With the sudden cash crunch, how are you managing your daily chores and activities? Of course you can buy a lot of things with plastic money, but you simply cannot do without some cash for certain basic things. We pay our maid on 10th of every month, and now we have nothing to pay her, and hence, her life has been hugely affected. Are you dealing with this in any better way? If so please share!

1. Withdrawn money from bank
2. Got old notes deposited in bank.
3. Paid utility bills in old currency.

IMO 20,000(now 24000) a week is enough to fulfill all the basic necessities. generally per family there are more than 1 accounts so you can get at least 40,000 rs per week. that should be more than enough to sustain. from that you can pay your maid. for all other extra expenses you can use cheques/plastic money etc . so even if you don't use the cash exchange system/atms then also one can manage.

But the problem is most banks and ATMs are out of cash. Even after standing in hours in lines in front of some banks, the cash one is getting is just 2000 rupee notes: now if you purchase something for 200 bucks, no one out there is willing to give you back 18 100-rupee notes, rendering the new 2000 notes as good as useless for immediate use.

Utility bills are not a problem as they can be paid through payTM and other online services.

Actually, we are not worried about our family because we have other means to sustain, even without going to the bank. But what about those from the unorganized sector like my maid, or those who depend on daily wages. The new 2000 note is not being accepted by a lot of people because they do not have change to give back.

The thing is 500,1000 notes we may give to our maids but since they are not being accepted they are facing issues.

An auto guy wasn't accepting a 500 note when the meter was showing 300-odd something. He said he will accept it only if he does not have to give any change back.

not much problem as most of the stuff are online and cards
but whatever cash is required can be obtained from bank and atm,
so its fine.

Hmm, besides lending them money, they just have to wait until they/we can exchange currency in banks.. major inconvience

Money limit is not the major problem. Just getting the very cash in hands has become difficult. ATMs are mostly closed and on weekends I.e. on Sunday money exchange was a huge problem as many banks said there was no cash with them and this continued till the afternoon and the lines ended up on the roads. People got impatient and created a ruckus around. And during the initial days every transaction had only one line, as in a mixed line which made things worse. Moreoever during the first two days, shopkeepers every where refused to give your change back until you purchased worth the entire amount. Cheques is barely an option because very few people even have cheque books with them. Plus, 2k notes are being circulated which nobody is ready to accept coz they don't have change.

But yeah, once you finally and successfully complete your standing in queue ka quota you must be fine for 4-5 days or so, if you spend it properly. 😆

And TM, to answer your question. Many of the little thelas around me were closed till a day ago. Now they have somehow come to manage.

People have been hiring people to stand in queues. 😆
