"Is -is he okay?" she enquired while signing the form. Priyanka realised the water from her hand had wetted the edge of the form. "Sorry," she said, indicating the paper.
"No problem ma'am", the nurse smiled at Priyanka.
"That bullet was a close call. Inches away from the heart" the nurse explained while Priyanka listened to her with her eyes widened.
"Well, he is a police man. This shouldn't be a big deal for him. Once the doctor checks him, he is good to go" she concluded.
Priyanka paced her way to the sitting area, her head suddenly dizzy. Close call. He could have been dead because of me. She couldn't just keep on doing this. At first Om bhaiya, and now ACP Randhawa. She felt like she was bringing an array of misfortunes with her, and she had to stop it. She carted danger with herself and she realised anyone who tries to be around her at this time ends up under the same cloud of danger.
"Miss Oberoi."
Her chain of thoughts broke as she heard him call out for her. There was a white bandage around his left arm and a blotch of blood on it. He held his leather jacket in his other hand and was wearing the same shirt bloodied shirt.
"W-why are you here" she enquired, surprised by his antics. "P-please, you sho-should be resting."
ACP Randhawa chuckled.
"The doctor completed his round. I'm good to go now" he replied. "And this", he continued, pointing at his wound. "Is not a big deal. Its very usual, Miss Oberoi. There's nothing to worry about. Now if you don't want to get further late, lets leave."
"No" Priyanka retorted.
ACP Randhawa looked at her with narrowed eyes.
"I can't keep d-doing this" she continued, standing up from her seat. "I can't -keep causing such troubles, Mr. Randhawa."
"What are you talking about?" ACP walked closer to her.
"This" Priyanka pointed at his injury. "This. I'm -talking about this. You c-could have died because of me. I cannot keep doing this."
ACP Randhawa kept looking at her in awe. Is she being serious right now. Is she. He ignored her musings and held his stance.
"Miss Oberoi, do you seriously want to spend the night in a hospital? Haven't you watched horror movies?" Randhawa spoke with a certain resilience in his voice, hoping she'd listen. "There's a bus stand around the corner. Lets go."
"Y-you should go" she continued, discounting his efforts. "I'll m-manage alone."
