gold is big investment system in india each year dhanteras even people who don't have heavy salaries spend some savings on gold ,its in practice not only in one religion but other also ,

I think its for undocumented gold, for men its 100 gm and for married women its 500 gm

Right now 100 gm roughly translate into 3 lakh and 500 gm is 15 lakh. Avg buyer buys less then 5 gm gold on dhanteras, so I think government has given enough room for everyone.

Middle class and lower middle class will have no problem, its the rich who will be screwed up.
