But for Sona, Dev would have been on deathbed. According to the doctor who said showering in cold water did the trick of bringing down the fever.

I experience fever in that range but I take crocin or get admitted to hospitals where they never give cold baths to bring down the fever.

Hope people dont practise what was shown on tv without taking their doctor's advice.

Sona was not there when Dev was growing up and it was Eashwari who tended him through illnesses and fevers in her own way. According to the above logic, Dev must have been dead during one of those treatments given by Eshwari. Because her methods were dangerous and wrong.

How come Dev is still alive?😆

I am a doctor and cold packs are the first line of management usually.
No doctor prescribes medicine first.. its tepid sponging or icepacks that r used for fever due to weather changes or something like that as in this caseEur crocin would not work
And fyi no one runs a temp of 104 by eating 1 spoon or. 1 cup of icecream.. the writer has used too much of creative liberty which is not appreciable.

Actually in some medicine based American shows they actuslly immerse the patient in a tub filled with water and ice when the fever is not coming down with medicines or is shooting up with in a few minutes. This basically preserves the organs and brain function by cooling the body down...

This extreme method is not required for all fevers but if you see that fever is not coming down inspite of cold strips on forehead or even after taking antipyretics then they suggest this method to make sure brain and organs dont over heat and cause irreversible damage..
Not everytime one gets fever this may happen . May be in the past ishwaris techniques worked or sidnt cause damage as it was not a severe case. In the latest case we saw that they showed fever came down after medicines and then again shot up with in few minutes, at this time gicing cold/luke warm shower helps cool down the whole body and make sure one doesnt get dehydrated/cause organ failure/slipped into coma..

Again not everytime a person gets this high fever slips into coma or have prgan failur ... But if the body is not cooled down there is a chance that one may slip into coma

Even if one takes medicine it takes some time for it to work in the meantime it is advisable that one gets cold strips on forehead or sponge bath or shower to cool body down

agree. people shouldnt blindly practice whats shown on TV without learning about it.

but here, the point is not what Ishwari did when her kids were babies. lot of babies and adults die in India from high fever cause people dont know proper treatment. what works for common cold or mild fever, doesnt work for high temps! its not Ishwari's fault that she is ganwaar, its her stubbornness.. how she handled this situation by not listening to the dr in the family who was also trying her best to help Dev. ishwari was acting like a madwoman and as always.. thinks she is the only one who knowsitall. bilitteling and verbally abusing sonakshi was not helping. and then after dr told her in this situation what sonakshi did was correct.. she took it on her ego. instead of being thankful. real mother would be full of gratutude that her son got well without things getting crazy!

BTW...she only raised one child.. dev. others just grew up. and Neha raised the little two 😆

going by Ishwari's logic.. munna got 104 fever from eating ice cream 😆 it was a viral! so, yes she is a clueless mother who only raised one child in a bubble 😉

Logically speaking, if Ishwari has been taking care of Dev when he has fever all these years using the same methods and he has recovered every time, then it is stupid to show that these methods are suddenly not working. This just shows that it was another case of manufactured drama to pit MIL against DIL. If she has bundled him up in blankets all these years and his fever still reduced, then how come it suddenly becomes dangerous? (Its a different matter that bundling up a person during fever isnt recommended. Cool light cotton clothes and a light sheet to cover are recommended.) But the point here is that Ish has been doing it for years presumably for all the kids.

I dont know abt cold shower/bath but for kids my pediatrician tells me when fever is very high, making the child sit in a tub of tepid water immediately brings down the fever. I have done this for my child and it is effective.

there are many reasons for fever.. different viruses today. what worked 20 years agao mightnot be the right treatment today. all sicknesses dont have one cure fits all!

Every doctor uses his or her own method. I have been treated by many doctors in the course of my life for high temperatures, minor operations, infections etc. but none of them asked me to take cold water bath or even kept ice packs on my head. They mostly gave injections and medicines and some sort of light diet.

Doctors disagree most of the time on diagnosis and treatment and thats why patients take second or third opinion.
