Ranveer seeks apology for sexist' ad, claims to treat women with utmost respect'

A furore broke out over an allegedly sexist ad's billboard that was put up in major cities featuring Ranveer.

Mumbai: The otherwise flamboyant Befikre' star landed in controversy and was even labelled a sexist' when an ad, he has featured in, allegedly objectified women.

In the ad Ranveer was seen in a corporate setting, wearing formals, carrying a girl on his shoulders with a caption that outraged many.

The caption in question read: Don't hold back. Take your work home.

The creative' advertisement not only backlashed, but also projected Ranveer in a bad light. Ever since the ad released, Singh has received numerous comments and posts from various sections of the society, including film stars like Siddharth (of Rang De Basanti' fame), criticising Singh for allegedly encouraging something as sexist as this ad.

Feeling the need to clear his name, the Ram Leela' star has issued a statement seeking apology for the debacle.

He said, "It was important to give the brand creative freedom while designing their campaign, but I guess we got it wrong on one of those billboards and I'm sorry this happened but it's a thing of the past.. we rectified it immediately by having that hoarding taken down ASAP from everywhere over 30 cities overnight. I treat all women with the utmost respect both professionally and personally and would never do anything to disrespect them."

glad he apologised, ranveer doesn't disrespect women, he doesn't disrespect anayone, this ad was just a mistake and ranveer and the brand immediately took action and took the ad down

He hasn't realized it yet. First of all nodding yes to do this kind of adv, at that time it was Creative freedom in mind for RS, even with makers, now when severe criticism happened "I guess, we were wrong". If this criticism won't have happened, he would have done 3-4 more ads on this adv lines.

it shows they didn't make the ad thinking it wud be offensive or disrespectful, they just thought they were making a creative ad, but seeing the reaction they realised that it was actually wrong, both the brand and ranveer hav apologised and taken down the ad

i think from now on ranveer will be much more careful doing ads

He wasn't apologetic in his earlier statement, now film is releasing, so issued this apology just to peace out things.

Atleast he has the balls to apologise and own a mistake.
