to be a bit uncertain about the meaning of making out. Let me demonstrate."

He drew her to him and she moved as if in a trance. This time she had no doubts or thoughts of stopping, it felt like she was waiting forever for this moment. She was swept up as his lips came down on hers. She felt as if she was part of him. She could not stop if she wanted to. Finally he pulled away and looked at her as if in shock.

"That was way better than Prashant's kisses." she said still on a high.

"Aarti, do you always just say what comes to mind."

"Mmm, my fatal flaw."

"Aarti this can never happen again."

"Why?"

"Because, you are still too young. I told you before"

"I don't understand you. You touch me and kiss me. You act like a jealous lover with Prashant and forbid me to see him, and then you say this. Age has nothing to do with maturity, and right now I think I am more mature than you."

"What are you trying to say?"

"I ... I have feelings for you and I would like to pursue it."

"No, I can't."

"Why?"

"Because our relationship will not remain platonic and I won't dishonour your family. We are neighbours for goodness sake. There can't be anything between us. We are worlds apart in life experience. And I am not going to be faithfully waiting for you while you are in Dehli,"

"Fine, then I won't be faithfully saving myself for you while I am in Dehli."

"Aarti!"

"You can't have it both ways, Yash. Leave me alone, I have had enough of this.

"Aarti , if you were a little older ..."

"But I am not. So we will go our separate ways. We will be neighbours only. Good bye, Yashji." she said. She was to sleep over at Neelam's but she went home instead.

He didn't come to the dinner that her parents arranged the evening before she left. But when she woke up the next morning there was a Teddy Bear on her window sill and on his arm it had a charm bracelet with a charm, it was a little palette with a paint brush. She was going to an art school, but she was not yet sure in what she would major. She held the Teddy bear tightly, as the tears spilled over her cheeks. She was crying over something that never was. She looked up, she imagined that she saw a movement but she was not sure, so she just held the Teddy tighter.

"It's only you and I now Teddy Pooh. But we will make it work she said." kissing the teddy on the head.

He hadn't gone to the dinner. It wouldn't have been a good idea. He went on a date but came back early. He waited till he heard his parents come home and went to the balcony and he watched her as she got ready for bed. He felt a deep sense of loss, but he was doing the right thing. As soon as she slept, he jumped off the balcony to deliver her gifts. Again he stood next to her bed and looked at her for a long time. He touched her cheek and she moved her cheek against his hand sighing in her sleep. He kissed her on her forehead and left, giving her one last look as she climbed back out her window.

It seemed he found other places to be when she was home. So for more than 2 years, she didn't see him. She wasn't sure if she was happy or sad about that. Neelam often invited her on family vacations but she always declined, citing that she needed time with her family too. But strangely enough, every time she left home, she find a new charm for her bracelet on her window sill the morning. She even tried to stay awake, but he was like Santa, she never saw him but the gift was there in the morning. She told no one of this, not even Neelam.

Aarti was in Goa with her college friends for a few days before she went home for third term holiday. They were in some mall when one of her friends said.

"Who is that hunk staring at us?"

They all looked up to the second floor.

Her heart leapt and she smiled at him. He smiled back and nodded.

"You know him Aarti."

"He lives next door to us."

"Wow, when can I move in." said her friend, all their eyes following as he made his way down the escalator.

"Hello" he said.

"Hello, how are you?" she said back.

"Good and you?"

"Good"

"Good."

"Do you want to get some lunch?" she asked.

"I can't"

"Ok" she said disappointedly.

"I have a business lunch, but if you don't have anything planned for later, would you mind accompanying me to a function."

"A function?"

"A work function. Very formal. If you want to."

"I don't have anything formal to wear, I am on a beach vacation."

"I will send you something. Give me your address."

"Will you have time?"

"Not much. But my meeting is with a bride and a dress designer, who is a friend of mine. He will sort something out."

"Ok. Thanks then I will go with you."

"See you later then"

"Bye" she waved at him and she saw that he looked at the bracelet and then he looked at her. She smiled and walked away.

