My Imperfect Mr Perfect - Chapter 49

Their love had won over his hate for affection... And she was sure that one day, their love will overcome his hate for marriage too. And she will wait for that day... But she wouldn't deprive them both of their happiness until then either. She will live with him like he wants her to.

She would handle Buaji and Payal somehow, she decided.

Just as she'd made her decision, she felt Arnav start to wriggle as he started to open his eyes.

She stroked his hair, making him sigh happily, his warm breath caressing her bare skin.

Placing a kiss on the top of her breast, he said sleepily, "I want to wake up like this, every day of my life..."

Hugging him close to herself, she said, "And you will..."

They lay there like that for a while before Khushi asked, "Shall we go to Buaji's house now?"

Arnav looked up at her uncertainly, scared that she was going to leave him...

Seeing his vulnerable look, she decided to tell him of her decision, "I'm going to stay with you. I'll handle Buaji and Jiji."

***************************************************

A while later they set off to Buaji's house with an elated Arnav and a content Khushi.

The relief and immense happiness she saw in Arnav's eyes when she'd told him that she's staying with him, confirmed that she'd definitely made the right decision.

When Buaji opened the door and saw Arnav and Khushi, she exclaimed in happiness, "Arre Payalia look who's here! Come in Nandkishore, come in!"

The moment they stepped into the house, Buaji took them both into a bear hug - almost suffocating them - yet they both felt happy with the affection.

Arnav definitely hadn't expected Buaji to hug him too, but when she did he couldn't help but feel slightly emotional. It almost felt like he had a family who loved him now...

A few seconds later, Payal came out. As soon as she saw Khushi, she ran and engulfed her sister in a welcoming hug.

"I missed you so much Jiji," Khushi said, hugging her back.

"I missed you too Khushi. The house seems dead without you... I can't wait till that stupid murderer is caught," Payal said sadly, thinking that even today her time with her little sister will be limited.

"L75 has now been caught and your sister is now officially safe," Arnav announced with a smile, knowing that his words will bring a lot of happiness in Buaji and Payal's hearts.

"Really?!" Payal exclaimed, a big grin on her face as she took Khushi into another hug.

Meanwhile Buaji placed her hand on Arnav's head, as though blessing him, taking him by surprise once again.

"Thank you so much babua. I know that this must have been a result of your hard-work. My sanka devi is safe today, because of you and I'm very thankful to you for that. But more than that I'm very proud of you. May God bless you bitwa," she said whole-heartedly.

Arnav's eyes glistened with tears at her words. After his mum had passed away, there had been no one to be proud of him in his achievements. No one to encourage him when he fell down.

Even his Dadi hadn't cared for him. She just wanted her son's name to be carried forward.

But here, Buaji had only met him once, but she made him feel like he was a part of their family already. She made him feel like her son... He had never thought that he would get this feeling ever again after his mum had left...

He glanced at Khushi, who was chatting with her sister animatedly.

His Khushi. His Happiness. The girl who had given him every joy including this one. She was the reason for his every smile. His every happiness. What had he done to deserve her?

"Thank you Buaji. But it was my duty. And more than that... I was only saving my life..." he said, looking at Khushi fondly.

Buaji smiled seeing the love oozing from his eyes. She knew in that moment that even if she'd found a groom for Khushi herself, he wouldn't have loved her this much. Arnav was the one for Khushi. She just knew it. And she couldn't wait to get these two married, now that everything else was out of the way.

Eventually, they prepared lunch while Arnav waited in the living room, occasionally texting Akash.

Soon they all had lunch together, happy that the house finally felt complete with Khushi back as well as her future life partner.

"So what do your parents do babua?" Buaji asked after lunch as they all sat down to have a casual chat, just wanting to get to know more about the future son-in-law of the house.

Arnav's face suddenly became sad at the mention of his parents.

Khushi placed her hand on his and squeezed it under the table, not caring even if Buaji and Payal saw her.

Not wanting to put Arnav through this, Khushi answered for him, "They're no more Buaji..."

"Oh..." Buaji felt bad for bringing up what must be a painful topic for the boy. "I'm sorry babua, I didn't know. So what if you don't have your parents? You are no less than a son for me okay? We are all your family now," she said.

