Forced marraige track - like ipkknd

Instead of all this horror of threatening, intimidation, threats to kill kid brother, chasing in cars, boots in face etc etc, they could have shown Shivaay making a "Business deal" with Annika. He will get her the brother's custody, make sure the aunt leaves them alone (pay her off). Ensure Sahil the top education money can buy, and in exchange, she has to marry him for X amount of months. Save his family honor and pretend like they are star-crossed lovers. But privately their marriage is a deal, for both of them.

I would have been much more impressed if they had done that. A relationship of equals. But for that the show needs to be produced by an adult, not a juvenile teenager living in a Harlequin novel. They could have got the leads together in a way that would have been WAY more acceptable to everyone. Because let's face it. Shivaay just did this to save his ego, and his family any "loss of face". His arrogance is such that he cant handle his family being questioned for even 1 second. But he is willing to threaten and intimidate others to get his way. It's not like his business would have sunk if this marriage didnt happen. Yes it's a deal. But Tia Kapoor was already gone.

What I fail to understand is how a "1 day" marriage or temporary marriage with someone else was supposed to "save face" of his family, or him? How is that going to make him look better than being left at the alter. Even that guy Siddhart Rana was left at the alter. But he didnt pay, or threaten some woman to marry him instead of Mallika. But I guess SVR loved Mallika, and here Shivaay only cares about money and image. So for such shallow concerns he is willing to stoop so low. I still dont get the "Logic" in it, and that is why I cannot connect to this behavior, no matter how many justifications are given. Shivaay is quite simply Crass! There is no class in him at all! I just cant understand why they had to make him stoop so low into the gutter to make this marriage happen.

I don't think this is the same as IPK. That is why I didn't even bother to mention it in my comment. The circumstances and the motivations behind the two marriages were totally different. The only similarity was the coercion tactics used to make the marriage happen. The previous ML didn't go to these lengths. He merely used the threat of stopping the sister's marriage, which was good enough for FL as her sister's marriage had stopped once before too, and she could not risk it again.

But personally, I think this track was done in a most unpalatable way that was not in the least bit necessary to move the plot. It was just done for high drama value, in an attempt to get TRP with using shock tactics. That is all.

IPK was probably copied (I don't know as I had not watched Indian shows at that point). I heard this producer copied her previous show for that. So re-hashing is her style.As for forced marriage, I dont think forced marriage is needed for TRP. But if that is what gets TRP then it's truly sad. There is no creativity, just doing the same thing in different ways.

There are some Indian shows on some channels that are trying to do new things and getting appreciated for it. So it is possible. As for IPK being crap? It had it's good points and it's bad. Just like every show. Even IB is the same. Nothing is perfect. For me, the only unique point of IB is the Brothers story, and THAT is what should be given prominence. If they did that, this show would get better TRP. These forced marriages are cliches that they should rise above if they truly want to do different concepts. SP should also stop being TRP mad and let people tell a good story, which clearly is not the case here.