He looked at her showing some of the ladies some dance moves. He smiled. Once again he was surprised by her. She looked stunning in the gold sari that he chose for her. It was modern, but it still met the approval of his father's longstanding business associate. Despite her youth she enthralled their companions with her charm and wit.

"Yash, you parents chose well for you. She is the perfect match. Beautiful, charming and intelligent."

"Mrs. Singh, my parents did not ..."

"Oh, it's not an arranged marriage? I should have known. The way you look at her, it is clear that you are in love." she pinched his cheeks like she always did since he was a baby. He looked at Aarti and suddenly he had an epiphany. She was older now, and all the things Mrs. Singh said were true. She would be a perfect match. But he was certainly not in love with her, it was desire, that's all. But the combination of it all should make the marriage workable.

She had one more semester at college and when she came home they could get married. He was sure both sets of parents would approve. In fact they would more than approve, they would be ecstatic. His father had noticed his attraction to her immediately.

"Yash, she is our neighbour's daughter and I really like the Dubey's. She is not one of you conquests. I hope you will honour that."

"Bauji?"

"Come on Yash, I know you too well. No use denying that you find Aarti attractive. That is fine, I just need you to promise me that you will never act on it unless you intend to marry her.

"Bauji, I know my limits. Besides she is too young for me."

"Mmm, please remember that."

"Yes, bauji."

But he was battling to keep his promise. Whenever she was around him it was as if he lost his senses. And he found himself doing crazy things like sneaking into her room at night and watching her, and of course he tried to stay away from her most of the time. Well when she was awake anyway. He was surprised to see her in Goa. He normally knew of her whereabouts through Neelam. But now he was glad that he ran into her.

Aarti had been nervous since she had seen him that afternoon. She had not expected a sari, but it was lovely. If she had to choose, she would have chosen this. She had not expected the jewellery that came with it. She took special care with her hair and makeup. He had prepared her for their companions, but they were nice people and she enjoyed their company. She loved the way he addressed them with authority although he was much younger and she could see that he was well respected.

She was showing some modern dance moves to some of the ladies when one said.

"You are so lucky. So many girls were after Yash. And I can see you are just the right girl for him. When is the wedding?"

"Ma'am we are not ..."

"Oh, you don't have a date yet. You should get your parents to settle it fast. You don't want someone else to snap up that hunk." The lady chuckled and Aarti couldn't help but smile back. If only she thought.

They drove to the guest house that she was staying with her friends. He accompanied inside. No one was there as they had all gone out. Up until that point they hadn't said anything.

"I have never had a chance to thank you."

"For what?"

"For my Teddy Pooh, the bracelet and the charms. I love them all."

She moved to kiss him on the cheek. But he swung his face so that her lips met his. The platonic kiss soon turned into a heated, passionate kiss. And before they knew they found themselves in bed, naked. If Yash has a semblance of reservation it dissolved by her words just before their joining.

"Yash, please. Please make love to me. I want you."

He gave into the need that he had denied to her and himself for almost 3 years. She was still innocent as he knew she would be and he tried as best he could to make a painful experience pleasurable. And by her actions and expression it was clear that she too experienced the pleasure that he was. He would not have been able to describe it. this felt different to all his other sexual encounters. And his need to pleasure her superseded his need for his.

But afterwards he came to his senses. He had broken the promise to his father. He had dishonoured her. She was innocent, his sister's best friend and the neighbour's daughter. Neighbours that his family had gotten particularly close to over the past 3 years that they lived in Mumbai. His father would probably disown him if he found out.

He got up, disgusted with his lack of self-control.

"Aarti, I am sorry. This was never my intention. I should not have done this."

"Yash, I ..."

"The only thing we can do now is get married. I will go home and speak to our parents. I will fix this."

"You will do no such thing, Yash Scindiya. I will not marry you."

"What?"

"Are you deaf? I said I will not marry you."

"After what just happened..."