Arnav smiled slightly - a genuine one. She already made him feel like he was part of the family.

"Do you have any family members or do you live by yourself?"

"I live with my Dadi but we're not that close. And I have a friend/brother called Akash. To me, he is the closest I have to family," he said. Khushi smiled as she heard that - she knew Akash bhai would have been in tears if he'd heard Arnav just now.

"We'd love to meet them babua. After all, we have to discuss as a family before preparing for the wedding," she said.

"Wedding? Is Payal getting married?" Arnav asked, genuinely confused.

Buaji replied happily, "Hehehe of course not babua, we are talking about your marriage with Khushi. Now that danger is past us, we can finally go ahead and get you two married and settled for life!"

Arnav visibly froze, despite the slight squeeze Khushi gave his hand. He'd expected this topic to come up, but not this soon.

The ASR for once was actually scared. Scared that Khushi will change her mind listening to Buaji's words and will not live with him without marriage. And marriage was something he just could not give her.

"Err Buaji, voh about marriage... We don't want to get married as of yet," Khushi said hesitantly.

"Why not? What's the problem?" Buaji questioned.

"Voh..." Khushi struggled before a light bulb suddenly lit in her head. "Buaji, how can I marry before Jiji does? It won't look good will it? If I get married first, then people will start talking badly of Jiji nah?"

"That's true too bitiya. Honestly I was worried about it too... After the last time you came, I've been trying to search for rishtas for your Jiji but nothing is working out..." she said. "Babua, are you okay to wait for a few more months for yours and Khushi's wedding?" Buaji asked Arnav.

"Of course Buaji, that's not a problem at all," he replied, feeling relieved that Khushi was able to at least put the marriage talk off for a few months.

"Bless you Nandkishore. I know it must be hard for you to wait after waiting so long already. But don't worry, we will let you visit Khushi here whenever you want," Buaji said, her tone teasing at the end.

"Visit Khushi?" Arnav asked bewildered. "Why would I visit Khushi when she's going to stay with me?"

"Hain? Stay with you? Without marriage? This boy makes good jokes," she said to everyone, laughing.

"I'm serious Buaji. Khushi is staying with me. I'll look after her very well and I'll let her come here as often as she wants," he said.

"You're actually serious?!" Buaji exclaimed, flabbergasted. Then recovering from her shock, she said sternly and clearly, "That is NOT happening. Not until I'm here."

"And I'm NOT going to stay without Khushi," Arnav said, equally sternly.

Khushi looked between the two people she loved, fighting for her.

She didn't know whether to smile or cry.

"Buaji-" she started, but got cut off immediately.

"No means no! Are you crazy? We just got you back! But seeing how much the two of you love each other, I was still ready to marry you off as soon as possible. For YOUR happiness. But this? Staying together without marriage? Chi chi! In no ways am I allowing this to happen!" she said.

Khushi sighed. She knew Buaji would react this way.

"Buaji I need to talk to you alone. Please," Khushi said softly.

Giving Arnav an assuring look, she left to go into one of the rooms with Buaji.

Once the doors were closed, she said softly, "Buaji there's a lot about Arnavji that you don't know. I can't tell you everything now but... his mum was gang-raped when he was a kid and she committed suicide because of it. And he was there at the time Buaji."

Buaji gasped with the information feeling terrible for the boy waiting outside.

"And do you know who was responsible for it all? His own dad. He gave her to those monsters for money Buaji," Khushi said, as tears stung her eyes.

"Arnavji faced a lot at that young age. And because of that, he lost his belief in love and marriage."

Seeing Buaji's shock, she rushed to continue, "But see how much he loves me now. His care and affection for me won over his hatred for love Buaji. And that's why I'm sure that his love for me will definitely help him overcome his hatred for marriages too." She said it with so much conviction that in the corner of her heart, Buaji felt proud of her niece.

