"My heart only ever had one thought, one want. One need. Despite all, in spite of all...All my heart has ever wanted is you."
Stephanie Laurens, The Edge of Desire
Human beings are so fragile. We pretend to be strong but as soon as we face a calamity we tend to cling to things that make us feel safe. We gravitate towards people and places in times of distress our mind shuts down and our heart dominates our actions. For a minute Sansakr couldn't believe that Nikhil had actually fallen into the river. This place and the particular bridge reminded him of bitter memories. Swara had almost died here and would have died again if she hadn't pushed Nikhil into the river. Without thinking about the bitterness of the past six months he just embraced her in a hug. He wanted to tell himself that she was okay and nothing had happened to her. He held her like a man possessed and she let him embrace her. His scent was oddly comforting and soothed her rattled nerves. Nikhil had been her friend and she needed some time to get out of the shock of seeing his death.
"It's okay, Swara" He assured her that everything would be fine
She didn't need the verbal assurance wrapped up in his arms she knew everything would fall into place. Minutes that felt like eternity passed before both of them realized their position. They instantly moved away and went their separate ways. However, Sanskar couldn't help but think of her. He called her mom and asked to talk to her. The first thing he asked her was that was she okay. Swara smiled when he heard his concern she couldn't help but feel foolish for ever doubting him this man truly loved her. He expressed doubts about his plan but she reassured him that she would stand with him whatever the situation. No matter the bitterness, hurt and anger between them they would always need each other.