"We are not the first people that have ... have indulged. It's not a big thing. And I don't need you to sacrifice yourself for my perceived virtue. "

"And what if you are pregnant."

"We will cross that bridge when we come to it."

"I made Bauji a promise and I broke it."

"I promised that I will stay away from you."

"Why would he ask you that?"

"Because of my reputation with women. But I did promise him and I broke it. And now I have to make it right."

"You don't have to do any such thing. I will not marry you. End of discussion. And now you have to go before my friends come back. I think I have suffered enough embarrassment for the night."

"Aarti ..."

"Go, just go please."

He picked up his jacket and keys and left.

She had let him know a month later that she was not pregnant. Now they were all at her house again, celebrating her final return from college. She was avoiding him like the plague as he knew she would. He had played x-box with the twins before dinner but his attention was never far from her as she helped her mother prepare dinner.

Finally after dinner, they were sitting in the lounge having some tea and coffee when his father spoke.

"Vheer, we have a proposition for you."

"Yes?"

"We would like to ask for Aarti's hand in marriage to Yash."

"Really, SJ? And Yash agrees to this?" Said her mother excitedly.

"He is the one that suggested it."

"Princess Pea, what do you say?"

"Aarti was shocked and angry. She felt blindsided by him.

"No."

"No?" he parents said together.

"I mean I can't. I am in love with someone else."

"Who?" Yash asked.

"Prashant." she said he first name that came to mind.

"But Aaru you haven't even seen him in more than a year." said Neelam.

"Um, I have never stopped loving him"

"You never told me that."

"Can I please speak to Aarti outside?"

Her parents nodded.

"No," she said again. But he took her by her arm and pulled her along with him outside to the garden.

"Prasant, hey? Who do you think you are fooling? We are getting married Aarti, no matter what you say.

"We are not."

"We are too."

"Not"

"Too" shall we go on? We sound just like my munchkins" He was referring to the 4 year old Vendant and 6 year old Vedhika.

"No one even needs to know what happened in Goa."

"We know."

"Yes, and I wish I could forget. I will not marry you Yash Scindiya. Not now, not ever."

"You will and you will do it quite soon too."

"Never."she started walking back.

He walked behind her and took her by the arms not turning her around.

"We will get married. After I tell our parents what happened in Goa, our parents we will definitely get married." his words belied the sensuous tone of his voice. He heart was doing somersaults again.

By the time she came back to her senses he was already inside the house.

"Neelam, please take the children inside."

She nodded and left. Aati couldn't believe that he was going to do this. She knew his parents well by now and she knew the repercussions would be worse for him than for her. His parents were very loving but they had very high expectations from him.

"Ma, bauji. Aarti and I ..."

"We have decided to get married." she interjected. They all looked at her.

"Peasy are you sure about this?" he mom asked.

"Yes, mom. Very sure."

"And Prashant?"

"I ... I lied. I was just in shock."

"Yash, are you forcing this girl to do anything against her will."

He laughed. "Can anyone force her to do anything she doesn't want to?'

"SJ, Yash is right. Aarti has the strongest will of anyone I know. If she says yes to this marriage, I am happy to agree too."

"Great." said his father. Soon there was congratulations all around and plans were being made for the engagement.

Aarti was finally alone in her bedroom. She was holding onto Teddy Pooh and crying. She felt like her life was spiralling out of control. Then she heard something at her window. She jumped off her bed and ran to the window. She threw him with the Teddy and closed the window. He knocked.

"Let me in."

"No. Go away. I hate you."

"Fine, then I will go ring the doorbell." and he started walking.

She opened the window.

"Yash, no. Yash..." but her was gone.

She started running again. This time out of her bedroom to the front door, nearly colliding with her mother.

"Aarti? Where are you off too in such a hurry?"

"I ... I need fresh air."

"Ok'

She walked briskly to the door.

"Aarti!"

"Yes, mom."

"I said I love you my Peasy?" he mom looked at her worriedly.

"I love you too, Mrs. D-sy." she said distractedly.

