The Crash Part I

As the headlights of the SUV approached and shone brighter,

Priyanka closed her eyes and prayed while she held on tightly, preparing herself for the worst. A loud scream escaped her lips. "RANVEER!" She could feel the car spin, rounds and rounds, before they actually came to a still stand. The smell of burning tires overwhelmed her. Out of breath and in tears, she opened up her eyes to check on what had happened.

Ranveer had reacted on pure instinct and techniques, which he had excelled in during his training. He had managed to avoid the crash by diverting the car to the left at the very last moment, leaving the SUV no time or space to react.

"Priyanka?! Are you ok?" The adrenaline was noticeable in his voice and face. He looked at her briefly, but with genuine concern. He had to stay focussed. These guys would be back for sure!

"Yes.. You?" She spoke clearly but could not find more words, for which, it appeared, was no time.

"Don't worry about me.. Just hold on tightly!" he said, while trying to restart the car without success. In the rear mirror he could see their taillights, signaling the SUV brakes being used. It would not take them very long to turn around.

"COME ON! DAMMIT! START!"

Ranveer was not able to get the car started again, leaving him frustrated. He had no choice than to prepare Priyanka for the crash.

"Priyanka.. Looked at me.. Listen, I need you to do exactly as I tell you to do.. They will crash into us with full force, pushing us forward. You just need to hang in there. I will take care of the rest. Ok?"

She nodded. His voice was calm and in control. There was no doubt in her mind. She trusted him in this very moment and she would follow him without any hesitations.

He gave her the instructions to get exactly in the position to protect herself as much as possible. Ranveer had a plan. Hopefully, it would work. He had shifted into second gear. As the SUV approached he warned Priyanka.

The Crash Part II

The crash happened just like Ranveer explained to her, with immense force, pushing the jeep forward. Out of reflex to protect her, he had put his arm in front of Priyanka.

Ranveer made sure to keep the steering wheel straight, trying to avoid not to crash into trees or other objects. As soon as he thought they had made enough speed, he jump started the car, this time with success! "Woo-hoo YES!" He screamed out.

He hit on the gas pedal to get a head start. Without any hesitation, he turned the car around. But this time, he was prepared and in control. He pulled out his gun! He would end this, right here and right now.

Priyanka panicked. A gun? She prayed again in silence. Oh dear God, please let nothing happen to us? Please..'

Ranveer fired the first shot, at their tires. The gunshots back and forth sounded like a harsh threatening thunder. The front shield got damaged, scaring Priyanka even more. But she remained quiet.

"OUCH!" Ranveer exclaimed.

"RANVEER!" Priyanka wanted to reach out to him, but the movement of the jeep did not allow her to do so.

"I am ok! It's nothing!" he said as he fired again, now wounding the driver. The SUV crashed into a tree with full force.

Ranveer ran over to the car to see if both were still alive and if he could get information out of them. But unfortunately, they did not survive. Ranveer quickly investigated the car for proof, took their phones and guns, and wrote down the license plate. He needed to find out who had sent them.

He called Shinde to find more details and send the local police to clean up the mess. As he walked back to the car, and put his phone in his pocket, he felt thick sticky drops on his arms. He looked down and noticed a big wet red spot on his shirt, which seemed to be growing wider and wider.

Priyanka ran towards him. "Ranveer! Blood!"

He thought to have seen concern for him reflected in her eyes.

A smile appeared on his face.

"I told you.. I would not let anything happen to you.."
