Half man-half woman. This was the image that came to my mind with Vividha's words yesterday: "Our love is such that we may seem like two, but we are ONE."
In terms of religious analogies, this show has never disappointed me, whether it's Atharv's Jatadhaari (Shiv Tandav) bg or Vivi's Kali one.
It hardly matters to me how the Vitharv equation is viewed because I refuse to label it and ViTharv themselves have complete clarity regarding it. To me, that is more than enough.
So what difference does it make how the world sees them? What difference does it make what they are called?
All close relationships are multi-faceted and take many forms. In another show about a mother-daughter, which I occasionally watch, there is one scene where the mother is very upset about something and the daughter is singing her a lullaby. In that moment, if you disregarded their physical appearance, it would have been impossible to tell which one was the mother and which one the daughter.
When you are angry or sad, you forget your age and throw tantrums like a child. And the people who love you unconditionally (whether those are your parents/siblings/spouse/children/friends) ignore your childish behavior and console you anyway. When they are upset, you do the same for them.
THAT is the power of love. It is intimate and personal and non-judgmental. When love doesn't come with any labels, then why are we humans so hellbent on packing it away in little labeled boxes? How unfortunate that we keep missing out on the beauty of unconditional love simply because we refuse to give up our labels.
If the love is pure and the intent selfless, then the divinity of such love will shine through anyway, regardless of circumstances..
Just look at ViTharv..
Imagine being forced to eat something you dislike/hate/can't stand. Now multiply that dislike by a million. I'm certain that even then, we would never be able to understand the pain of being forced to marry against your will.
Yet Vividha, my brave brave girl, she didn't blink once before allowing this indignity to be brought upon herself for the sake of her love. If that is not selfless devotion, I don't know what is.
Even a slight cold or a little fever makes us so frustrated and irritable with everyone and everything. And here is a man who was beaten to an inch of his life. Whose brain is still so severely damaged that he cannot even recognize himself.
Yet Atharv, the strong-willed man, recognizes his Vividha even in such a state. Because he made a promise to return and he always keeps his promises. If that is not selfless devotion, I don't know what is.
And just look at destiny. Their devotion to each other is so absolute, that even destiny has surrendered. Despite all odds, they are in the same house, they are still living life together.
Who cares what their relationship status is? Both of them have always wanted only one thing. Only one dream. A life of togetherness. Every moment with each other. Bin kaate wali ghadi. Well, guess what, even time has given up now. All their moments are for each other. About each other. In thought, word, or deed.
So put aside people's judgment. These opinions are subjective.
Love is the only absolute truth. A truth that cannot be altered by anyone's opinion.