She opened the door just as he was about to ring the doorbell.

"What do you want?!"

"You." he said simply.

"I agreed to marry you, now leave me alone."

"What was it you said earlier? Never."

She was so frustrated with him that she just vented. She kicked him in the shin.

"Aah" he screamed. "You kicked me!" he said in disbelief."

"Aarti?" came her mother's voice.

She pushed him over and he fell into the shrubs.

"Yes, Mom."

"I heard a scream." Her mom said coming out the door.

"No Mom, it was probably the TV,"

"No, I am sure I heard a scream."

"I would have heard it too. I am right here."

"Baby, are you ok. You seem different since you came back home. You would tell your Mrs. D-sy if you are in trouble won't you?"

"Of course."

"Ok." she kissed her on her cheek.

"Mom." she said as he mom was on her way back inside.

"Yes."

"Thank you. I do really love you, Mrs. D-sy."

Her mom blew her a kiss and went inside.

Aarti had tears in her eyes. She felt like she was breaking her parents trust on so many levels. She had never lied to them before.

"Aarti" he groaned "I can't get up. I think I sprained my ankle or something."

"Oh, I am sorry. I am so sorry."

"Just help me up. Give me your hand."

She stretched out her hand, but instead of him trying to lift himself, he pulled her down. She fell on top of him and he started kissing her immediately.

"Aah, much better. By the way, you threw me with sunblock, kicked me, pushed me over, I mean really, I am afraid of you. Tell me, will I be a battered husband after we are married. "

"Yes, if you keep annoying me like this."

"So we are getting married then."

"Do I have a choice?"

"I promise you won't regret the marriage."

She got up.

"What did you want Yash. Why did you come here?"

"I wanted to tell you that this is good match. Our parents are happy with it. In fact our whole family. Everything fits, as well as the physical attraction. I don't understand your opposition to it."

"No you won't understand. It's late. I want to get to bed."

"Ok. Good night Aarti."

"Aarti"

She looked back. He held out her Teddy.

"I hope to replace him soon."

She took the Teddy and went back inside.

"Aarti I have had enough of this." he said as he stopped the car in front of their house.
He was tired of her being the life of the party and when they were alone she was sullen and unresponsive.

"What?"

"Your attitude towards me. A few moment ago at the party you were dancing and laughing and now?"

"Now what."

"Now you are miserable and moody,"

"I should be happy that I am forced into marriage. And everyone that knows you tells me how lucky I am to get you. You are wealthy, handsome, successful and what am I. I am the one you settled for because on paper we are a good match. Yes, I should be ecstatic."

"You still feel forced?"

"Good night, Yash." she said as she got out of the car.

He got out too.

"Do you want to break off the engagement?"

"I didn't want it to begin with."

"Fine then. Consider the engagement off."

She was shocked.

"That;s what you want? And our parents?" she asked.

"I will explain."

Her heart broke because she wanted to marry him more than anything, but not under these circumstances. She wanted to be wanted by him not because she was a good match but because he wanted her as much she wanted him. Because he loved her as she loved him.

"Fine then." she took off the engagement ring and held to him.

"I have no need of that."

"I can't keep it."

He took it and flung it into their garden.

"Yash, how could you do that?"

He didn't bother to answer as he went to his car and sped off. He drove past their driveway and in a ferocious speed. He left her sobbing. she ran in the direction in which he had flung the ring. She looked for it in state of panic. But she didn't find it. She eventually went inside and went to lay on her bed and sobbed.

He had gone to a pub and ordered a drink. He ended paying for the untouched drink and leaving. He stood on the balcony, her light was still on. And as usual he could not resist the compulsion to go to her. He was hurt by her attitude towards him. He didn't want her to feel forced, he wanted her to willing be his. He wanted to make her happy. He wanted to see her laugh and smile at him like she did for her family. She would laugh and play with them the twins like she was their age and her laughter could be heard even to his room. When she and Neelam were discussing their girly things, she would hear her giggling but for him there was not even a hint of a smile unless there were people around. He could see her lying on her bed clutching the Teddy and her body convulsing in sobs.