"But Buaji, I can't leave him... I'm all he has... He seems to dislike his Dadi a lot for some reason... And she's the only family' he has. Akash bhai is a good friend but... Buaji he needs me with him. And... When I think about it, even I can't stay without him... Not knowing whether he's eaten or had his medicines... Not knowing if he's sleeping well... I... Buaji he needs me more than anything and I want to be able to be there for him... Please Buaji," Khushi pleaded desperately for her love.

Buaji felt her niece's words tug at her heart-strings. She could see how much Khushi loved Arnav, and she knew that love was reciprocated equally. And from what she was hearing, it seemed like they were already kind of living like husband and wife... Cooking for him, making sure he takes his medicines, making sure he eats, seeing whether he sleeps well...

But how could she give what Khushi was asking for? It was not right for a man and woman to stay together without marriage. What would society say? How could she let Khushi go through that humiliation?

She couldn't.

And she wouldn't.

But she didn't want to break those young hearts too.

She actually felt her heart go out to that boy in the living room who lost his mother at a young age. She so badly wished to keep him with them so that she could give him all the motherly love that he deserved.

But ho- wait!

That was it!

That was the solution to this problem! A temporary one but she was sure that this was something everyone could live with.

"I've made my decision," Buaji said, before walking out to the living room where Arnav and Payal were.

Khushi followed behind, tension clear on her face.

She reached Arnav's side, seeking the warmth radiating off him for strength.

"Look Nandkisore, I can't send her with you like you're asking me to," she started, shattering Khushi's hopes and somewhere along the line, Arnav's too. Arnav hadn't wanted to leave this house, fighting Buaji... He had developed a soft corner for the lady...

"But I do have a solution that is kind of a middle-ground for all us," she continued.

Khushi's brows furrowed, while Arnav waited impatiently.

"If you want to stay with Khushi, then you can stay here. With us," she said. "You can stay here as a paying guest. Or at least that's what we will tell people until you two are ready to get married. This way you can stay with Khushi and people's tongues won't be wagging about Khushi. This is the only option I can offer you, and if you don't want it, then I'm afraid you have to stay in your house while Khushi stays here. But as I said at the beginning, you will be welcome to come and visit her as frequently as you wish if you choose the latter."

Khushi was happy hearing Buaji's words. This way she would be with all the people she loved! Even if it was only for some time.

Arnav on the other hand wasn't too happy. Yes, the idea itself wasn't too bad. He knew Khushi would be elated to be around both him and her family. But they wouldn't get the privacy that they had in his house. Here Buaji would be watching their every move and he probably wouldn't even be able to kiss Khushi when he wanted to.

But that didn't mean he was going to let go of the opportunity. If this was the only way he could be with Khushi, then he would happily oblige.

He could take Khushi without Buaji's permission but he knew Khushi would be upset by that and he didn't want that.

"Okay," he said. "I'll stay here."

Khushi jumped in excitement at his words and rushed to Buaji and gave her a big tight hug. "Buaji you're the best!!!" She placed a sound kiss on her cheek.

Then she ran to Payal and exclaimed, "Jiji I'm soo happy!!!!" Payal laughed as she hugged her little sister back with equal vigour. Still jumping in excitement, Khushi pulled back and placed a big kiss on Payal's cheek.

And then she ran to Arnav and threw her arms around him saying, "I'm so happy!!!!" while Arnav automatically wrapped his arms around her despite his surprise at her actions. Khushi placed a loud kiss on his cheek in her excitement before suddenly stepping back with a gasp, her hand covering her o' mouth as realisation sank in.

Or at least that's what she made it look like.

Passing a quick wink towards Arnav, catching him off guard, she ran off to her room, maintaining her embarrassed expression while Buaji and Payal watched with their mouths agape.

Maybe life in this house wouldn't be so bad,' Arnav decided.

All the sneaking around and hidden romance would sure be fun' he thought with a smirk.

So guys how was it? I know there wasn't much arshi in this part, and I'm sorry for that. But the next one will DEFINITELY have LOTS of arshi in it. This chapter was needed I guess. I could have made it longer, but I didn't have time to add that and post it this weekend so I thought I'll just post this for now.

Please please please do leave your likes/comments. This story is reaching it's end in the next two chapters so I would be really happy if people could give me their full support during this last phase. And of course your response is my only motivation...