He climbed through her window and she was up like a bolt and jumped in his arms. He held her tightly, kissing the top of her head.

"Why the tears, I thought you would be happy now."

You broke up with me. How can I be happy?"

"What?" She confused him no end."

"Aarti, what is it you want? I promise I will do it. I just want you to be happy."

"You threw my ring away?'

"Aarti, do you want to marry me." He said still holding on her her, his neck was wet from her tears and snot. She was still sniffing.

"Yes, but no."

"Ok, that clears it all up" he said sarcastically.

"Marrying me is just your way of making up to your father for the promise you broke. Had it been anyone else in Goa, then you would have not felt obligated to marry her."

Finally he pulled her off him and lifted her chin to look at him.

"Aarti, had it been anyone else in Goa, I would not have lost my senses so completely. That has never happened to me before. I have never felt like that before. I had never just given in to my desire so completely, giving no heed to protection or the promise I made to me father. You are the end of me, I can't control myself around you. I tried to stay away, but finally I couldn't anymore. I can't be without you anymore Aarti. I have never felt like this before, so I am not sure but I think I could be in love with you."

"You think? Ok, I suppose that's close enough. Now come let's go." She was busy climbing out the window.

"What, where are we going."

"You have to help me find the ring."

"Now? I will get you another. If you agree to go ahead with the wedding."

"Of, course I do. And I don't think, I know I love you. And I want that one. Now let's go."

He shook his head and followed after her.

An hour later they were lying in her bed. He was holding her as she was crying again as they couldn't find the ring.

"I know now that I must love you because why else would I go and look for a ring in a garden in the dead of night. Now stop crying baby, I will get all the workers to come and look for it in the morning."

"And if we don't find it."

"I will have one made, the exact same one. I have a very good jeweller. He is used to odd requests from me."

"The charms?"

"Yes." this made

That made her smile at least."

"I have always wondered what they all stand for."

"Well the Teddy Bear, is you choice of sleeping companions, until we are married of course, the palette was because of your passion for art, the ballet slippers are because you love to dance and do it so well, you know why the graduation hat, the pea you know, and the crown is because you are the princess pea. The ones for your birthdays are obviously for your age, those are more special as they are diamond encrusted, the angel is for how you look when I when I watch you sleep at night."

"She snuggled up to him. I love them all and I love you. You will find my ring won't you."

"I will find your ring even if I have to tear up your parent's whole garden. Are you happy now?"

"Very happy. I love you."

"I love you too. Now I must go before we get into trouble."

"Must you?" she said holding him tighter.

"Yes my love, we will be together soon enough. I can't wait either, but this time I will be strong."

"You can only be strong if I allow you to be." she said starting to kiss him in the neck."

"Aah, baby. You are so right. A grown man at the mercy of a chit of a girl."

"I am not a girl, I am a woman and you made me so." she whispered in his ear, lying on top of him. "I love you and I want to make love to you. Now."

As usual he lost all his senses and only snuck out of her room when the sun was just starting to come up. With her giving him a last kiss at the window.

It was the night before the wedding, it was decided that the wedding would be at SM. She was so excited, But she missed his nightly visits. Both their homes were full to capacity with family coming to the wedding. It was the first night that she was on her own in two weeks. And it would be the last night in this room, she thought happily. Suddenly, there was a movement at the window and she rushed to him again holding and kissing him.

"Aarti" she heard her mother's voice outside as she knocked and Yash jumped out of the window, just in time.

"I am just checking on my Peasy. I am going to miss you so much."

"Mom, I am moving next door."

"But still."

"You are happy right, sweetheart."

"I am, Mom. I love him and he loves me."

"Yes, I can tell."

"I love you so much. My blessings and prayers will always be with you."

"Thank you, Mom. I love you too, so much."

"Good night, Peasy."

"Good night, Mrs. D-sy" they hugged and kissed.

She was nearly out the door when she said.

"Oh I almost forgot something."

"What."

"Good night, Yash" she shouted.

"Good night, Mom" he shouted back from outside.

Aarti's cheeks were bright red.

"Not too late you hear, you have a long day ahead of you tomorrow."

"Yes, mom." they both said.

She left.

"Yash came back through the window.

The both laughed.

"My mom knows everything."

Apparently so."

"Luckily she loves you"

"And I love her and the rest of your family."

"Yes, I will have to put a stop to you spoiling those two monkeys as well."

"Oh no. I have a plan you see, when they are old enough and we need some "private time" they will not be able to refuse to babysit."

"Mmm, clever."

"You are really happy aren't, you baby. You still want to go through with this?"

"Why do you have second thoughts?"

"I love you and want you with me for the rest of my life."

"Ditto for me. I will never let you go again." They shared a long and lingering kiss.

"Good night, darling. I see you tomorrow my bride."

"I can't wait. I love you."

"Love you too." he gave her a quick kiss and left the way he came.

That following morning she woke up early. Next to her on the pillow was a single red rose and a gift box and noted saying "I love you." Inside was a charm with two rings intertwined. The one was a solitaire with a real diamond she was sure and a band. She sent him a message, thank you, I love you too."

6 MONTHS LATER

"Kamla, where is my wife."

"She left early sir." Aarti was now working for the company as well.

"Do you know where she went?"

"She didn't say."

"Thank you."

He called her immediately.

"Where are you?"

"At the shops. And then home. Make sure you don't come home late, I have a surprise for you.'

"What?"

"If I told you it wouldn't be surprise would it. Now go to your meeting and then come home immediately after."

"How do you know I have a meeting?"

"I make it my business to know everything about you my love. Now do as I say."

"As always. Good bye, love." he chuckled.

There was no one at home, not even the servants. Both his family and in-laws were in Bhopal for Neelams wedding. They would leave the following day. There was a note on the bed.

"Come to the balcony." But there was nothing. Again he called her.

"Aarti where are you?" he said now exasperated by her.

"In my room" she said and he saw the curtains opening. She looked up at him with an adoring smile. She looked beautiful in the sari that he gave her in Goa. But the top was different. This one just covered her breasts and had spaghetti straps. Her hair was loose and blowing in the wind.

She started a dance sequence. Even more sensual than the first one he had seen from this very spot. He couldn't move, he was so in awe of his beautiful wife.

When she was done she made a "come hither" gesture with her finger.

He jumped off the balcony and hurriedly made his way to her. There was a picnic meal on the window seat.

"And this Mrs. Scindiya?"

"I am trying to romance my husband."

"Is there a sequence to you romancing?"

"What?

"Does things have to happen in a certain order."

"No why?"

"Because I am so much hungrier for you than for food."

He grabbed her and threw her on the bed, making her giggle.

"Why do you think I prepared a cold meal?"

"A woman after my own heart."

"You only want to use my body"

"Are you complaining?"

"Yes, you are taking too long"

He chuckled and gave into his wife's demands.

Much later they were sitting on the window seat, naked, feeding each other.

"Happy 6 month anniversary my love." she said.

"Already."

"Yes, already."

"But I have no gift for you."

"You gave me a gift earlier and you mine forever, what more do I need"

He stretched out his hand to the outside of the windowsill and a gift box miraculously appeared.

"How didn't I see that?'

"Because you only have eyes for your handsome husband."

She opened it. It was a charm of heart shaped lock. Y loves A encrusted on the lock. This one was bigger than the others.

"Happy anniversary my love. I love you more than my life."

"And I you. And I will never forget the first day I saw you through this window."

"Yes, you looked terrible."

She slapped his arm.

"Rudey"

"But the next time I saw you, wow. You were dancing and performing in that skimpy little outfit. You can be glad I didn't ravage you right then."

"And you called me peeping Tom?' she giggled.

"I can't believe that it took me so long to realise that I loved you."

"I can't either. But I love you, even if you a bit slow on the uptake."

He grabbed her to him, food falling on the floor.

"You beat me, you insult, how I could even have thought you wanted to marry me."

"You only saw my age and you silly promise to bauji."

"Bauji knows me and he was right. I couldn't resist you could I?"

"No you couldn't. But you are slow on the uptake. Here we are, one of the rare occasions that we are alone and you are arguing with me when we have so much better things to do."

"Is that so?"

"Mmm."

He lifter her and placed her on his erect manhood, making her gasp.

"Better?"

"Much" she breathed.

Through this window they found their love and their future. They discovered that nothing can separate you from love, not age, or stubbornness, nor misread promises. They were joined to each other and they had joined two happy families together for life. The once take charge, surly Yash, now happily gave in to his stubborn wife's every demand He was amazed every day by her maturity despite her age, as well as her talent and drive in the workplace. She was a pleasure to work with and the staff loved and respected her. The office had become a happier place since she joined. His family doted on her and of course she still had her girl talks with Neelam that she would miss now that she was getting married to her sweetheart Kunal.

She was his parent's ideal bahu and it was as if she was always part of their lives. She gave him a second set of wonderful parents and two demanding and lovable monkeys that could twist their Jiju around their little fingers and got him into trouble with his strict wife. But it just made the marriage more interesting.

The 6 months had been very interesting and he was sure that the rest of his life with her would be the same. She was not the easiest person to live with but he would and could not live without her. And he knew the same was true for her. He knew as she did that when they have children in a few years, that the other would be a great parents. It was evident in their interaction with the twins as well as Vedhika and Vendant. They loved each other fiercely, with an all-consuming passion that was fed on a constant basis by each other. Their lives were full and complete, by their careers, their family, friends and most of all each other.

I don't think there are words to describe this beautiful piece but I will try it was sooo romantic and just tooo cute for words!

So Yash saw a strange creature ogling him through window and his very first reaction was that it shouldn't become a problem. Yet she did become one, not because of her but because of his potent attraction towards her. He stood no chance from the moment she held him enthralled without being conscious of it. She was just being a girl having a silly moment in her room but her innocent moves caused a very different reaction.

Here is where I love the title even more. A window resembles possibilities; it gives you a glimpse of what could be and this is exactly what happened here. That possibility beckoned Yash to act out of character and to come to it. Of course he had to be our ever adorable and frustrating tubelight, taking forever to admit it was love he felt.

Coming to my favorite part, the charms honestly he didn't think he was in love when he put so much thought into that gift? It was symbolic of how she charmed him, the jewels were a physical manifestation of that.

To be fair, his father put him in a corner. He had to fight against what he felt because he did not want to ruin relationships, that's very telling of his character. Only trouble is that it send the wrong message to Aarti. The one moment so precious for any girl was marred by his outburst. She felt rejected because she felt more than that moment, he valued his promise to his father.

And he had no clue why she opposed the marriage? She may have been younger than him but emotionally she was miles ahead. She knew what she wanted and she had no qualms about letting it known. She missed him and realized he was avoiding her but his gifts kept hope alive in her heart. Both couldn't control the need to give into what they'd wanted from the moment they saw each other through the window. Finally after a very hilarious series of events tubelight realized that he too had always been in love.

I also loved Aarti's relationship with her mother. I especially loved their pet names for each other. Also, as a mother she knew her daughter's heart without her having to say anything. She realized they needed to grow and come to a place where they can see and accept each other for what they were: soulmates. Still it was funny how she let them realize so simply and effectively that they didn't fool her.

Finally everything came full circle. Having first enticed her now husband through the window without her knowledge, now she set out to seduce him consciously. Now she was reaffirming that all the possibilities he saw back then were now his reality, that he had full freedom to come through that window and enjoy to his heart's delight. Ever the romantic, he too did not forget to celebrate their first milestone with his signature gift, a charm for his charm.

They are together for life with the blessing of their family. Their love has no sign of abating, instead growing deeper with each passing day.

Yes now you can be sure that I absolutely loved my gift! Thaaankuuu Honey-Bee aka lazy Bee 😆

P.S. You did it in one shot, congratulations!

Okay here I am with my comment. Don't know what I'll end up writing as its way past my bedtime and I've started to feel sleepy. But I had to comment before I went to sleep.

So Mr. Oldie (I guess that's what he is since he kept mentioning it like a trillion, zillions times 🤔). So he saw what looked like a Strange creature in the Window across his own Window. Strangely this Strange Creature was looking at him, rather ogling at him. I'm pretty sure he must've felt the attraction in that very moment or else why would he have wasted his time looking back at her? 🤔. Why would he look in that direction the very next night. And watch her dance and all and why would he jump through the Window and take a closer look and cover her up and all? 🤔
Yes he was attracted to her. 🤪

BUT...

She was young. According to Mr. Oldie, Aarti was the youngest girl in the world 😆. I wish at one point Aarti too should have called him Mr. Oldie 😆

Boy! This Aarti is so fierce and so Not scared of him and her feelings for him. I love this Aarti. 😳.
Their first kiss left him all shocked, while she was not shy or afraid to admit that it was the best kiss.

She went away to finish her studies. Whenever she returned home, he maintained his distance yet he couldn't stop himself from keeping those lucky charms at her window sill during each of her visits. It means he was keeping a track and an eye on her.

What his father could see, he kept ignoring it. Why? Well, because he is Mr. Oldie! How can he go after a small baby like Aarti? 🤪
So he promised his father that he won't take advantage of small baby.

Only the baby was all grown up and had turned into a more gorgeous and more confident woman. She initiated and they gave into temptation. Only for him to realize that he had broken his promise to his father.

So now Mr. Oldie must do what's best in this situation. Go to her place, along with his family, to propose marriage.

Only this confused Aarti. All she wanted from him was to acknowledge and admit his feelings for her. But Mr. Old and Tube-Light was confused at her behavior. So much so that he broke off the engagement and threw the ring in the garden to set her free, thinking this is what she wanted. If only he could see what she really wanted was his confession.

The breaking of the engagement is what Finally Lit his Tube-Light and he Climbed through the Window and professed and confessed his love.

One good thing is that Aarti made him search for that ring. It was the best punishment for him 👏. 😆

Bee, I genuinely loved this OS. Thanks for it 🤗

Since I'm feeling sleepy I'll go now. I'll be back to write couple of more things (when I get time) and Make my DEMAND also 😉.
Till then enjoy the stress free time, cause once I make My Demand I won't let you rest in peace till you fulfill it 😈

So see you soon 😃

Spectacular! The story is just too good! Aarti is my favourite. A confused chatter box who could neither control her emotions nor tongue. Yash, always the lovely specimen. The family's support is so awww (no words). Thank God for the absence of an Arpita. They are so annoying. Masterpiece indeed!

So it's Forbidden love this time, well sort of.

🤣 what a start , I could just imagine the moment with her the rolls and face mask and old caftan, priceless.
Yash a suceessful confident, experienced ladies man, used to get his way suddenly find himself smitten by a very young girl, who has yet to experience life. The spontaneous action of going to her room was so unexpected. Its a good think that she sleep like a log and profoundly cause had she woke up , who knows what would have happened. Its so funny how he keep deflecting his attraction by putting Aarti on the spot at the swimming pool, could just imagine Neelam face if she had caught them, at the party. Their song and dance around each other was fun to watch. And Mom not being fooled was priceless 😆

They both couldn't help but be attracted to one another. Ironically its Yash that was struggling more. He refuses to acknowledge his real feelings, whereas Aarti , young as she may be, knows her heart and would have immediately explore the relationship despite de age gap. I really like that she wasn't shy and knew her mind and clueless Yash 😆, finally got there eventually, understanding that she just needed him to say the words. He is a romantic that didn't know he was 😛.

Great story.
